I found it likeable that GGG threw about 200 punches more than Alvarez and extremely dislikeable that Alvarez landed about 150 fewer

Canelo was slicker, but GGG was busier. I can see how someone could score it for Canelo.

Swept the first three with his eye-catching punches, next five Golovkin with his caveman-like pursuit and pressure. Ninth I couldn't separate them, perhaps on reflection GGG could have just shaded it which would have been a draw. Final three Canelo rallied to snatch the win.

I think Canelo squandered too many rounds laying on the ropes. If he can rectify that in a rematch he could win more decisively. Not easy because of Golovkin's power and the sort of aggressive stalking that hasn't been since since Tuan Jim had a Facebook.

How did you lot score it?

Golovkin won eight rounds. You talked shite before the fight, you're talking shite now.
I had it 117-111 Golovkin. I think Alvarez landed some solid shots though, they just bounced off.

I think GGG deserved the win but also think the dodgy scorecard has everyone exagerating how bad the decision was. It was a close fight, really close.

GGG threw more but Canelo put his punches together way better imo. I had no problem with the draw thou but canelos work was cleaner.
If there is a rematch maybe canelo should come in lighter for stamina reasons

Canelos *strength and conditioning* programme definitely seems to have been *geared* towards muscle bulk, which may well have been why he lacks a bit of *juice* in a lot of rounds, there are long periods of rounds where you wonder if he is rope a *doping* the other fighter, but as I say I think it's more a lack of *juice* than a deliberate tactic, because Alvarez doesn't have a very HiGH output he is very easy to outwork. You almost wish there had been a little bit of *needle* between them maybe that would have *pumped Alvarez full of* the will and desire, the *testosterone*-type aggression, that he needed.

I had it Golovkin 8-4.

Canelo just couldn't keep him off when he got going, though I thought Canelo did well at times and landed some lovely stuff. Canelo moves like his feet are in concrete when he tires and he was just there for Golovkin. Golovkin has a great chin and a fantastic engine.

Maybe in future Canelo will instead of a *strength and conditioning programme* he will simply have a *conditioning* programme, and the EPOnymous effect of such a programme would improved his stamina

I had it really wide to Golovkin.
But I gave him a few of the close round based on the consistent pressure so I could have seen it being a closer scorecard.

Scoring the draw would have been a stretch and I really cant make a case for Canelo winning it.
It's one of those fights where afterwards,if you hadn't scored it and asked who you felt won it, it had to be GGG for me.

The 118-110 should be the last world title scorecard Bird ever puts in. But I agree with those that say this card has perhaps exagerated the sense of injustice

The *chemistry* of the fight was good but Canelos *performance* could have been *enhanced* by a different emphasis in his *strength and conditioning* programme. Mind you, who needs to actually win 7 rounds when the judges are clearly either *on drugs*, or corrupt as fvck.

I had Canelo winning the first three and R10, with good arguments for a couple of drawn rounds. Golovkin applied most of the pressure and did most of the work (although that's not to overlook Canelo's skills as an energy-conserver), so Moretti's card felt about right to me, even if I disagree with how he arrived at it.

Narrow but convincing for Golovkin, and I only give those early rounds to Canelo because Golovkin was out of sorts, thus Canelo takes the credit.

Canelo started and ended well, GGG did everything in between, really enjoyed the fight but the result has pissed me right off.

A few points:

1) Those favouring Canelo or even the draw seem not to consider the jab a scoring punch

2) Relating to the above, those who've mentioned in other threads about Canelo scoring more 'power punches' are clearly disregarding that the way GGG frequently deploys the jab is the equivalent of a power punch - it's a thud rather than tap.

3) Those talking about Canelo's 'cleaner' work clearly missed the fighter from round 6 onwards who was frequently throwing combinations that hit air or GGG's gloves.

116-112 for me and that's being as generous as I can towards Canelo. Thought Jacobs had a fair stronger argument for draw or narrow win.

Jacobs did have a stronger claim. The only thing that went against him, for me, was that he fought like a man who knew he had to be phantomlike. I know that's daft — I loved Whitaker! — but it was hard to escape an awareness of how his fear moderated his actions even if he did win on points. Which he might've done.

If any of Golovkin's fights were a draw, that's the one. I'm not questioning Jacobs' courage, by the way, he just fought a very sensible fight that wasn't the old cliche of ‘taking it from the champ’.
