Next world boxing super series

Post by Cent0089 »

IMO this series are one of best things that happened to boxing in recent years. Especially in cruiserweight they lot all best fighters fought each other. Super middleweight version is also exciting :box: :box: :box: . So ...what about next? :) But we need be realistic, getting welterweight top names is probbaly unreal :-/. Maybe they make tournament for some lighter weights to make them more interesting :box: :box: :box:

I agree about WW - it would be difficult to manage (HW too, unfortunately. I would like to see LHW and LMW.

Promoters at welter (Arum, PBC/Haymon) would never allow their fighters to just willy nilly fight boxers from other promotions in a tourney setting.

Not enough money in the tournament, (when we're talking about the mega millions many welters can make outside the tournament in a major bout) and I can't see them accepting a concept where they don't know who the opponent might be.

The promoters want control over who their fighters will oppose. You don't have that control in a tourney.

LHW : Beterbiev, Stevenson, Kovalev, Bivol, Gvozdyk, Jack, Barrera, Alvarez - very hot !

LMW : Charlo, Hurd, Lara, Brook, Sulecki, Ali, L. Smith, Ponomarev (or old Margarito, it would be more interesting, and I think many Mexican fans would be attracted). I would like to see Spence, of course, but it would not be realistic, at least this year.

Could not agree more. I love these super series. Just need more of them on free tv like the PBC.
They did a heavyweight series years ago on USA network at some Casino. Guys fought 2-3 times in one day. Memory is foggy these days but I think it was at Bay City Casino Magic or something like that. They had a bunch of prospects and washed up scrubs like tyrell Biggs and bone crusher smith. It
Sounded hokey as all get out, but there were some great fights. Wish some promoter took a chance and did that again

World boxing series is great idea, it should be in every division, finally we would have one undisputed champ there.

Just quickly glanced at the lighter weights. Lightweight could be possible, you have Linares, Campbell, Crolla, Easter Jr. , Beltran , Tatili in the top 15. Winner potentially setting up a fight with Gervonta Davis

147 isn't happening, let's be honest.

175 would be awesome, if enough signed up.

154 nice, but I think there's a gap between the top 2 (Charlo and Lara) and the rest. Plus, lots of Americans on the list... Would they be allowed in?

126 would be brilliant (Santa Cruz, Valdez, Frampton, Russel, Mares, Quigg, Selby, Warrington, Joseph Diaz, Donaire etc...)

140 I think is doable, with enough probably willing, and interesting too, but lacks big names (would it make money?).

In a perfect world, I'd hope for 175 and 126, but I'd be more than happy with 175 plus any one of 130, 135, 140.
