Yes it was. Now fornicate off and stop trying to justify judges ruining the sport.

It's tempting to score rounds for GGG as he walks onto huge shots which appear to not phase him, it's not correct but very hard to not do.

Total robbery.
Exactly how I saw it. 4-9 were CLEAR GGG. The 1st round was clearly GGG as well with the jabs. The 10th was also but people mistakenly thought GGG got hurt at the start. That's 8 CLEAR rounds. Canelo gets rounds 2/3 and let's just give him the last two since that's what the judges did. That still only adds up to four, and only half of that was clearly won. The close scores are horrible gifts. Not sure why Byrd is singled out. They're all garbage.

Especially the draw card which had Canelo winning the 7th.

Here we go. I assume it's the same with any message board, people wake up wanting to go against the grain and ruffle up some feathers. Good for them. So some people will spend time explaining why they scored the fight for Canelo in an effort to piss people off and spend some spare time arguing. But i'm not falling for it this time and i'm not going to fall for it in a week or two weeks or a year when there's still no rematch.

Because here's the deal. If you honestly scored this fight for Canelo or a draw even then you do not know enough about the sport. I'm not going to call them stupid but in terms of Boxing IQ, they are not smart. They may be able to do your taxes but they can't and shouldn't discuss boxing decisions ever again.

Because there's no possible way, Canelo came remotely close to winning this fight. I didn't see one round that I could clearly give to Canelo and be sure that it was accurate. People point to the first 3 rounds but I didn't see anything that resembled a clear cut round winner for Canelo. So from here on out, if you had Canelo winning the fight...do not respond to any of my posts because I don't have time to teach you the sport.

You have to (in reality) know the sport well enough to teach it. Thank you for not attempting to teach others something you do not know yourself.

For the record; I do not know boxing well enough to instruct others in it either.

I agree that rounds 4-9 are definitely for Golovkin. All he needs to do is win one more round and he wins. I had Golovkin winning rounds 1 and 11. I scored rounds 2, 3, 10, and 12 for Canelo.

I had 10 for GingerHead first time around (I think). 2nd time through I thought 3G came on and clearly took it. It was one of the two best rounds of the fight (along with 12). In both 10 and 12 GingerHead came on strong and 3G answered. I gave 12 to GingerHead both viewings but even 12 was very close. 10 was the clearest round of the fight, 2nd time through.

Edit; I actually had 10 very close for 3G realtime. I gave GingerHead 9 very close. I really think that it was a 117-111 fight. I just think that 3G answered every GingerHead offensive. You can find rounds for the Mexican but you have to look hard. 1,2, and 3 are the most likely candidates and 11, 12. Out of those I can only justify 2, 3, and 12 and that is not easy. In 12 GingerHead came out strong but 3G finished.

The argument for GingerHead having the flashier and cleaner shots comes from the fact that he did so much less than 3G so his combos were more flashy. There were nowhere near enough of them.

I had Canelo winning. GGG was missing with lot of hes shots. All the eyecatcing and accurate punches came from Canelo.
Maybe I have to watch it again. I gave only like 4 rounds to GGG. For me GGG just kept missing with his punches.
Canelo out boxed and virtually did what he wanted. He didn't to as much as he should have but all GGG did well was pressure. But it didn't work cause he didn't really land. I saw the compubox statistics but it doesn't reflect what I saw with my own eyes. All I can say that lot of GGG-s shots were grazing shots that didn't land anywhere flush but most of Canelo's shots landed right on the mark.

..I have a problem making a case for a boxer fighting in spurts as well as "rubbing" the ring ropes with his back in the most rounds..

Let's face it, his huge fanbase doesn't even think he won.

They prefer the styles displayed last night in Ramirez and Valdez.

I had it 8-3-1 in GGGs favor, but a fair few rds could have went either way.

I have no issue with a Canelo win, and even wide on the cards.

Totally agree so count me in among those that missed GGG kicking ass in this fight as well. :TU:

I can see scoring the fight for GGG, but a robbery? If this is a robbery, then what decision isn't a robbery?

There is a lot of boxing knowledge on this board, I bet that if we threw out 10 fights that we largely agreed were clear robberies that none of those fights would look anything like this fight.

If it was 115-113 GGG, 115-113 Canelo, and 114-114, would there be such an uproar? Isn't this really just about one card being 118-110?

It would still be really hard to justify 115-113 Canelo. Even to have it 114-114, Trella had to give Canelo round 7 clearly won by GGG.

It wouldn't be a robbery if cards were justifiable, but even Trella's card isn't.
