Re: Josh Warrington vs. Kiko Martinez - May 13th 2017
On paper you would've thought this was a classic case of Warrington getting Martinez at the right time but you just never know, Kiko's still only getting beat by top fighters like Santa Cruz, Frampton and Quigg, I only seen highlights of his fight with LSC and the last time I seen him fight was when Quigg blew him away in 2, he has lost that durability but I imagine he'll come to win and his constant pressure could trouble Warrington who although is tough isn't the strongest
Warrington has done very well but he's been very well matched, guys like Munroe, Lindsay and Hyland were all finished but the Amagassa win was a very good win and showed that Josh doesn't mind getting his hands dirty when needed, it wouldn't be the biggest surprise to see Martinez bully him for an upset but I reckon Warrington's tough enough and has enough in his tank to go punch for punch with Kiko to win it on points

I wouldn't be shocked to see Kiko stopping him. One thing we know Kiko has no fear in going to someone's backyard to upset the odds. This will be a tough fight for Warrington given his lack of power and Kiko's durability.
Also, nice to see the women fighting over three minute rounds.

Re: Josh Warrington vs. Kiko Martinez - May 13th 2017
If you hadn't seen Warrington fight before but seen his record which is something like 25-0 with only 4 KOs, you would assume he's more of a boxer but he fights like he can punch, he likes to be on the inside and Martinez loves it there as well and I could see a scenario where Kiko coming out on top in a gruelling fight, in saying that Josh is a tough lad himself
Re: Josh Warrington vs. Kiko Martinez - May 13th 2017
I think Warrington could force a late stoppage. Kiko is way past it. He drew with a no mark a fight or two ago. I'd really like to see him make a fight of it but I'm not sure how much he has left. Warrington is young, fresh and with that bat shít mental crowd behind him.handsofstone wrote:If you hadn't seen Warrington fight before but seen his record which is something like 25-0 with only 4 KOs, you would assume he's more of a boxer but he fights like he can punch, he likes to be on the inside and Martinez loves it there as well and I could see a scenario where Kiko coming out on top in a gruelling fight, in saying that Josh is a tough lad himself
I bet it would be bedlam in there if Kiko managed to pull it off

I remember Martinez coming over here to fight Munroe, that was a good few years ago now ay mate
Re: Josh Warrington vs. Kiko Martinez - May 13th 2017
First I'd heard of him was when he chinned Bernard Dunne. That must've been about ten years ago man! He's had some career. After Frampton KOd him I thought he'd have hit the skids but he went on and won a world title and made a couple of decent defences.handsofstone wrote:Stuarty30 wrote:I think Warrington could force a late stoppage. This fight with Warrington could've been a barnstormer a few years back but I'm not so sure now. Hopefully he has something left and makes a good go of it!
What show are you watching on Sat mate?

Yeah I remember that with Dunne mate, I never seen it though I'm not sure if it was shown here was it? I'm sure going into the first Munroe fight Martinez claimed to have been unbeaten amateur or pro??Stuarty30 wrote:First I'd heard of him was when he chinned Bernard Dunne. I imagine the Warrington card will probably start first so i'll probably stick with that and watch the Yafai card afterwards, I'm looking forward to the Sky card more although neither are steller
Re: Josh Warrington vs. Kiko Martinez - May 13th 2017
Can't remember if it was on tv mate. I might have watched it online afterwards. Same with the Cordoba fight. I know that was on RTE in Ireland. Again, I probably caught it online. Martinez is younger than me and he's been about forever man!handsofstone wrote:Yeah I remember that with Dunne mate, I never seen it though I'm not sure if it was shown here was it? Think I'm gonna stick the BT card on the telly and watch Sky go in the background. That saves me taking up the tv on the Sunday and getting verbals fae rent a gub
Re: Josh Warrington vs. Kiko Martinez - May 13th 2017
Kiko and Dunne was on RTE, same as all Dunne's other big fights he was in in Dublin and Ireland.

Re: Josh Warrington vs. Kiko Martinez - May 13th 2017
Can't see anything other than a dominant Warrington points win or late stoppage.
Kiko slightly on the side and I'd argue this version of Kiko isn't as good as Amagasa who Warrington beat.
Pretty soft fight IMO that the promoters can sell as competitive due to Kikos record and past exploits on British soil.

strange one that. I thought the undercard on B0xNati0n acting as a lead in to the BT Sport main card was a good way to keep people involved in the show rather than switch over to Sky...Bristolcityfc1 wrote:Unless the EPG is updated allegedly not showing the undercard before BT start
If this is correct this BT deal means LESS Boxing-very poor

Re: Josh Warrington vs. Kiko Martinez - May 13th 2017
Don't think Kiko has much business at featherweight.
But Josh isn't a natural boxer, more like a super fit, strong and aggressive guy who's been moderately well schooled.
I have a question mark against Josh because after the one hard fight of his career, Amagasa, he took a step back rather than building momentum.
At a stretch you could expect a genuine fight. However you're more likely to get that in the British title undercard between Dickens and Ward.

If u ask him his had more than one hard fight. Fought away twice and pushed by 2 unbeaten fighters yes at a lower level but they weren't easy fights.

People forget this. When he fought Mouniemme it was for Samir to become a regular feature with Campbell and Coyle on sky.
He is right about the Amagasa fight. He is a decent fighter and that was perfect preparation for a fight with Selby.

Yeah he was. Shame Selby fight didn't happen then but they had their reasons rightly or wrongly. But with the change in promoter I can see a couple more of these fights b4 he gets a world title shot.

I know he's shopworn, but Kiko is only 31 and seems to be one of those fighters that loses badly but it doesn't ruin him, he comes back well from defeats. His punch is a danger esp if Warrington gets involved
