thoughts on GGG ??
Re: thoughts on GGG ??
He was never banned here as fergusg. For some reason he PM'd a moderator and asked for that account to be deleted, although he was previously caught on another forum running several alts so maybe true to form he was still here posting under other usernames.
Adding him as a foe and ignoring him is the best way to go. People can make the forum a better place if they stop giving him opportunities to fill threads with hokum.

It's the height of stupidity to use weigh in pics to prove anything about size.

Re: thoughts on GGG ??
You guys seem to have such a fond affection for GGG that anyone possessing the sheer audacity to express an honest opinion about the man that doesn’t endorse his god-like image, compels you to become tribal, by forming a pack to aggressively defend him at all costs.
I’ve supplied a huge variety of evidence that backs up my claims that GGG isn’t a small middleweight, such as photos, videos, Boxrec stats, interview transcripts etc. and you still claim that I’m “stupid”, I’m a “liar” and that I “misrepresent” facts.
The thing is… when you actually see the man at pre-fight weigh-ins, surely your eyeballs must communicate to your brain that he’s not “small”?
Someone on this thread boldly proclaimed Martin Murray as a “huge” middleweight, but GGG is about the same height as him and possesses the same stocky physique, yet you guys persistently claim that Golovkin is much smaller than him – that he’s some sort of tiny Oompa Loompa with devastating punching power!
You can even watch videos of Golovkin not only towering above a so-called fully-fledged middleweight like Matthew Macklin, whilst also being much stockier than him, yet you claim that GGG is the same size as the man.
If I thought I was saying something particularly derogatory and controversial, then I’d probably apologise and retract my claims, but as I’m only stating the obvious, I’ll continue to find a way to rile you all up for as long as I possibly can!

Abel Sanchez has just claimed via Sky Sports that after the Brook fight, Golovkin would likely face Chris Eubank Jr. or James DeGale.

I agree GGG isn't a small middleweight - he's a solid natural middleweight who makes weight easily.Enlightened-One wrote:You guys seem to have such a fond affection for GGG that anyone possessing the sheer audacity to express an honest opinion about the man that doesn’t endorse his god-like image, compels you to become tribal, by forming a pack to aggressively defend him at all costs.

Photos can be misleading. Watching them in the ring, Murray was clearly the bigger, taller man. GGG weighed the same as Macklin on fight night and only had half an inch on him in height.

Sound post, as with kalan the ignore option is our friend and denying them the oxygen of responses is the answer

In terms of Macklin-Golovkin height comparison, skip to the 2m 50s mark of this video and then get back to me about your belief about both guys being the same size, because GGG makes Macklin look like a 140lb-er.

If everyone claims that Martin Murray is a "huge" middleweight, why do they persistently and aggressively argue that GGG is a "small" 160lb-er? To me, both men look about the same "size" (height and physique).
I'm willing to post more videos illustrating the same point, but I'll only end up being accused of manipulating them by others.

Apologies for that, you didn't explicitly state short, simply that Ward wouldn't have trouble keeping him on the outside, which the S.O.G. has done against taller foes. Once again, I'm sorry if I misunderstood your words.sykessta wrote:Small as in short. I referred to that in my post if you would have quoted the whole thing.

In other words, you’re frustrated about having invested an awful lot of time and effort into our discussion trying your upmost to undermine my claims... and now you're quite simply annoyed because you’ve allowed yourself to be overwhelmed by the evidence I have supplied, which you now realise is far too difficult to refute!boxing_rocks wrote:F*ck off, fergus. All I did was express an opinion and then justified it when challenged.
It appears that whenever I submit a fairly innocuous post, some poor hideously sensitive soul always seem to deem my comments as brutally provocative, to the point they feel compelled to insult me.
It seems that when anyone posts a comment that doesn't wholly endorse the god-like reputations of Kovalev and Golovkin, they automatically become a target for hate and vitriol from a pack of like-minded emotionally-disturbed individuals.
Perhaps I need to treat some people with kid gloves, as it's not my intention to traumatise intellectually-deficient keyboard warriors with an inferiority complex.

Re: thoughts on GGG ??
After looking at a number of weigh-in photos, I've come to the conclusion that Murray's team might exaggerate his height and he's probably 5'11" rather than 6'0", which would explain why he doesn't look much taller than the 5'10 1/2" Golovkin. That said, it's a well-known fact that Murray struggled to make 160lb, so he would have been pretty drained for the weigh-in, which could help explain why he didn't look much bigger than GGG, although he still looks broader in the shoulders and the torso to me. Watching the fight, Murray is clearly the bigger man - perhaps not a huge middleweight, but certainly a big one.Enlightened-One wrote:If the photos I posted were intentionally misleading and dishonest, they'd be easy to undermine and I'm not stupid enough to put myself in a vulnerable position.jezzamundo wrote:I agree GGG isn't a small middleweight - he's a solid natural middleweight who makes weight easily.

Macklin clearly doesn't have good posture in his weigh in photos, which diminishes his height, although it's possible he's nearer 5'9" than his listed 5'10". Both men weighed the same at the weigh-in and on fight night. GGG clearly looks taller in this weigh in video, but on fight night they appeared pretty much the same size.
