I didn't click the link. Mayweather is one of the better fighters ever but he did pick and choose, never fought Paul Williams(Williams weakness was southpaws-very effective against orthodox fighters) or Margarito before the discovery of Margarito hand wrapping methods, he got the scalps of De La hoya and Mosley when they were far past their prime, I also think he got lucky that Diego Corrales was headed to prison a couple days after their fight, and I think that must of distracted Corrales big time.

He wanted to fight Oscar and Shane much sooner. He left arum because of that fight. Remember Shane's tooth? Margarito was more about getting away from arum than anything else. I'd have to see him fight Williams.

OMFG! :o

I haven't read so much garbage in quite some time. I'm actually feeling a tad dumber after reading Mark Malinowski's fûckîng preposterous lengthy fictional-based article.

All that bûllshît has somehow damaged some of my brain cells.

I believe the story.its all true. Great story and yes, it was like the guy wrote it down. When pac, cotto, pw, margarito and tszyu were prime floyd had 10000000000000000000000 excuses & reasons why not to fight. One didnt bring enough money, the other didnt have enough star level, other were suspect of taking roids etc.. Funny how he never had excuses fighting b level like bruseles or guerrero.

I follow boxing since long time and i remember everything he wrote. It was exactly how he wrote it down.

Imagine ali would have 100000000 reasons not to face prime liston, prime frazier, prime foremon and would have fought and beat those atg when they were past prime yet still ali would have screamed "i am the greatest". Everybody would have shook their head and thought he is crazy. But floyd ducks prime pac, cotto and marga, fights them when they old and all of the sudden he is p4p #1 atg...gtfo here..no way

Nobody believes he is the P4P #1 of all time. Just because he claims it doesn't mean everybody believes it.

Very few believe it in the fact.

I think he's legitimately earned a place in the All Time Top 20 or Top 25, but that's about it.

He's certainly had an excellent career, and is the #1 boxer so far of the 21st century for what that's worth.

I don't need no text for that lol. I know that he doped all the time against many opponents, I know that he fought an injured Paquiao or whatever his name was. I see Wilder nowadays who will probably go down as an all time great in the future, while every interested neutral fan knows that even an elderly overweight Povetkin, Ortiz, but also Klitschko, even Briggs probably easely could handle him. I'm not even talking about AJ, either Fury (even at the age of 19), or name them.
Even his bronze medal in the olympics was a massive amount of luck. He only just won against 2 guys out there, one of them was actually a 10 vs 10+ fight, before he got absolutely dominated against the silver medal winner.

In modern days boxing, everybody is a champion and many top contenders aren't. Put Ortiz in front of previous world champions, like Stiverne, Parker, Martin, name them and what do you think would happen? Yea, I'm sorry, but there are simply too much bums and bumfighters world champion nowadays. Everybody is a champion nowadays.

Pac fought way more and fought more quality opponents and did that all while being much smaller with far less reach compared to floyd. Bein more impressiv in his prime than floyd. P4p pac the overall #1 boxer of the 21 c

I believe that Floyd ducked many fighters to preserve his undefeated record. I believe that he received preferential treatment from Vegas judges and referees. I believe that Floyd's abilities were enhanced by PEDs for at least half his career. Was he a hoax? I don't want to go that far because I witnessed Floyd's boxing ability and he was probably the most talented boxer in my generation. I think that Floyd would have defeated any boxer he got in with had he chosen to test himself and fight top opponents in their prime....but he didn't. History doesn't lie and that will always be Floyd's toughest opponent...a boxing history that proved that he, unlike the truly great fighters in the sport, never fought the best at their best and the avoidance was obvious and strategically orchestrated. That's history will be Floyd's lone defeat in the end.

Why did Floyd say "I don't love boxing like I used to because Boxing isn't real anymore" ?

calculation, luck and mirages are his career story.

Avoid Pacman until 6 years after his peak and he has been knocked out and beaten along the way.

Fight Corrales when he is heading for prison straight after the fight

Get a way past their best Judah,ODH ,Cotto and Mosley yet still have hairy moments. He could and should have fought them sooner.

People like Guerrero and Hatton were overrated in retrospect.....

Was afraid to enter the MW ranks of a GGG like SRL did with Hagler

The Alvarez win is his biggest achievement cant be denied as v impressive.

What a load of BS. Floyd offered to fight Pac after his 2 yr retirement, but Roach/Pac refused to move up. If Pac would have agreed to full random testing up to 2 weeks before the fight it would have happened 3 yrs earlier than it did. Roach admitted that.
Hatton was unbeaten, beat Kosta Tzuh (sp). that Floyd was supposedly ducking.
Guerrero hadn't lost in 7 yrs. Hindsight is 20\20.
Floyd called out Cotto, Mosley, DLH before Floyd was a welter.
Past his prime Judah? Please...

it was all smoke and mirrors lies corruption ducking fixing handpicking and probably PEDs. Like Sugar Ray Leonard once said: Floyd Jr and Sr were the same level of fighter. But one had protection the other did not.

It's not a hoax

His career is HoF level he's an exceptional boxer

His cautiousness in the ring and out of it match making will forever be his Achilles heel when in the all time debates try to mention his name in the same breath as a ray Leonard or Duran etc
