I haven't made my mind up about what will happen in this bout, but for sure, the betting favourite is Golovkin by a country mile.

That being said, Jacobs has always seemed very sincere in his desire to face GGG and he is one of the most improved middleweights in recent years.

In my mind, this is Golovkin's best opponent to-date and I don't expect GGG to underestimate the challenge he is faced with.

This should be the fight where GGG fulfills his reputation, which means he won't take any risks against the Al Haymon fighter. He will almost certainly be defensively responsible, whilst being a tad less aggressive than we've seen him against easier foes.

Simply put: this should be the fight where we witness the very best version of GGG.

I think Jacobs will try to box GGG, use angles etc. The 'problem' with GGG is that he has a damn good footwork, judging of the distance and balance. I think GGG will use a lot his jab and his left hook in this fight. :OhYes:

He doesn't necessarily have to stay in a full blown attack mode, but I think he'd be wise to attack Golovkin with everything he's got relatively early in the fight just to buzz him or get his attention, and then maybe pick his spots so he doesn't get countered after GGG gets more settled.

I think the early all out assault though is his best bet.
Good recipe to get iced in one.
True, but it is Jacobs' only chance. He has never met anyone like 3G but 3G has not met anyone with the combination of speed, power, and overall athleticism (less the rock jaw) that Jacobs brings.

If Jacobs can get 3G's serious attention in an early firefight, it could get interesting, since Jacobs carries more than just the left hook that Lemieux presented. He brings the speed and skills of Brook combined with more comprehensive power than Lemieux.

The biggest opponent each other has ever faced, certainly will be a great fight. Imagine hard will be their training and preparation for this bout.

Good point people only see Jacobs side of it but this is GGG best offensively gifted-talented fighter he's going up against. Has the skills Lemieux lacked and size, power and offensive variety than Brook. GGG will get full credit for this if he beats Jacobs early for me.

Very predictable fight. Jacobs will come out and try to box and land shots from the outside. Shoe shine shots with some hard shots mixed in occasionally. Eventually he will get iced by an advancing Triple G.

I think Golovkin has lost some speed due to his age, but I also think he had some technical brilliance in his game that will be featured as he ages.

Golovkin should win.

Same way I see it.

Maybe, but Jacobs is taller, longer, faster and more comprehensively powerful than Lemieux. Jacobs could come in behind the jab with heavy artillery putting 3G in a place I have not seen him.

Jacobs is not the same boxer or man that he was v Pirog. He has been through a lot since then, fighting a tougher opponent than 3G.

But it all comes back to that chin. That is why Jacobs must rock 3G early, not just move him back.

I think we shall see that he is the same fighter. He fought ONE ROUND against a decent opponent, Quillin, the guy who was bullied by Gabe Rosado.

Jacobs hasn't fought any top 10 MW beside Pirog (KO loss) and Quillin (less than 3 minutes).

I dont think Jacobs is more powerful than Lemieux, though he is longer and faster. IMO he overwhelms opponents just as much with speed as with power.

It wont surprise me if he looks like a quick, point scoring boxer rather than a serious puncher.

Yea this is what I think. Jacobs will be the back foot boxer with quick pity pat punches. Golovkin might loose a couple early rounds but will eventually corner him and get to work on the body. Then the beat down begins.

I expect a close fight. Jacobs is a high quality fighter who is not there to make up the numbers. But I expect Golovkin to come through again despite some difficult moments.

Can you believe that Ring Magazine has Canelo rated at middleweight and junior middleweight and he's the Ring middleweight champion? Ring has Golovkin and Jacobs as the top two middleweight contenders.
