That what you get at 4 weeks notice for peanuts purse.
And Wilder could be on vacation now, reacher by at least 4.6 millions...

Yup, shitty fight and the only other option would be to not fight at all. I doubt I'll even watch it.bigman1968 wrote:That what you get at 4 weeks notice for peanuts purse.

Not really, but it is what it is.

It is what it is: it's a shame.

There are few options available.
Re: Is Arreola a Worthy Opponent for Wilder?
I'm in the 84% that voted "no."
Having said that, its better than no fight at all, so I will watch it.
But Washington or Andy Ruiz may have been doable. But with boxing these days....

Andy Ruiz isn't better and he takes half a year to get ready for a nobody. Not to mention he is a top rank fighter. I'd prefer Washington, apparently he didn't like the timing or money.

Bullshit, he could have had Ortiz, or Whyte, or Jennings, or Washington, Jun Long Zhang, but no, he chose Arreola.bigman1968 wrote:That what you get at 4 weeks notice for peanuts purse.

While I'm happy there is a "fight," he could have done better than Arreola; even Travis Kauffman.

Either of these would be a better option but like you stayed there are certain circumstances that derail them.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Andy Ruiz isn't better and he takes half a year to get ready for a nobody. Just wish Povetkin would of tested clean
Re: Is Arreola a Worthy Opponent for Wilder?
Call me crazy but I think that Arreola is a worthy opponent for a shot at Wilder's belt. Arreola has had a fine career. That's right, i'd call it a fine career. The reason is that he's been the only glimmer of entertainment within that sad division for many years while the statue, Wlad, hijacked the championship. We've seen Arreola fail in his bid for a title before and he's taken some hellacious beatings trying to get his shots back at a chance. So i'm happy to see him get one last shot before he hangs them up and regardless of the outcome, it will be entertaining because i'm yet to see a fight he's been in that wasn't.
Much rather see him than Povetkin. Just another boring ass boxer with no charisma.

After all is considered he is a legit opponent. Povetkin and his team are at fault. Wilder actually showed up to fight in Russia despite so many saying he would never do so. Now that he showed the stones there he never has to look at Povetkin again if better fights present themselves. Staying busy close to the Wlad/Fury match is a good move. Now he can drop the WBC belt without any flack about being a coward and go for the top HW Title in the world. And contrary to what most people on here think, Arreola has a chance in this fight. At the very least it will be entertaining while it lasts. Screw Povetkin for ruining the better fight no matter what a couple Russian clowns on this forum are spewing about it.

Wilder has never been in Russia at all, not even close in fact and likely never planned too at all. Povetkin has never been at fault at all. Yea lol, just stick your head in the ground and act like you believe Povetkin was lol, typical American behaviour.Kronkpride wrote:After all is considered he is a legit opponent. Wilder wish it too, 4.6-5.3 millions are much better than peanuts he'll earn now.tiny_acres wrote:Either of these would be a better option but like you stayed there are certain circumstances that derail them.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Andy Ruiz isn't better and he takes half a year to get ready for a nobody. I hope the money is still at WBC bank account, so he can collect it in Dec or Jan...

He'll get his money. povetkin's promoter sued Don King for Lebedev's purse when jones got busted and won. All his propaganda is just to try and preempt Wilder and Al's lawsuit.bigman1968 wrote:Wilder wish it too, 4.6-5.3 millions are much better than peanuts he'll earn now.tiny_acres wrote:Either of these would be a better option but like you stayed there are certain circumstances that derail them.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Andy Ruiz isn't better and he takes half a year to get ready for a nobody. Thing is, Povetkin never got busted, I actually expect this to be lie number 1000 from team Wilder, they will probably never sue him at all and will probably get forced to eat their own words over time.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He'll get his money. povetkin's promoter sued Don King for Lebedev's purse when jones got busted and won. Re: Is Arreola a Worthy Opponent for Wilder?
I was really hoping for Washington.
Wilders team need a quick stay busy fight with little risk and a name they can sell.
Arreola ticks all boxing. If much prefer this than a inactive champion.
But Washington was available!!!
