Exactly I think the best GGG can do is a decision win. GGG will never be the big star Canelo is but GGG by stoppage is the worst outcome as boxing sees it. What does GGG do next can Canelo ever reached the peak again after a KO loss. I just don't see Canelo will get every benefit of the doubt here as long as his chin holds up and I think that's less of an issue as some believe.
This is a great point above and a big part of the reason I feel this will be a bad night for the sport. Boxing's best outcome in this fight is Canelo winning and his star growing brighter. Canelo then continues to take over Boxing and Vegas and unlike Floyd, Canelo is a likable, marketable entity.
If GGG wins then what? Boxing is then back to square one in their search for that boxer to be the face of the sport. There's way too much future money on the line for Canelo to lose this fight. Won't happen. If he finishes on his feet, he gets the win.
I agree and disagree with this
I understand canelo is the money fighter, so a lot of people at the top of the sport from a business sense will want to see him win. But finishing on his feet and being awarded an unjust decision really isn't what the sport of boxing needs. That would just seem another cycle of a face of boxing that is fake of sorts, it's a turn off having another face of the sport that clearly has the odds tilted in his favour.
The best thing for boxing is a classic fight. Be it a war, or a fight so high on quality and action we have to see it again. Rematches and trilogies are amongst one of the best things about boxing as it shows rivalry.
If golovkin "wins" he needs the decision to reflect it and vice versa for boxing integrity
We don't need ONE face of boxing. We just got rid of one who dragged the sport down. Soccer, American football, hockey don't have one face and are doing very well. Ww need MANY boxers with entertaining styles willing to fight best opposition. That will revive boxing.

Boxing and integrity doesn't go together that's the problem. Where was the integrity in the Canelo-Mayweather scorecard or even Haskins-Burnett

Not every style is entertaining and that's the problem let fighters bash each other heads for several fights in a row and there carees over before they even start. That's a UFC fan not a boxing fan

You're right, but the sport is worse for it imo
Re Haskins fight. That was more incompetence I think. If it was corruption, the guy did a horrendous job of it. Haskins score of 118 was too high with knock downs included. Mind you if it was incompetence it was incompetence of the highest level that he couldn't work out who was in the red corner and blue corner

You don't need to go gatti ward every fight. Look at Pacquaios career for longevity and entertainment
It's good to have mixtures of styles etc but Mayweather at 147 and above was incredibly negative and the fights whilst from a manual point of view, its entertainment value is a bit of a let down

"Evenly match" is relative. After there's a stoppage, people say that the fight wasn't evenly matched. Hopkins Trinidad is an example. Hatton was considered a live dog in the Mayweather and Pacquiao fights BEFORE the bell rang. Sometimes even the opposite happens like DLH Pacquiao and Holyfield Tyson 1.
If this fight ends in a stoppage, based on where the fighters career goes, people will eventually say it wasn't evenly matched.
They will only say its not evenly matched if Canelo wins. People like myself who believe GGG is past prime. I do believe and I'm saying it before the fight win or lose I think this isn't prime GGG. More will come out after the fight and say it wasn't as well. We know fans will discredit the loser.
If GGG wins by stoppage, they will say it wasn't evenly matched and that Canelo wasn't a big middleweight.

You know, you're right. And they will reward Canelo for giving it a try against someone much bigger and stronger even though fans have been calling for this fight for 2 years. But i guarantee that Canelo will be heavier than GGG on fight night. Still they will say this which absolutely absurd.
I am a GGG fan first and foremost and I've seen GGG look human these last two fights. I think that Canelo actually has a good shot at winning this fight anyway unfortunately. I just want the winner to be the true winner or the fight decision be understandable.
