Joshua vs Ortiz
Joshua vs Ortiz
I know Joshua is feeling like a cruel joke is being played having this fight looming....Ortiz will be fighting on Joshua undercard soon....Ugh Oh....
Joshua is already saying that Ortiz being signed by Hearn has no affect on his life.

Re: Joshua vs Ortiz
Businesswise, no reason to match AJ with completely unknowm in UK Ortiz. He'll beat two-three local guys on AJ undercart this and next year to built a name in UK, and when will lose to AJ in ppv event and retire as rich man...bnovelist wrote:I know Joshua is feeling like a cruel joke is being played having this fight looming....Ortiz will be fighting on Joshua undercard soon....Ugh Oh....

Due to inhouse management - Hearns will decide who wins...at it will be 26yo cash cow and not old cuban guy.

Re: Joshua vs Ortiz
Maybe, just maybe Ortiz, a relatively unproven fighter in his late 30's might not be as tough an assignment for Joshua as some think? I think the hype of Ortiz is based on a lot of wishful thinking
Re: Joshua vs Ortiz
Well if you compare how he dealt with a durable guy like Bryant Jennings compared to how Klitschko did; he's not that unproven.lillywhite14 wrote:Maybe, just maybe Ortiz, a relatively unproven fighter in his late 30's might not be as tough an assignment for Joshua as some think? Re: Joshua vs Ortiz
Exactly... Ortiz is a killer... He's just being denied opportunities because of the ease that blasted out Jennings.. he''s an extremely skillful boxer... a tremendous puncher.. and a brutal finisher.. Plus he doesn't speak English... That's the first thing I would do if I were Hearn.. Hire a full-time tutor to teach Luis English.. If you say "Thank you my friends" and a few phrases like that -- that doesn't qualify as speaking English, but it's a first step.. In a year you should be able to speak English if you have a full time tutor and are determined to learn -- and you'll be a lot happier. He should plan to fight until he's 41 and then pull the plug.. I don't care how great you are.. After 40 you're more vulnerable to getting hurt unless you're extremely selective. Joshua-Ortiz is a potentially blockbuster 50MM fight if Ortiz could KO guys like Browne, Parker, and Pulev first.. Show those guys the money because those fights will sellout..lefty wrote:Well if you compare how he dealt with a durable guy like Bryant Jennings compared to how Klitschko did; he's not that unproven.lillywhite14 wrote:Maybe, just maybe Ortiz, a relatively unproven fighter in his late 30's might not be as tough an assignment for Joshua as some think? Re: Joshua vs Ortiz
Woad is old. He's been old for a while now. He looked poor in the Jennings fight and the Fury fight. What's to say he has been past his best for a while now?
What is Ortiz's best win? Jennings? He is below the top level, hence why I said relatively unproven.
I hope he is as good as some of the hype suggests he is. I'm not sold yet though. A fighters class isn't shown beating guys a level below him, it's done fighting guys on his level. Hopefully this move by Ortiz opens the door to some big fights for him so we can find out how good he really is

I expect the talks around this fight to stay talks and then fight another Molina or something
Re: Joshua vs Ortiz
Does Joshua have a win than is better than Jennings though? Would you say Joshua is also unproven?lillywhite14 wrote:Woad is old. He's been old for a while now. He looked poor in the Jennings fight and the Fury fight. What's to say he has been past his best for a while now?

Re: Joshua vs Ortiz
I personally don't know how I'd call this fight if it happened tomorrow. We don't know what Joshua's chin is like, and we haven't really seen either in with top level guys.
However I think it's completely irrelevant. Won't happen until Ortiz is approaching 40 and Joshua has had bigger tests to prep him. When it does happen, Joshua wins on decision.
