Yeah, Tunney had 3 or 4 Heavyweight fights. I can see why that would omit him from his best division.BoxBuzz wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Spinks & Jones won Heavyweight belts.
I know, but in that case I did not vote for Spinks as a HW. I figure I can classify and vote for each fighter in one weight division only. Otherwise i guess I'd have to include Greb in every division. I had voted for Ezz on my top 10 HW list so left him out of the LHW. And I considered Tunney a HW. So left him out also.

It's totaly arbitrary....However if someone wishes to publish rules. I'll follow them. I probably should have left Spinks out as well. But I didn't have him in my thinking when considering HW's. Just as I did not have Archie in my mind when considering HW's. With Tunney and Spinks and Patterson, I just had them on my radar as HW's.

You're making a mountain out of a molehill. Rate the guys at the weight, period. Now if he's only using the original 8 we'll need clarification by middle as to what to do with the jr classes.

Forum is sure, but should not to force and solicit people's opinions.cfang wrote:
Keko seems to want us to not comment until all the votes are in. Well this is a forum and discussing each others lists - isn't that the point of this whole thing? If my list changes cos of what someone else says - then good for them and thanks, maybe they've pointed out something I missed.
All the latter mentioned (,Greb, Ezzard, Tunney, Langford) also can be ranked in two categories and I do not see the problem. My attitude is just that they are not allowed to watch the results from other categories of LHW all time. They really have nothing to do with this topic. Here it seems to me that some add some, and the results are because they so highly ranked.I can see some mention of victory and success in other categories when talking about ranking LHW all time
I repeat, not a title without reason, there is in boxing. In addition to winning the competition is equally important as the ranking lists that existed

Funny (and unfair) Spinks is going to end up high on this list - but he is going to always be remembered as the guy who caved-in against Tyson; unfair!

That's literally the last thing I think of when someone mentions Michael spinks.

Like I said...totally arbitrary....and inconsistent on my part or I wouldnt' have included Spinks.....That rating is what I've carried with me for a few years.
Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
A very deep division. Would have been great to see the Charles, Moore, Bivins era.
Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
Gotta add Johnson to that grouping.Tomasino wrote:A very deep division. Would have been great to see the Charles, Moore, Bivins era.
Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
Yea - but we're fight fans - try dropping his name to an average 'sports fan' - it is 'unfair' - he was dominate light-heavy and a good heavyweight but there is an entire generation of sports fan who never saw the guy fight except that one bad night.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:That's literally the last thing I think of when someone mentions Michael spinks.

Boxing was a much bigger deal then. Sure, there are those that have seen Tyson blitz him on classic ESPN. The majority of the newer sports generation in the states have never heard of him at all.

The great Michael Spinks was one of the most smart and intelligent boxers I have ever seen. A thinking man's fighter.

Definitely agree. I had him in my top 10.

Is this a list?Give up wrote:I am all for it
Moore, Loughran, Foster, Johnson, Conn, Rosenbloom, Spinks M., Jones Jr, Muhammad, Maxim
I have not included it in the points tally thus far (frankly, because it's odd that Ezzard Charles has been left out), I just need a quick clarification on this.
Is this is your list, just confirm it - and I'll add it to the total scores.
Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
Freedom of expression Buzz. Just need your all-time top 10 Light Heavies, each member is entitled to decide his own criteria on how he wishes to proceed.BoxBuzz wrote:It's totaly arbitrary....However if someone wishes to publish rules. I'll follow them.
You've already voted on this thread, and you're not allowed to change your vote, but bear it in mind for the Middleweight one coming up in November.
Re: The LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT game: *NOW OPEN*
We will be using the original 8 weight classes, then I might finish off with an ultimate P4P top 10.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Now if he's only using the original 8 we'll need clarification by middle as to what to do with the jr classes.
As for the in-between weights (Cruiserweight, Super Middleweight, Light Middleweight, etc...) I will leave that up to each individual poster as to where they want to rank different fighters.
Although there's no doubt that a lot of great former boxers will miss out because of this - Joe Calzaghe for example - undoubtedly one of the best Super Middles that we've had, yet he never fought at Middle & he only had 2 fights at Light Heavy, so he's going to be one of the many victims of this...

I pretty much covered it on here. Most disagree with me but I just feel his longevity and strength of record, particularly at LHW, give him the nod here. Some of Ezzards best achievements came in the heavyweight division
Not a popular opinion to be fair, just how I see it

I didn't attempt to change my vote....not sure what your referring to........and as far as "freedom of expression" no one champions that cause more than me...or takes flak for same.
Could use a little more of that rubbing off on you in Simulated matters. A place where autocrats and their arbitrary rule making runs amuck. If rules and regulations were kept to a minimum outcomes would be left to skill, craft and wiles, rather than outcomes being second guessed, inhibited, prohibited, influenced, guided, driven and predicated by subjective decisions vs the unbridled reign and unerring wisdom of the free marketplace.
