Khan surprised with Brook returning
Khan told Sky Sports News HQ:
"I'm very surprised he is carrying on because he can harm himself and harm his career. If I was him, or his advisors, I would tell him to retire and enjoy life."
"After two big losses, two bad losses as well, if he's thinking about fighting me that could be a third big loss and bad for his health."
"In his last fight against Errol Spence, he took a knee and gave up. In my opinion, he was doing really well in that fight, and he could have won it, there was only two rounds left."
"But he just went on his knee and didn't want any more of it. Sometimes, that tells you about someone's heart."

Re: Khan surprised with Brook returning
I think the last person Kell Brook would want career advice from is the idle Amir Khan, although I do sort of agree with what Khan is saying, to a degree.

I'm not sure Amir has the power to burst a spot let alone break an eye socket.
It suits Khan for Brook to retire as he won't be asked uncomfortable questions about why he won't fight Brook. Also frees him up to continue his obsession with getting a final pay day against Mayweather or Pacquiao.
Where I do agree with him is in relation to Brook coming back. 2 broken eye sockets in consecutive fights is definitely a concern if he wants another shot at the top level at what would probably be a weight up at Light middleweight.

No surprise here. Khan has always been something of a pretty boy and never known for being the kind of guy who goes out on his shield.
That being said, Amir could have the last laugh 20 years from now if he is still lucid and Brook is stuttering and stammering. But boxing IS the hurt business and Khan has always seemed a little squeamish about that side of it. Kell is more of a warrior than Khan...but there's a long-term price for being a warrior.

On second reading I have a different take.Ruthless-RKO wrote:Khan told Sky Sports News HQ:

Could Khan be paving the way for his continued ducking of Kell Brook? Perhaps laying the groundwork for not fighting Brook on the grounds that he "doesnt want to add to the woes" of a fighter who doesnt know when to hang up the gloves for his own good.
Then Khan throws in the capper by criticizing Kell for HIS supposed "lack of heart." Very crafty on Khan's part and I cant help but think that Amir has ulterior motives in his words.

The guys face is going to be made of titanium now. Brook's face will end up being the most durable in the sport after all that hardware. I've seen The Terminator movies. That guy was nearly unstoppable.

M.A. Barrera had a titanium plate put somewhere in his dome and had many fights after that, so it HAS been done before.caldo2025 wrote:The guys face is going to be made of titanium now. Brooks repaired eye held up really well in the Spence fight. Khan's just being a dick....AGAIN. For someone that's been put to sleep as much as him, he loves to yap about heart and toughness of other people. And worse for Amir Khan's health... I don't believe Khan will sign for the fight... He was offered MORE to fight Brook than fight Canelo... He's scared.Ruthless-RKO wrote: Khan: "After two big losses ... if [Brook's] thinking about fighting me that could be a third big loss and bad for his health."

Never going out on his shield? Show me one time Khan stayed down when he could have gotten up?Best Coast wrote:No surprise here. Khan has always been something of a pretty boy and never known for being the kind of guy who goes out on his shield.

Re: Khan surprised with Brook returning
The way Khan wobbled backwards into a corner ending the Garcia fight, told me he was begging the referee to stop it.
Re: Khan surprised with Brook returning
Mentioning that, Khan should have NOT been allowed to continue after the 3rd round vs Garcia. He was asked to raise his gloves and couldn't. Bayless raised them for him. Khan has had refs on his pocket before...ignoring head butts and low blows, etc.Kalan wrote:The way Khan wobbled backwards into a corner ending the Garcia fight, told me he was begging the referee to stop it.
Brook would KO Khan in 4 or 5 rounds.

He never "went out on his shield" because he never HAD a shield, although he could have definitely used one for his china chin!!
Re: Khan surprised with Brook returning
Anyone reading this quote needs to bear in mind...
1. Who it's come from - Amir Khan, a known bull shitter
2. Khans dislike of Brook
Used to like Khan but pretty much can't stand the guy now

He got up when he could, what the fornicate more do you want? He never quit on his knees or turned his back.

Khans does have heart even though I don't like him. He gets up as you say.Covfefe wrote:Terrible post.Best Coast wrote:I phrased that badly...thanks for bringing that to my attention.Covfefe wrote:

what happens with him and brook is chalk and cheese, Brooks stayed upright and in theory suffered more damage... amirs been cleaned out fairly early in fights so impact damage on his bones/body isn't put to the test in the same way.

Re: Khan surprised with Brook returning
Yeah at 147, or 154 where brook will be, Khan isn't punching hard enough to cause injury I don't think. Handy puncher at 140 but that's different size menLackeos wrote:"if he's thinking about fighting me that could be a third big loss and bad for his health."

I've always been a huge fan of Khan, but the last 4 - 5 years of his career has frustrated me.
I just roll my eyes when he speaks now & I really couldn't care if he fought again or not.
