Expect Povetkin to last no more than 8 rounds
Re: Expect Povetkin to last no more than 8 rounds
Expect this to go 12.
Re: Expect Povetkin to last no more than 8 rounds
Really? That's one of the least likely outcomes to me....then again I thought the same thing about Wilder vs Stiverne too, but Povetkin is significantly more skilled than Stiverne.diddy wrote:Expect this to go 12.

Wilder is gonna be moving and jabbing all night.

Povetkin will win on the cards and Wilder knows it, why would he move and jab?
Re: Expect Povetkin to last no more than 8 rounds
Then he's a dumbass. He can't box that well. He was getting outboxed by Szpilka and Povetkin boxes better than that.diddy wrote:Wilder is gonna be moving and jabbing all night.
Wilder's gonna have to try to get to Povetkin's chin before Povetkin gets to his.

If this goes past 4, it will be an encore of Canelo-Khan. With Bambi Legs being Khan.

Re: Expect Povetkin to last no more than 8 rounds
"Povetkin's technique is superb" - what technique??? the guy was a brawler and presser all his life, with very limited combination skill and very poor defense compensated by his ability to absorb punishment. No head movement, ate tons of jabs from Klichko and plenty of slow motion jabs from Wach for 4 rounds (after it Wach stopped jabbing-))). Ugly style of bending down and sticking his face to opponents trousers(short guys like Huck) or armpits(tall guy like Klichko)...even Povetkin never thought he's "superb technique boxer"asdfjkl wrote:I can tell you one thing, Povetkin won't get exhausted. He lives in the mountains for a reason, which Americans obviously don't understand.
The chance of him getting KOed are quite low, at this moment nobody has ever succeed putting him on the ground for over a second and he fought a hell of a lot more serious competition compared to Deontay Wilder.
Wilder got a few good qualitys compared to Povetkin.
His reach is superb, his height is superb, his speed is nice, but, their lungs are equal.
I'm not sure about Wilder's chin, it's clearly not made of glass, but I don't know yet if it's make of steel, like Wach's chin, either.
Povetkin's technique is superb, Povetkin got more experience, Povetkin got a harder punch (I don't care how many people say Wilder hits harder, he doesn't), the entrance will be much much much more impressive as Deontay Wilder has ever seen, while Povetkin is used to it, and Povketin got the hometown advantage.
Hometown advantage doesn't mean the referees are unfair, I'm convinced the referees are fair, the fight is to big to cheat on, but like Klitschko who origionally created a trampoline for Fury, Povetkin might create a little bit smaller boxing ring for example, piles of things like that, and it's easy to act like they don't understand English.
I think the fight will go to distance and the winner will win on winning most rounds. I expect Povetkin to win the early rounds, Wilder the middle and Povetkin the latest few.
It will be a very very very very close fight, if someone get's KOed I expect it to be Wilder, I don't think Wilder himself has the power to KO Povetkin despite Povetkin getting old.
"Povetkin got more experience" - no doubt, but experience has price - age
"Povetkin got a harder punch (I don't care how many people say Wilder hits harder, he doesn't)" - no measurements were taken, so it's arguable, at least. But I do not remember Povetkin KO someone cold in one punch...even at early stages of his long run. Wilder's KOs of Lyahovich, Price and Spilka - classic one punch KO cold

Limited guys seem quite capable of living with his power for 9,10,11 rounds.
Being limited regarding greatness doesn't mean you can't take a great punch. Duhapus, Molina, and Spilka aren't HOF fighters but no one took them out early with the exception that Molina I believe was stopped early in his first or second fight.

