Top 10 Body Shot KnockOuts

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

1. Roy Jones Jnr KO4 Virgil Hill (1998)
Despite having never been stopped prior to facing Jones, Hill could do nothing to prevent a lethal right hand slamming into his ribcage in the fourth.

2. Micky Ward KO7 Alfonso Sanchez (1997)
Delivering his bread-and-butter manoeuvre to perfection, Ward touched Sanchez upstairs before folding him in two with a left hook to the liver.

3. Arturo Gatti KO2 Leonard Dorin (2004)
Rather than the gruelling affair many expected, Gatti dispatched Dorin with relative ease by uncorking a textbook left hook.

4. Bernard Hopkins KO9 Oscar De La Hoya (2004)
“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d get stopped by a body shot,” were De La Hoya’s words after Hopkins left him writhing on the canvas from a left hook.

5. Ricky Hatton KO4 Jose Luis Castillo (2007)
The teak tough Mexican turned away and took a knee when Hatton punished him with a left hook.

6. Canelo Alvarez KO9 Liam Smith (2016)
After controlling proceedings for eight rounds, Canelo produced the third and final knockdown of the night with a monstrous left hook that was audible from ringside.

7. Gerry Cooney KO1 Ron Lyle (1980)
The towering Cooney opened Lyle up with a brace of uppercuts before flooring him for good with a left hook.

8. Marco Antonio Barrera KO3 Jesse Benavides (1996)
A sharp combo ending with a particularly brutal left hook was enough to put Benavides away.

https://youtu.be/M-_BlfoQ6P4?t=570

9. Gennady Golovkin KO3 Matthew Macklin (2013)
The Kazakh wrecking ball left Macklin gasping for air with a bone-crunching left hook.

10. Gerald McClellan KO1 James Williamson (1990)
A looping left hook just as Williamson was backing off instantly floored him and had him screaming in pain.

Gassiev's KO of Wlodarczyk the other week was sublime although he set it up with an uppercut

Good shout.. Was definitely a good shot. Loved the way he landed the uppercut and body shot.

What Heavyweight Champion, besides Fitz drilling Corbett, ever scored a famous 1-punch body shot KO? ... It's the most lethal division.

I don't believe that left hook to De La Hoya from Hopkins was a particularly smashing body shot... It was the LAST KO punch Bernard ever threw. I've never seen anyone react to a liver shot by rolling around and pounding the canvas with their fist... You throw all that energy into getting up.

Marcos Maidana dropped like a sack of cement and immediately struggled to get to his feet when Amir Khan dropped him with a perfect liver shot.. He beat the count and Khan couldn't follow up with anything good.

Nobody here knows of Fitzsimmons-Corbett?

Fitzsimmons-Ruhlin?

Langford-Philadelphia Jack O'Brien?

(I realize those fights took place more than ten years ago).

Didn't score a knockdown... Wasn't a legal punch... And you have no video for obvious reasons. :shame:
