Silva vs Brunson on for 208, I'm always excited to see the spider fight he's still one of the most dangerous guys in the division and IMO beat Bisping.

I wish he would stop clowning around. He still has the skills but i feel his reflexes arent as sharp anymore. Hes still trying to get a rematch with Bisping i see.

I'm certainly more interested in the Khabib vs Feguson fight as I thought for the most part Woodley vs Wonderboy I thought tactically it was interesting but there just wasn't much action.
I really think the rematch will be the action fight we were NOT treated to the first time around...though Khabib and Ferg is FOTN for me as well.

To me he is a lot like RJJ everything is still kind of there but he is just missing that extra bit that made him special.

I think he has to clown around now because he doesn't have the stamina to fight hard for 5 rounds. He has to fight in bursts.

I thought bisping won. Silva had him hurt a few times but failed capitalise, and spent to much time clowning around.

Silva fucked himself by not following up when he KOd Bisping all he needed was to throw one punch on the ground and it would've been stopped. However how that round can be anything but a 10-8 I'm not sure. When one guy finishes the round knocked out it has to be a 10-8 round surely.

I had it a draw but I thought the fight could've been stopped after the knee.

I know it's just nostalgia but I'm excited to see BJ Penn tonight. It's just a shame he didn't move to Jacksons years ago.

Same. I find myself longing for the "old days" of the UFC a lot actually :-?

Imagine if Penn spent his career fighting at 145 & 155 instead of trying to fight guys at 170 and above. If he hadve been at a good camp like he is now during his entire career I'm sure that's what would've happened.

People keep its old school vs new school but BJs skills are not any different than a lot of the younger guys. He coupled unbelievable TDD, great BJJ and very solid boxing. It's about as well rounded as guys are now.

I wish bj was matched better here. I'm hesitantly excited, could be sad. I certainly am glad bj fought at 170, he could have skipped heavyweight though. Lol

His original win over Hughes cemented his legend status but his record at 170 is something like 2-5-1 with the only two wins coming over Hughes. It's easy to forget that at the time BJ submitted Hughes he was also the top rated LW in the world.

Prime BJ vs Aldo would be a dream fight of mine though.

The first gsp fight was awesome. He lit him up early. The second fight was huge, that should have been it for 170.

Definitely. I don't understand why he felt the need to keep going up to 170 doing great for a round then getting the piss beaten out of himself.

I thought he won't the first Frankie fight TBH and he likely would beaten most of the other contenders around at that time as well. I think if he can win tonight and get another win against another top 10 fighter we will see him pushed into a title shot due to his name value as long as Frankie isn't champ.

I loved seeing Oleinik get the win tonight, and by his specialty nonetheless. He's too old and isn't a good enough striker to make a serious run, but he is a true martial artist.

How about this for a prediction:

BJ Penn stops Yair tonight in the second round :bag:

Yair is a flashy striker, but not the powerful striker he thinks he is. My heart says that will play into BJ's strengths.

He leaves himself out there for counters, I just don't know if bj can take advantage anymore. He looks like the classic legend turned gym fighter. Being shot for the great ones is a matter of fractions.

BJ is in the lucky position and I expect a switch to Jacksons may help this where if he has lost a step striking and let's be honest he has, his grappling is still top notch and he could end up going in with a grappling heavy game plan especially if Jackson has fixed his biggest weakness which was his lack of cardio.

from the other thread
Impractical Poster wrote:I really like that BJ had camp with Jackson this time. Gives me some hope. But Jeez... Did they have to pick such a monster to come back and fight? This Rodriguez kid is a beast.
I hear he's been at Jackson for about a year as well so not just one 8-12 week training camp either so that's definitely a good sign. But again at 37 I'm trying so hard to not get my hopes up but inside I'm saying yeah but he's still BJ fornicating Penn
