Bernard stayed at 160 till the age of 40, and his opposition level for many years was about the same as Golovkin's. Golovkin will move up in a year or two after getting all MW belts.diddy wrote: For me personally, I don't need to see GGG fight Ward or Kovalev. Re: Ward-Kovalev Officially Signed For Fall
Hopkins fought for over a decade at new weight classes. He's a freak of nature. And you do realize he fought a guy named Roy Jones Jr when RJJ was one of the all time greats in the mid 90s? GGG's clock is ticking. He's 34. The dude sure as hell ain't fighting til he's 50. And almost certainty not when he's 40 either. He's got about 3 yrs left of his prime. Time is running out in his prime. If he's gonna fight truly elite fighters. Or better fighters he better do it soon.

As for Floyd, I'm no fan, but let's be serious here. HE HAS FOUGHT PEOPLE. Real opponents. Elite opponents. Oscar. Canelo. Cotto. Pacquaio. Its a long list. And he's gone up in weight to fight some of them. He's an old man now. He's not in his prime like GGG. When Floyd was in his prime he went up and fought people. This is reality. GGG is a GREAT fighter. But we will never know how great. Because his opposition is HORRID. Everyone thought Tyson was great. Until he fought elite guys who could take a punch. And punch back. Then we found out he wasn't as great as we thought. I want to see if GGG is as great as he could be. But we will NEVER find out if he remains in that division. Theres NOBODY any good at 160. When Danny Jacobs is your toughest fight in your division - your division sucks.
You just hate GGG..You have zero credibility when discussing GGG.

Why do you even worry about who Golovkin fights and how long he'll be fighting for? If you don't like him or who he fights then don't worry about him and don't watch him, simple.diddy wrote:Hopkins fought for over a decade at new weight classes. He's a freak of nature. RJJ wasn't yet an all time great when Hopkins fought him, became a great due to his wins over Hopkins et al.

I called GGG a top 3 P4P fighter...yet I hate him and can't be taken seriously when discussing wanting to see him fight better opponents?
You don't need much credibility to dissect his awful level of opposition. His best win is...?

What question? Do I watch fights ? Nah I'm just on a boxing board because I love Game of Thrones. And Downton Abbey. What kind of question is - do I watch the fights ?! Can't wait for your next question. I'm sure it'll be very thought provoking.

Hagler fought Leonard and Duran and Hearns, you idiot. He didn't need to go anywhere to fight great fighters. He was already fighting them. Looking forward to Ward-Kovolev, will be a cracker fight. Would really like to see either of them fight Stevenson, too. Don't have anything to discuss in reguards to GOT or Downton Abbey, been getting into cooking based shows and those auction wars/hunters shows, watching American Testoration ATM.

I'll believe it when I see it
Re: Ward-Kovalev Officially Signed For Fall
Another garbage post by a GGG hater. The only thing signed is some kind of letter of commitment to fight in the future. This fight is not happening in 2016 according to the majority of the people worth listening to. Even if it were true, how this has anything to do with GGG is beyond me.diddy wrote:https://www.boxingnewsandviews.com/2016 ... ndre-ward/
Man, that Ward sure is a puss. Take notes, GGG. This is what true champions do.
GGG just electrified the arena a few days ago with his 22 KO in a row. I haven't heard an arena that loud in a long time. Face it, GGG's knockouts have approached Tyson like mania and his legend is growing and spreading like wild fire. He's giving the fans something that Floyd could never give. On Saturday Night, the fans saw less than two rounds of GGG and they still erupted as loud as i've ever heard a Floyd typical dance contest.
GGG is on his way to becoming the GOAT...so just enjoy it.
Re: Ward-Kovalev Officially Signed For Fall
Yeah, I agree with you here about the GGG hate, it's actually quite disterbing. Posters like @diddy with their unbridled hate towards exciting world champion fighters, calling them cowards and derogatory names and all, is beyond belief.
You're right that all that has been 'signed' by Ward is a vague agreement that, if all the stars fall in line then they may fight, if a weight agreement is reached at the time, then they might advance towards a discussion that may lead to an agreement to purses.
The day Ward fights a genuine fight at an actual weight division during his comeback is when he becomes relevant again. He is yet to walk out to the ring and take the ref's instructions against Kovolev, let alone sign an actual real contract, so he is yet to get respect for it. He is truly a has been (until he proves that wrong)) until he walks the walk.

A lot of time before these 2 step in the ring, when I see the ref signal fight then I'll believe this is actually happening, until then blowing wards trumpet is a little bit eager

Both GGG and Ward are exceptional talents. I appreciate both of them. Why do people have to pick sides about these things.
One of the reasons I always liked being a boxing fan, is that I didn't have to choose a side to support. I appreciate seeing talent in all sports, no matter where it's from.

believe this when i see it.
its a great fight because its hard to imagine ward losing and its hard to imagine kovalev losing.
but for me, i'm going with kovalev in this fight as the winner

Wow, yep, this is what I've been trying to point out. I see something in almost every fighter I watch. I watch a lot of fighters, right from first timers to elite amateurs to debutants to local champions to the extremely talented like Ward and Golovkin. I love watching them. There are no sides, it's an indavidual sport, if you cannot sit back and enjoy then you've got a problem.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Both GGG and Ward are exceptional talents. I appreciate both of them. Fact u are a jackassLancenix wrote:Fact GGG does not have to go up in weight.diddy wrote:I'm not sure why I even debate certain things with you idiots. Now we have people speaking for why Ward moved up in weight in an effort to downplay it. How the hell would you know why he did?! It doesn't matter WHY he did. It only matters that he did. Into a division with sharks.
Ward has beaten better fighters than GGG. Fact.
Ward has gone up in weight despite being younger than GGG. Fact.
The rest are opinions and conjecture. These are facts. Indisputable facts.
Fact GGG is not from the inner city of America and you cannot stand that.
Fact GGG will take on anyone at 160 in the world.
So by your measure Floyd not taking on GGG then Floyd is a coward right? No you would not go there and you know damn well why you would not.
Fact ggg is willing to fight anyone at 160 because there ain't shit there.
Fact ggg is getting huge in America so I don't think we give a f#ck whether he's from the inner city.
Fact Floyd went from Featherweight to Jr. middleweight so no Floyd is not a coward.

Who takes more heat here?
Ward or GGG?
All of the talk around GGG centers around his level of opposition. And let's be honest. It's a worthy topic. His best win is probably...Gabe Rosado or Curtis Stevens? Question those opponents...an you're a hater? How can you be a hater if you call a guy a top 3 p4p fighter? From my end I just want to see GGG fight somebody, anybody, to where I don't 1000% know the result before the fight begins. Some drama; if you will.
You can't hate on Ward's career opponents - yet people still attempt to downplay them. Because of feelings that go beyond a boxing ring. Personal feelings. But why? Ward is about as likeable an athlete as there is outside the ring. Doesn't drink. Doesn't smoke. Goes to church every week. Gives to charities. An an all around good dude. Yet people resent his success. For their own personal reasons mainly due to a disdain for America. Which speaks to them as individuals. This isn't about war. Or politics. Yet people make it so.
