Pulev is the guy most people are mentioning on the British & Irish forum. I would be happy with any except Klitschko and Fury. Klitschko should retire and Fury is going to take many months to get back into fighting shape. Fury should get some wins, some momentum, and then that can be a massive fight.

But yeah, Pulev, Ortiz, Wilder, Parker. Any of those would be good.

Likely? I voted Pulev. Boxers usually take the path of least resistance these days.

I'd want to see Joshua-Wilder.

Pulev is one of the most highly rated contenders in the division.

Nothing wrong with that fight being next for Joshua.

He's fighter of the year if he does what I recommend. Fight Pulev in August and Ortiz in December!

I have no problem with the fight. Pulev is highly rated and has been around a long time. I'm always for giving the older guys a shot as they won't be around forever.

Wilder and Wlad both have dangerous power. Parker is young and probably improving. Ortiz is a tough southpaw. Pulev is conventional and I do think would be the easiest fight for Joshua of the group.

Looks as if he's only gonna be out once more this year mate. October/November apparently. I thought he'd have been out another twice as well.

I'd like to see him in with Wilder next, but I can't see it happening this year, doubt Fury will be back anytime soon.

I hope Klitschko retires, nothing to prove and an ATG. I bet he takes the rematch though.

Blimey Tony, be fair. I don't think AJ can be rightfully accused of taking the path of least resistance having supplemented his diet of unbeaten prospects with the finest heavyweight of the new millennium do you?

He's earned a gimme and you won't hear a word of complaint out of me if his next opponent is Christian Hammer, Robert Helenius, or Princess Michael of Kent.

The Wilder fight will happen down the line provided Wilder keeps winning, and given the calibre of opposition favoured by his management thus far I believe we can take that as a given. In the meantime I was thinking Pulev before the poll: He is highly rated, well respected - although I don't really understand why since he hasn't done very much more lately than Bermane Stiverne who gets very little respect these days. Pulev even gave AJ a swerve not so long ago didn't he? - and lacks the artillery to be a serious threat to AJ's unbeaten record.

Pulev would be a very respectable next defense and probably not too taxing despite his top 6 rating.

Well said Horse I am of the same mind. I know his last fight was a KO defeat but if he was in good to go shape I'd be perfectly happy to see the old bruiser Ruslan Chagaev get one last hurrah and ride off into the sunset with an overflowing pension-pot. I'm just an old romantic, me :D

Pulev has no chance, Parker too. Wilder has puncher's chance, but rather slim. Ortiz has passed his prime. If Fury (fit, in shape) is able to be extremely mobile, he might get a decision, but only one mighty Joshua's punch would change the situation.
There are a lot of topics about Klitschko-Joshua match/rematch, and I will not add anything.....

Past the money, he knows he can win. He could potentially end his career with an alltime type trilogy. If Wlad won the rematch the third fight would be up there for richest fights ever. I definitely want to see the rematch more than anything else. All good options but Pulev.

He should probably fight Pulev to keep his IBF belt and safely earn a good chunk of money.

Joshua has risen faster than any HW in recent memory. He's on a fast track course. All I was saying was that they may give Joshua a relatively easy defense in Pulev. Hopefully, its easy. I'm a big fan of Joshua, I could just see the promoters avoiding the unifications for now.

Hey, you gave Horse credit for the line: "I'm always for giving the older guys a shot as they won't be around forever." That was my line Dammit, not his! :OhYes:

I'd understand if he fought Wilder but it's just dumb, why waste time? Especially if you have it early, Pulev for instance wouldn't do much damage I don't think.

A rest first and foremost, then sit back and take a look at all the options.
To be proper if the rematch clause is true Joshua should honor it because it is Wladimir Klitschko, Wlad has earned enough respect for a rematch and came over to our gaff and performed admirably so Anthony should do the right thing when the time is right.
It's a great story for Joshua and to share the ring with Wladimir who put up such a good fight makes it look all that much better, I'm still reeling from the weekend.
Both of em did boxing a great service thanks gents

Klitschko.. Wilder.. Ortiz.. Parker.. Pulev.. or Fury????

Pulev can't fight and barely beat Chisora... Parker is a little better, but he wouldn't take the fight because he knows he'd get knocked out... Fury isn't practical to fight until he beat a contender and shows he's fit to reenter the ring... Klitschko could make a ton of money again, but he would be beaten a lot faster. Joshua learned one Hell of a lot during the fight and never made the same mistake twice. That was a rough fight for a 41-year-old man and a rematch would only get worse. Wladimir put his body through Hell to get ready for the fight of his life.

That leaves 2 guys... Oritz may not be the most intelligent pick for Joshua to fight next, even though Ortiz is the most deserving and long suffering guy out there... Ortiz is the most dangerous Heavyweight in the world and he's aging rapidly. Why not put that fight off for a fight or 2 -- or for ALAP?

The Wilder fight would be perfect... Wilder is dangerous -- but he still has flaws that can be exploited and he can be tagged and broken down ... and KO'd

Sorry Tony I did didn't I. It's all these damn quotes within quotes within quotes. You can add a one line comment and it takes up half the page on here.

I thinks it speaks volumes for Joshua that we are talking Pulev as a soft option. He'd still be the most impressive name on Wilder's resume (or arguably second behind Stiverne).

I'd like to see AJ fight Pulev next and keep hold of the IBF belt, though quite why a give a flying one about the IBF I have no idea. Boxers are the livestock and the governing bodies are the parasites who feed off them. Their stripping of Fury and threat to do likewise to AJ is quite despicable, but all the alphabet boys are unfit for purpose when it comes right down to it. It's a shame boxing puts up with them.

I'd prefer to see Luis Ortiz as that would be more of a test but that's the point, AJ deserves to take it a bit easier after Klitschko.
