What's the difference between and All Time Legend and an All Time Great? ? ?

Re: Big Up - Amir Khan
Are you talking about Hamed being a world great or a British great?jamesmcdonnell wrote:Not sure I'd have Naseem in there, great to watch, but lost against the only ATG he faced, and that was effectively the end of his career. He was bloody close to being great, but he needed some other big names, a Barrera, Morales or the like to make his career that bit more special. A bloody good fighter, but not quite up there with the greats for me, but bloody close.
Because I'm mostly talking about British greats in this thread.
Khan qualifies as a British great and Hamed certainly does.
Re: Big Up - Amir Khan
Apparently being an All Time Great is better than being an All Time Legend.ShadrachSimmo wrote:What's the difference between and All Time Legend and an All Time Great? ? ?
I personally think Stuarty30 is talking a load of old guff, but he is of course entitled to his opinion.
Re: Big Up - Amir Khan
I said possibly because I could see why people wouldn't have him in. I would have him down as a great. I could understand why some wouldn't. Doesn't mean I agree with them.Horse wrote:Why did you say this then: "Possibly Naz though the way his career abruptly ended tarnishes his career." if you are certain?Stuarty30 wrote:I would have Naz as an ATG absolutely. I grew up in awe of him and he's one of the reasons I and probably 100s of others started boxing.
You actually are quite pompous, but I doubt that you'll be able to see it in yourself.Stuarty30 wrote:As I said it's a matter of opinion. You see I try and look at things impartially. I am not a pompous wind bag like your good self.
So are Eubank and Benn ATLs?Stuarty30 wrote:I would say legends and ATGs are again a matter of personal interpretation. Legends of British boxing but just missing out on ATG status.
I can probably count on the one hand the amount of people I've rubbed up the wrong way on here. You do it on a daily basis and seem to take great pleasure in doing so.
Your ATL comment is just the type of fecetious nonsense that is your trademark.
Re: Big Up - Amir Khan
Ditto. I personally think you're talking through your hole as per usual. You're twisting what I said to suit your own agenda which you are entitled to do but it's a bit desperate.Horse wrote:Apparently being an All Time Great is better than being an All Time Legend.ShadrachSimmo wrote:What's the difference between and All Time Legend and an All Time Great? ? ?

Makes perfect sense. A legend is someone who was revered in their time - you don't have to be the best at anything to earn that status, apart from admiration.Horse wrote:Apparently being an All Time Great is better than being an All Time Legend.ShadrachSimmo wrote:What's the difference between and All Time Legend and an All Time Great? ? ?

Eddie the eagle was a legend, but he was also shite.

You're acting like a right mercman in this thread. Try to calm down.
You were the one who mentioned 'legends' as being an inferior version of 'greats'.Stuarty30 wrote:Your ATL comment is just the type of fecetious nonsense that is your trademark.
Do you stand by that?
Re: Big Up - Amir Khan
Legends and greats are two different things in my opinion. A legend in my eyes may not be one in your eyes and neither of us can be right or wrong. The ATG point is part of the wider spectrum and open to scrutiny.Horse wrote:Some people can't stand losing and get their knickers in a twist about it.Stuarty30 wrote:I said possibly because I could see why people wouldn't have him in. At the end of the day Horse you are the one throwing the term great around loosely.
Herrol Graham for example. Probably a legend in most people's eyes but an ATG? Not in my opinion. you seem to have an ATG British list and an ATG proper list. Make your mind up.

This legends being a lesser version of greats idea seems ridiculous to me, but you carry on with it.Stuarty30 wrote:Legends and greats are two different things in my opinion. No, I'm not.Stuarty30 wrote:At the end of the day Horse you are the one throwing the term great around loosely.
How many world greats are there then? 15 or so?
Graham is a British ATG.Stuarty30 wrote:Herrol Graham for example. Probably a legend in most people's eyes but an ATG? Not in my opinion.
Excuse me? I don't understand.Stuarty30 wrote:you seem to have an ATG British list and an ATG proper list. Make your mind up.
I'm only allowed to have a world ATG list or a British ATG list? I'm indecisive for having both?
Does the same apply to divisional lists as well?
Re: Big Up - Amir Khan
You can do whatever you like. You're throwing the term great around and using where it's not appropriate.Horse wrote:This legends being a lesser version of greats idea seems ridiculous to me, but you carry on with it.Stuarty30 wrote:Legends and greats are two different things in my opinion. Amir Khan = No all time great
Floyd Mayweather = Yes all time great
Frank Bruno= No all time great
Lennox Lewis= Yes all time great
Big difference between great and good. That is all I am trying to say. I've tried to explain but you're being deliberately obstructive.

I won't humour you and keep answering the same questions over and over. I've explained myself and have made it as transparent as possible. You're not a daft man so if you choose to ignore that then that's your prerogative. Bottom line is you're using the term great incorrectly. What else is there to understand?Horse wrote:Terrible post.Stuarty30 wrote:You can do whatever you like. You're throwing the term great around and using where it's not appropriate.

You have refused to explain yourself properly.Stuarty30 wrote:I won't humour you and keep answering the same questions over and over. I've explained myself and have made it as transparent as possible.
I wonder why.

Your conduct in this thread has been poor.

Amir Khan is not an ATG you're talking out of your balloon knot! I have explained myself. Conduct?

"you seem to have an ATG British list and an ATG proper list. Make your mind up." Can you explain what this means?

You're using the term great wrong. Maybe have a best of British list then an ATG list? If my conduct has offended you then you need to have a word with yourself.

Au contraire Anzi. The quotation marks I placed around the word "win" show exactly what I thought of the Pac-Bradley fight.Anzi wrote:BigDoofus wrote:They are the undisputed facts. Bradley beat Peterson easily - Peterson beat Khan. Bradley moved up undefeated to get a "win" over Pacquiao, Khan tried to regain a belt and got brutally KO'd again.Anzi wrote:you are wrong
You have no idea of boxing do you ? that or you are hiding things. Pacman was robbed against Bradley, one of the biggest robberies, Khan's defeat on points to Peterson was disputed and Peterson was on PED's for the fight, to which the WBA super world title was handed back to Khan, or yes and Bradley's win over Peterson was 2 years before, you are so mixed up, you don't know where you are.
Bradley beat Peterson easily and in your excuses for Khan's defeat to Peterson you have forgotten to add the presence of a man wearing a hat at ringside. Or his excuse to his brutal KO loss to Garcia about Freddie Roach's Parkinson disease slowing him down?

Re: Big Up - Amir Khan
How many active ATGs or how many on the whole? If it's the latter then I think you'll need to start another thread and give it a good few weeks. 'It does if I say it does' What an absolute pudendum like statement to make. Very dickish.

You think what you say is true and I think what I say is true.
In what way are you not behaving like a "pudendum"? In what way are you not being "very dickish"?
