just considering British level bouts first, since they wouldn't be bad for him after coming out of the super series, Darryll Williams is the reigning English champion and a clash between the pair would be a good watch or at the same time a return match against Cello Renda would be a good comeback fight.
get williams-cox made. right type of fight for him imo. would be his best win, and if he wins that then moves to higher level. would prob be a fun fight too.

Its the first time he's stepped up in any sort of level after clearly being matched very carefully & it was a step too far for him.

I'm all for fighters being built up slowly but he went from splashing about in the kiddies pool to an Olympic pool & was just out of his depth.

He had 10 years to build himself up to a decent level at a reasonable pace.

His backers clearly didn't believe in him. I wonder why.

If it was up to me the talks would already be getting made. Both men have everything to gain, there's a domestic title on the line, the public can get interested in it and it's a good set up for the winner to take on Rocky Fielding next for the British and Commonwealth after the fight's done.

Hmmmm, the official scorecards at the time of the stoppage including the partially scored round the fight was stopped in, sauerlands, tv, and all others say ringside who are professionals and involved in the sport say Jamie was winning, not just someone with a personal opinion who isn't involved in the sport :TU: so Fvck knows what you was watching

Wasn't competitive ? Is that just your opinion ?
The fight was very competitive hence Jamie was ahead on all official scorecards with judges when fight was stopped, groves even said it was very competitive, so I'd say there views and options count for more as they was there and involved, so I think that says otherwise

You can't judge Jamie isn't world class on that stoppage imo lee, it was a world class body punch, by a world class fighter, dug in with serious power, rotation and pin point accuracy, as Jamie was fully extended throwing himself, nothing can be done about that, the body punch would of folded any heavyweight in the world in half, and tbh Lee you should know that regarding the body shot, I've seen guys get dropped in the gym with baby body shots, the body shot that Groves threw was something else, in his own words best he's probably ever thrown

Horse, you don't like Jamie personally and that's fine, same as anyone else is entitled to as that's there opinion, but this is a BOXING FORUM, to talk honest and sensible about the sport of boxing, but too many idiots like yourself on here who know absolutely nothing about the sport other than what you watch and think you know. I'll list the FACTS of the fight below for you and any other ignorant, uslesss, unimportant. Irrelevant, lack of real boxing knowledge fools.

1: Jamie got caught with a world class body punch whilst throwing himself, the punch would of folded any heavyweight in the world in half, groves in his own words after said it's probably the best punch he's ever thrown :TU:

2: Jamie was winning the fight against groves (not in my opinion or your opinion) it was official on the judges scorecards including the partially scored round like the rules dictated they must (as I was in the rules meeting with WBA, sauerlands, TV, promoters, officials, YOU WASNT :TU:

3: jamie hurt George on at least 2 occasions not only my opinion who was in the corner not sat at home watching on tv but also the opinion of referee Steve gray who after one of the incident pulled them apart as George was holding on for dear life and felt very unsteady and seemed he been hurt in his opinion :TU:

4: Jamie was unmarked and George was marking up quite badly and starting to breath heavy.

5: George again in his own words not mine or yours, landed very heavy shots on jamies chin, clean and he just walked through them, shots that have knocked any other fighters he's landed them on out, he knew Jamie was strong and fit and tough and knew he had to do something and change it up as Jamie was walking through them head shots, so to his credit he did and found that world class counter body punch which I'll say again in groves own words was probably best punch he had ever thrown :TU:

6: again in groves own words and again I quote, he thinks Jamie is a WORLD CLASS middleweight but felt him being the bigger man and a big super middleweight would be beneficial and pay off and that would win him the fight, but Jamie is "WORLD CLASS"

I could go on all day and quote facts, not my opinion and not your opinion, but I won't, the point I'm trying to make us that you along with others don't like Jamie and that's fine, but you can't take away the facts, and the facts are he was winning a very competitive fight with a genuine world champion and world class fighter, pushing him back, walking through a bigger man who is known puncher shots, landing his own, buzzing him, and giving it a genuine good go and his all until a world class body punch landed clean and ended the fight which would of landed on any fighter and stopped them, so keep your personal negatives be comments to yourself, and use this forum for what it's meant to be used for, to discuss and share boxing points of views and discussions, not spouteing your personal dislike for a fighter and being derogatory with no genuine fact based comments

