Willie Monroe vs Gabe Rosado

Post by diddy »

Talk me out of hitting Monroe hard at -150. I see him picking off Rosado all night from range. Rosado wont put the sort of pressure needed on Monroe that he'll need to. Monroe is a good boxer who is done in by power. Dont think Rosado has enough of it. Thoughts?

I'd definitely go with Monroe in this fight. Rosado is aggressive, but he cuts easy, and I see Monroe as the more technically skilled fighter. Rosado's not exactly a big hitter either. He's a tough fighter, and he'll have his moments, but I expect Monroe to win a pretty clear Unanimous Decision. A TKO due to cuts wouldn't be all that shocking either considering all the scar tissue Rosado has.

I don't know. Monroe may be overrated. His best win is a shot Brian Vera who came down to 160 after two Chavez brawls.

Rosado can box, and he definitely hits harder. If the fight isn't stopped on cuts or another injury, Rosado has decent chances. I do want Monroe to win, as Rosado talks too much sh*t.

What's Rosado's best win? I don't think anybody overrates either of these two guys. They're both fringe contenders.

Rosado did stop Vera in BKB.

I'd favor Monroe...but then again I was pretty sure Hugo Ruiz was gonna beat Hozumi Hasegawa too, and that didn't work out. Should be an interesting fight.

I like Monroe quite a bit in this too...I can imagine it looking similar to Rosado's fight with Charlo.

Rosado should make it entertaining, but Monroe will pick his spots and out point Gabe to a clear decision.

Gabriel Rosado defeats Willie Monroe Jr. by a unanimous decision and then proceeds to face Canelo Álvarez on the 10th December, which will be another lacklustre HBO PPV event.

... and if Canelo decides to stay at 154 (possibility of which DLH mentioned again today), Rosado can fight him at that weight too.

If Monroe loses a decision to Rosado it doesn't bode well for his career. Rosado really hasn't looked good for a while now. His last good effort was vs Quillin. Those cards were way too wide before the stoppage. He got smacked by Charlo and Lemieux before beating midget Clottey and some bum. Monroe would qualify as his best win...ever. What's his best win, Soto karrass? Then again Rosado would be Monroes best win but he's also not been around nearly as long. Line is now all the way to -220
From -150 so many are sharing same opinion.

Haha. Yeah. Got real nervous when I saw Dustin walk out with a Luke Rockhold smug look on his face.

Rosado couldn't get it going, he's big enough but he strikes me as a bit uncoordinated and his timing has always been off.
He's a tough fighter and game but against Monroe he was getting hit flush and beaten to the punch, Rosado rarely sustained any kind of attack at length.
That said neither did Monroe really but he was more dominant in the boxing area, more controlled and the precise of the two boxers.
Fight never really lit up, he had a few spurts here and there but it didn't go off like proper.
Result was legit.

Canelo's trainer laughed when asked about possibility of fighting Monroe. He said they would rather give Lara a rematch than facing another boring and lower ranked fighter. They were clearly hoping that Rosado would win, so that Canelo could have another execution fight at a catch weight before fighting somebody at 160 in May.

Can't blame them, Monroe did little to enhance a potential fight with his offering.
