Corrupt referees, judges, and matchmaking

Post by Kalan »

Obviously Spence vs Algieri demonstrated what a FLAGRANT cherry pick Amir Khan was for Canelo Alvarez… Khan was forced to run, grab, and wrestle all night against Algieri.. Khan had a super friendly “house” referee who let him hold and wrestle to a ridiculous amount.. That won't be allowed versus Canelo..

Last night Marcus Browne had the benefit of another such referee. A guy who called a phony knockdown on Radivoje Kalajdzic and didn't reprimand Browne for hitting a downed opponent… Browne wrestled and grabbed desperately all night. He ran worse than I've ever seen any winner do in any boxing match. Excessively holding is STILL a foul RIGHT??? It was ignored and Browne was allowed to get away with it. He also had 2 judges who were going to give him the fight unless he got knocked out. Browne was well beaten on clean, effective punches landed and the decision was disgraceful and unbelievable. It’s going to be ignored like it always is in Al Haymon fights. This is as bad as armed robbery because real money is at stake.

I also swear that the DUCK CLUB of: Pacquiao, Khan, Bradley, and Maidana are NOT going to fight Brook, Thurman, Spence, or Porter because they would all need such referees to survive. Matchmaking in Boxing is becoming as corrupt and partisan as the officials.

Corruption in boxing... Surely you jest, sir?
No level of cheating or manipulation in boxing is a surprise. If organisations like the IAAF can be more rotten than one of Shane MacGowan's pearly browns then what hope boxing?

I mean the goal is to make the most amount of money with least amount of risk.

The whole nature of boxing is against what a normal person would consider fair. As WorldRanked said it is about making money for the least risk. If you have a title [Charles Martin] you part with it for the most money [lose fight] or you defend against [worst opponent you can find in the rankings]. Until an outside party can make/enforce eliminators and force annual mandatories nothing will get better.

The downside with one champion per division the boxers will make less money. The TV companies are the real rulers they like undefeated fighters v undefeated fighters not 23-6 v 28-11-2 types. 99% of people think boxers are like conkers and a 31-0 fighter is better than a 30-0 fighter.

Judges and referees should never be from the same country but it happens non stop. Judges might be better actually in another country and watch via CCTV. It is very difficult to side against the home fighter with a 10,000 crowd. Almost every doubt you give to the home man. That would not happen with CCTV scoring.

The good thing about multiple sanctioning bodies is the great fights are the unifications, and they happen much more frequently.

Yeah, that's what I meant by manipulation.
Rankings, strippings, judges, refs, timekeepers, all to reduce risk and/or increase profit.

Tony Chiarantano, and he is the newest sensational top contender for the coveted "most corrupt and incompetent referee of the year" title!
