Re: amir khan, watched old footage
He's a very exciting fighter altogether. Very skilled offensively, very vulnerable defensively...makes for a lot fun. It's a shame he spent so much of his career waiting around for something to happen instead of trying to make it happen.man wrote:can't help it, one of the most exciting

the floyd-pac level. these would
have been tremendous fights.
Re: amir khan, watched old footage
He has only himself to blame for that. He sat around waiting for his phone to ring for those fights instead of going out, beating credible opponents and earning them. He never deserved those fights for going about it that way, but I agree they would've been interesting contests.man wrote: it is a pity he didn't make it to

Re: amir khan, watched old footage
Relatively speaking, all of Khan's fights are old ones. The division barely has the same landscape since he fought last.
I didn't know who Errol Spence Jr was 2 years ago... Khan wouldn't last 4 rounds with him.

Re: amir khan, watched old footage
I think that he managed his career quite well. They knew they could not afford another loss if they wanted a mega fight. They cherrypicked fights that he was less likely to do the chicken dance in.
While they failed to get Manny or FMJ to bite, he got his relatively big payday v GingerHead, basically sacrificing himself for the $$$.

My second least boxer ever.
Though his fights were fun to watch I only watched him praying he would lose.
Complete douche bag.

khan is neither interesting nor
relevant.

good money boxing. i am happy
for everyone who achieves that
within the ring.
it is kind of the same thing as with
wlad. he had to manage his style
since he got to easily caught.

Dislike Khan the man, but he was tremendously gifted boxer
Mentally not completely on it though. Should have beaten Garcia but he got sucked in by angel and wound up about what was going on. He wasn't durable enough for a war.
Few career decisions that weren't on the money, especially stitching up Kell Brook.

He's only 30, still time for another run.
Re: amir khan, watched old footage
He had a very exciting run from 2009-2012
Also up there with the fastest hands I've seen....

Re: amir khan, watched old footage
I never rated him that highly. Good speed and threw good combinations. But, an accident waiting to happen.

Fastest hands I've seen live, went to the garden to watch him vs malignaggi and the arena was in awe at his hand speed.
Hugely exciting fighter under roach for all the reasons already mentioned. I always thought it a shame the Bradley fight didn't happen.

Please, do not compare Khan to Wlad. That is the dumbest comparison I could even think of. Khan is/was an excellent offensive amateur boxer, and never had the chin to get to the top level in the pros. Khan could be ahead of anyone after 3 rounds, then he is done...unless the other guy is a light hitter. He was saved by the ref vs Maidana at 140, but Maidana was ready to quit boxing at the time, and was a whole different animal at 147, which is why Khan flat out refused tofight him again. He is among the dumbest boxers I have ever seen/heard, with a unbelievable hilarious, undeserving, hubris attitude. Every time he got KO'd, starting at 135 he blamed it on the weight cut..continuing to 140, and 147. The guy is a self made joke of the boxing world.
Re: amir khan, watched old footage
I agree that he is pretty comical, but he has had a decent career, made a lot of money and survived having a notoriously porcelain chin, combined with huge heart. I think that it is commendable what he has accomplished in boxing, competitively and economically.

2009 - 2011 was prime Khan.crusader wrote:He had a very exciting run from 2009-2012

2012 was a complete disaster for Amir.
Afterwards, he never challenged himself against any top 5 at 140 or 147,
and was content to sit on the sidelines demanding fights with Floyd and Manny.
Fortunately for him, there was a "Face of Boxing" phony enough to fight him ... on PPV

Used to compare Khan to Zab, but now I'm going to stop that.
Zab will be remembered for Witter (2000), Tyszu (2001), Corley (2003), Spinks (2004),
Spinks (2005), Baldomir (2006), Mayweather (2006), Cotto (2007), Clottey (2008),
Mattysse (2010), Khan (2011), Garcia (2013)
Zab fought all of these guys in their prime. 2000-2013
Khan has Kotelnik (2009), Malinaggi (2010), Maidana (2010),
Peterson* (2011), Garcia* (2012) *try to remember their status before the Khan fight ...
Alvarez (2016)
People be using words like ballsy and brave for Khan, but it's not true.
The guy was one of boxing's worst duckers and he barely fought any

You can't put a * by Garcia and Peterson saying remember where they were before the fight, the claim junior witter for Judah
Re: amir khan, watched old footage
Good post as i have always felt the same way. So much talent and there's nothing you can do about being born without a chin. I do feel that Khan's done way more than he should have with that chin so credit to him. But i agree, this kid was always great to watch to me.