povetkin is gonne start pressuring from the start, his short arms wont do damage and he will get countered all day. by round 6-8 he will be exhausted and wilder is gonne take it to him resulting in him tkoing povetkin, mark my words, it will be an easy fight, pov is not gonne win 1 round.
20 push ups on the line
If wilder lets him close the gap.. Wilder goes to sleep.. If povetkin can't close the gap.. Povetkin goes to sleep.. Simple. Don't let povetkin close enough to land.. Because he will ko wilder if he does.. But I don't expect wilder to let him near.. Jab jab straight right early in the fight. To keep povetkin of balance, then walk him on to a big one mid to late in the fight! Povetkin needs plenty of head movement to get close Mike Tyson style "bobbing and weaving"(which I don't think he has).. if he can do it.. Wilder is in big trouble.. Awesome fight with spectacular ko either way.
povetkin needs plenty of movemant, he couldnt do it against wlad, it wont be able to do it against wilder. you need to be very athletic and well conditioned to move all day, it takes a lot of energy. prime mike could do that, povetkin not.
Re: Expect Povetkin to last no more than 8 rounds
My thoughts exactly which is why my prediction is Povetkin KO 5hulkmaniac wrote:gilgamesh wrote:Then he's a dumbass. He can't box that well. He was getting outboxed by Szpilka and Povetkin boxes better than that.diddy wrote:Wilder is gonna be moving and jabbing all night.

I think this is going to be a pretty damned good fight. Can't wait!
This should give us a pretty definitive answer on the legitimacy of Wilder. Finally...

Chris Arreola knocked out Molina in 1 as well.Tony1244 wrote:Taki... wrote:On the evidence of his last 4 fights Wilder doesn't strike me as massive KO threat early on.Tony1244 wrote:I Love this fight because it could be a One Round KO for either guy or a distance fight. Re: Expect Povetkin to last no more than 8 rounds
I'm not sure that the fight swings in Povetkin's favor if it makes it out of the early rounds. In his last 4 fights Wilder has gotten to his opponents later on, showing that he's got decent stamina and maintains his power as the fight progresses.
Re: Expect Povetkin to last no more than 8 rounds
Or maybe his opponents demonstrated that they didn't have decent stamina ?crusader wrote:I'm not sure that the fight swings in Povetkin's favor if it makes it out of the early rounds. That's limited with regards to ability. We know Molina has a bit of a dig, though he's not an elite puncher. We know Duhaupass is very durable. We know Szpilka has some boxing ability. The fact is that with all of those fighters Wilder should have been able to close the range and throw some bombs. If Wilder has the kind of power some people seem to think he has, one or two of those fighters should have gone in the early to mid rounds. Big power doesn't always guarantee an early stoppage, but 0 for 3 against a rogues gallery of mediocrity? Hmmmm.Tony1244 wrote:Taki... wrote:On the evidence of his last 4 fights Wilder doesn't strike me as massive KO threat early on.Tony1244 wrote:I Love this fight because it could be a One Round KO for either guy or a distance fight. Molina kept turning his back on Wilder. Both Duhaupus and Spilka have decent defense. Wilder is a patient fighter. Just because Povetkin could most probably beat Wilder's last 3 opponents does not mean that he could necessarily stay in there with Wilder longer than they could. Maybe he can, maybe he can't.
Ali stopped Foreman in 8. Wepner went to the 15th round against Ali. Of course that doesn't mean Wepner was better than Foreman. I stand by my initial post that I like Wilder fights because "anything can happen." I am not saying Wilder is great or anything like that.
Re: Expect Povetkin to last no more than 8 rounds
Oh indeed there are no guarantees. Wilder could KO Poverkin with the first shot he throws. I'm just saying that Wilder has not demonstrated early KO power since he stepped it up with Stiverne. I think there's a difference between patience and not being able to finish an opponent. I'm inclined to think Wilder does have good power, but really struggles to utilise it effectively against better -- and that's relative to the kind of opponent he was fighting in his first 29 contests -- fighters.Tony1244 wrote:Taki... wrote:That's limited with regards to ability. Looking forward to the fight not sure how its going to go but intresting to see what level Wilder is. In some ways I want to see Wilder win because I think him against either Fury or Joshua will be entertaing should they all keep there 0's

I'm going to say Wilder by 2nd round knockout.
