Why has it taken so long to arrange this unexceptional fight?

And why is it three months away?

He'll probably not fight again before the end of the year either.

Another wasted year for Brook.

Vargas has posted it. Obviously could mean anything from it being sealed and ready for a press conference or just a verbal agreement and waiting to sign.

Hey, but he's fighting for another world title, woop woop!

Hearn will probably toss himself into the ring when Brook wins, flapping his arms about acting like he's achieved something monumental, cry a few fake tears and try to sell his sad ass story that Kells a two time world champion and the best welterweight Britain has ever had. That two time world champion line will be getting rammed in our faces till death do us part.

After recovering from near death after a brutal machete attack, now he's a unified world champion!

What a story! What a hero!

You know being a two time World champion means you won a title, lost it then won it back don't you?

Not winning a unification fight.

It's nice that they've arranged it for the day after Lennox Lewis's birthday.

Shows respect :TU:

I agree. If Brooks wins this I'd love to see him push on and take on the best in the division but it's more likely he'll carry on as is - take a decent fight then a few simple ones

Good matchup. Hope it's really on. Was concerned Kell would get left on the outside while all the other top welters face each other. Glad he will remain current.

Hoping for a decisive and stylish win. His result versus Porter in America is fine, but he held, pecked and poked a great deal. If he can put in a performance to suggest he's a star, that will be really positive.

Don't see why there should be anything to get so cynical about. Especially as Box Rec's new monster Spence is likely to become the next mandatory.

The fight itself isn't actually that great and people can only be positive about it because it might lead to something better afterwards.

There's plenty to be cynical about when it comes to Brook.

The fight couldn't be confirmed until the football fixtures are out. They're not out yet.

The football league always starts before the premier, can't see September being suitable. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Would they allow it during the season though giving the damage that will occur to the pitch? Can't see it.

They would cover the pitch wouldn't be a problem

Let's See If he holds onto the IBF belt if he beats Vargas and thus grabs the WBO strap.

The fight will be Aug 27 or Sept 3 depending on when Sheffield United are at home.
