Guillermo Jones Returns To The Ring on November 18

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Former world champion Guillermo Jones (40-3-2, 30 KOs) is scheduled to return to the ring for the first time since last July, as he takes on Ytalo Perea (10-2-2) on November 18 at Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo.

Jones was last in action back in July of 2016, when won a majority decision over Garrett Wilson. It will be the third fight since stopping Denis Lebedev in May of 2013. A rematch was canceled after Jones tested positive for a banned substance and then suspended. He would not fight again until November 2015.

Jones is actually ranked by the WBA..

I'm not sure what he has to give in the HW division.. are others going to use him as a stepping stone?

He once called out Briggs.. Briggs said he's do it after a fight with a Klitschko.. but that never happened..

Briggs vs. Jones?

I can only think of the third bout between Azumah Nelson & Jeff Fenech where the total combined age was greater than a potential fight between Briggs-Jones.

Perhaps the third bout between Nigel Benn & Steve Collins can be on the undercard?

In 1897 a 66 year old Jem Mace fought a 49 year old Mike Donovan.

I'll see what I can dig up
Evander Holyfield (48) Vs Brian Nielson (46)
Andreas Sidon (53) Vs Danny Williams (43)
Larry Holmes (51) Vs Mike Weaver (49)

Honourable mention to this in 1911
Edward Starlight Rollins (59) vs Dan Creedon (43)

45-year-old former world cruiserweight champion Guillermo Jones (41-3-2, 30 KOs), now competing as a heavyweight, returned to the ring for the first time since last July, and won an eleven round split decision over Ytalo Perea (10-3-2, 6KOs) at Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo.

The victory gave Jones the vacant WBA Fedelatin heavyweight title. There are WBA regional title fights that only consist of eleven rounds and some are scored on a half-point system.

The scores were 107-102, 107-102 for Jones and 105-104 for Perea.