1 : (24-1) I'd say that's a very good record, so that's not a FACT horse, it's again just your useless, uneducated opinion

2 : again I'd be more likely to take George groves opinion than yours in that matter, as he said Jamie is WORLD CLASS, and that's a FACT, yours again isn't a fact, just another pointless, derogatory point of view about a fighter you dislike

He's just being nice.

Cox is not even a proven fighter at domestic level.

Cox is a nasty little cheating thug who has an absurdly weak record for all of the hype he gets.

Crap fighter.

Ok horse, your entitled to a opinion regarding boxing and what you think of his record even though it is not a FACT, so I'll put it another way regarding the personal insults.

Watch your derogatory, non evidential, slanderous personal comments & insults, otherwise you may leave your self open to legal proceedings :TU:

How would you even know where to send the subpoena?

So are you supposed to be a lawyer? Because if so I'd think you'd know when to use "their" instead of "there" as in "their family".

I wouldn't worry about this guy Horse. If he's a lawyer he can't be a good one. He couldn't even explain himself properly in that post just now how the hell is he gonna win a court case?

Well, opinion yes and no I suppose.
Watching the contest it struck me that Groves was so comfortable that he never moved through the gears and was able to see what was coming easily enough to simply stand and take them on his guard.
Cox was certainly outmanoeuvred by Groves, which perhaps was inexperience of such big fights showing, but regardless the reason it did happen.
I haven't seen the scorecards but I'll assume you are accurate, however as we all know scorecards are subjective and so often don't paint an accurate picture. The punch stats from the fight are less open to interpretation and they tell the tale of the fight I watched.
My assessment of the contest is that Jamie Cox was a few levels below George Groves, let his eagerness dilute his effectiveness and he either can't box to instructions or didn't have confidence in his corners words and chose to ignore them.
I'm not sure that a move to middle is the correct path forward but having said that I haven't given it much thought and am not privy to the day to day with you guys. I do remember thinking it was a mistake moving up to 168 in the first place but Groves and that dreadful one that should have been a NC because they both went wild aside, he's looked a killer against the guys he's been in with.
A drop away from World level seems appropriate to me, and as I've said on this thread, those saying that British and Euro level are rubbish are foolish.
With regards gracious words from a conqueror, well, that's to be expected.

I'm not the lawyer, and this isn't Oxford or a Cambridge English language lesson either, plus thee is auto spell on my devise which changes and mis spells words for your information and as this isn't official and I'm writing it fast I don't need to check it, also as I'm sure you don't always write correctly yourselves, and feel free to carry on thinking it's ok and funny to throw personal insults and accusations about a fighter around a supposedly boxing forum which is meant to talk about boxing, not put down and personally attack a persons character, this is why so many boxers don't post or use the forum no more, which is a shame, as the interaction and any questions genuine fans would like to ask can't, bottom line, the slanderous, personal comments are uncalled for, everyone is entitled to a opinion regarding the boxing and thinking someone is good or not, but it constantly over steps the mark with the personal hatred spouted towards him, so yes it leave you open to 1: being removed from the forum & or receiving contact from solicitors, just giving you friendly advise. God knows why anyone feels the need to personally put someone else they don't know down anyway, I just assume they must have a tic-tac dcik and are sad they can't fulfil there partners or have a very sad life

Too long to go into, and I don't understand why that is so funny to you, but I'm glad your easily pleased :o the knockdown is not scored as that ended the fight so upto that point the score, it baffles us abit in the rules meeting along with there is a 4th judge in the WBS as the fight can't not be declared a draw, and if 4th judges ruling still declared it a draw they toss a coin to see who goes through to next round, so could explain but would be heee all day, strange I know but that's how it goes, so maybe not so funny hey mate
