He's always had time for the fans when I've seen him at shows but told me where to go when I was slightly drunk and asked him to explain his reasoning for fighting outside in the midday sun in vegas.Noxy wrote:I've never met Barry but I went to see Carl against Molitor a few years back. Barry was there surrounded by a lot of fans and there was this young boy on the outside of the group. He looked starstruck but too shy to do much about it. But I guess everyone has their bad days as well.boxingknockout wrote:Cyclone Promotions must be in serious trouble. I used to see the whole posse in Battersea a bit. Swaggering around in a big group. Looked like way too many heads for a small outfit.
The gym in Battersea must cost loads and is only used by pro fighters (who won't pay) and people doing one on ones.
I spoke to Shane once, he was very nice, even a bit shy. Barry wasn't very friendly when I said I wanted a photo for an Irish friend.

Aye, I can believe that. In his autobiography he says it was the last thing he wanted to do.dave_smith wrote:He's always had time for the fans when I've seen him at shows but told me where to go when I was slightly drunk and asked him to explain his reasoning for fighting outside in the midday sun in vegas.Noxy wrote:I've never met Barry but I went to see Carl against Molitor a few years back. Re: Frampton split from McGuigan??
For me if i was him i'd go to Hearn , Eddie continually says he holds no grudges and he'll work with anyone , has long has Frampton can stay top level , i think Hearn would give him the better deal , Eddie needs nore PPV fighters , after all he can only get Bellow Haye so many times , Brook is just about finished , only a Khan fight left , that could be PPV ,, Joshua well who is here for him thats PPV worthy more easy fights he has the more the ppv value drops ,, i think Hearn actually needs Frampton
Re: Frampton split from McGuigan??
Good luck to Carl whatever he decides
Re: Frampton split from McGuigan??
Agree with that Hearns not daft - whether Frampton thinks he's a prick or not he carries the cash that Frampton is looking for over next 18-24 months to set himself up for life (if not already)coneye wrote:For me if i was him i'd go to Hearn , Eddie continually says he holds no grudges and he'll work with anyone , has long has Frampton can stay top level , i think Hearn would give him the better deal , Eddie needs nore PPV fighters , after all he can only get Bellow Haye so many times , Brook is just about finished , only a Khan fight left , that could be PPV ,, Joshua well who is here for him thats PPV worthy more easy fights he has the more the ppv value drops ,, i think Hearn actually needs Frampton
Similarly with Frampton you don't need to like the guy to work with him - if he can give you Windsor Park next summer then you sign regardless.
Frampton got 1m (US) for 2nd Leo Santa fight - can't remember the 1st purse but take away Shane %/Cyclone %/ Camp costs etc then Tax etc - not huge amount really for World Title fight when you work it into pounds.

But what fights will Hearn get for him though ?3132DW wrote:Agree with that Hearns not daft - whether Frampton thinks he's a prick or not he carries the cash that Frampton is looking for over next 18-24 months to set himself up for life (if not already)coneye wrote:For me if i was him i'd go to Hearn , Eddie continually says he holds no grudges and he'll work with anyone , has long has Frampton can stay top level , i think Hearn would give him the better deal , Eddie needs nore PPV fighters , after all he can only get Bellow Haye so many times , Brook is just about finished , only a Khan fight left , that could be PPV ,, Joshua well who is here for him thats PPV worthy more easy fights he has the more the ppv value drops ,, i think Hearn actually needs Frampton

Look at Kell Brooks career he consistently failed to get him fights best for him. Khan,Vargas,Rios,Thurman,Garcia, Bradley ( which they turned down). Spence was a mandatory GGG was a joke.
Hearns a good promoter but Frampton doesn't need him now.
I think it will be with Schaefer.
Re: Frampton split from McGuigan??
Frampton is entering the calzaghe/Hatton phase of his career where he really does not need a promoter. Solid fan base all he needs is fight dates which Haymon will deliver.

Re: Frampton split from McGuigan??
Massive shame, as Barry really brought Carl through from nowhere to the big time, and boxing on 5 could have proved a big breakthrough for the sport with world titles on offer - terrible if he goes to the massively undeserving daddy's boy Hearn and that bunch of feckless charlatans at sky TV .
Thought Barry's son was pretty clueless in Carl's loss, but a big time trainer should have been brought in instead ...

Re: Frampton split from McGuigan??
The criticism of Shane seems to ignore how good LSC was in the rematch.
Re: Frampton split from McGuigan??
Halfway through the fight you could see the tactics were not working in the rematch - that's when the top class trainers would try change it when it's going wrong.samwbr wrote:The criticism of Shane seems to ignore how good LSC was in the rematch.
I'd like to see Frampton with Adam Booth.

Frampton was their meal ticket - they built of the back of him rather than the other way around.MightyWarrior wrote:Massive shame, as Barry really brought Carl through from nowhere to the big time, and boxing on 5 could have proved a big breakthrough for the sport with world titles on offer - terrible if he goes to the massively undeserving daddy's boy Hearn and that bunch of feckless charlatans at sky TV .

You go where the cash is - that's why Carl's done this. He should have done it a long time ago.
You should have Manager and Promotor - not same person doing both as it's a conflict of interest.
Re: Frampton split from McGuigan??
Carl thought he would knock him out, Shane wasn't telling him the same thing each break. Think he's getting criticised a bit unfairly, not blameless but Carl is culpable too.3132DW wrote:Halfway through the fight you could see the tactics were not working in the rematch - that's when the top class trainers would try change it when it's going wrong.samwbr wrote:The criticism of Shane seems to ignore how good LSC was in the rematch.

Does Adam Booth have a plan B? Don't think I've ever seen it in fights where his tactics aren't working3132DW wrote:Halfway through the fight you could see the tactics were not working in the rematch - that's when the top class trainers would try change it when it's going wrong.samwbr wrote:The criticism of Shane seems to ignore how good LSC was in the rematch.
