This question has been asked at least ten thousand times on doghouse boxing.
It was old ten years ago and is old now

That was Cory Sanders not Corrie Sanders... Makes a big difference...

Mike's knees were shot (you can see it) and he certainly wasn't in boxing shape... But he still had to hold this 5th rate Heavyweight up... Cory wouldn't throw... He didn't want to piss Mike off.

It makes me sick to see a scared Heavyweight... The fans are there to see you throw and he wouldn't :maybe: :shame:

And Mike could have danced around if he wanted to when he was young and had good legs... But that isn't the way he fought ... He was short and stubby not long and rangy... Therefore Mike was an attacker... He controlled the center of the ring rather than do an imitation of a merry-go-round.. What's Mike going to do on the move -- stab with his rangy jab?

Couldn't Mike Tyson have fought like Vasyl Lomachenko, given his skill set and attributes?

There's no way Mike Tyson ever had the physical attributes to box and move at the top level. He had strength in his legs but they were built to generate power rather than movement.

WTF??? ... Are you kidding??? Lomachenko is probably the best boxer in Fistic History.

Mike had holes in his game you could run an express train through.

Mike could generate all the lateral and backwards movement Ali ever did -- if he wanted... He had great legs in his youth.

His fighting style didn't require him to be a ballerina... He was a bull not a matador... Running would be foolish for him.

Given that he was a Heavyweight and shorter than most all of his opponents even if he COULD box like Ali and bounce around the ring, I don't think it would've ever been to his advantage to do so.

Mike Tyson does have some of the attributes which Vasyl Lomachenko possesses to potentially pull it off! The head, upper body and foot movement is there. One of the main differences between them is that Mike Tyson is ULTRA - aggressive whilst Vasyl Lomachenko is more cognitive when he attacks. He is more patient. He throws more feints. He gives different looks. Whilst Mike Tyson mostly charges in (albeit, with fast head and foot movement) when attacking, but without using the variation that Lomachenko uses.

Wasn't there some claim by Dundee that Ali did his road work in brogue shoes as opposed to trainers, and that is why his calves were so big?
He used to run in army boots didn’t he?

Ali ran in Brougues... as Liston did... Thousands of boxers do... My first trainer told me to run in Brougues so I did all my distance work with them... I used running shoes for wind sprints and other speed work... Many boxers wear running shoes or tennis shoes during sparring and bouts... You want shoes that grip and allow you to move super fast... I had my boxers wear running shoes for roadwork cuz they're easier on the knees, hips, and ankles and your legs will last longer.

Huge calves don't mean a thing... I've seen hundreds of boxers with massive calves and it doesn't make you faster or springier... Pacquiao's calves are way bigger than Mayweather's and much bigger for his size than Ali's... Pac is fast but that's not cuz his calves are so big... Usain Bolt is the fastest human in history and has fairly slender calves...

I honestly can't decide whether you are the biggest liar in the history of the internet or the biggest idiot. It is almost impossible to have been involved with the fight game and either not notice what happens before your eyes, or to be so stupid as to misunderstand it.

So which is it, liar, idiot, or both?
my vote is for both, but idiot seems to appear more often:

Eubank's 'savage workrate' managed far fewer than 40 punches per round the first time he ever fought a world class opponent

but then thats part of Kalan's problem, inability to contextualise, he looks at someone like Eubank, or Joshua or Klit Bros, brutalising awful opponents, and he doesn't have the gumption to realise that things get very different when you actually fight a live body with a pulse.

Did Sugar Ray Robinson fight live bodies with pulses??? ... He finished his career with many losses... One was to massive underdog Raph Jones who never won a title ... and lost 5 fights in a row before knocking the crap out of Robinson.

Does that mean Robinson wasn't an ATG fighter or didn't have a brain in his head???

Eubank isn't finished with his career, last I heard... Let's see where he goes from here... Seems like certain ATG's could lose a ton of fights... But a guy loses a single fight today and they were never any good to begin with.

Sprinters run with their legs.... Their arms move vigorously to counter balance... No matter how powerful your upper body you need powerful legs to sprint... You don't need huge calves for spring or power... Many world class high jumpers, long jumpers, and basketball players with a great deal of speed, spring and power in their legs lack Pacquiao like calves.

*Finished*his career. You even mention that the losses were late in his career and you're too stupid or blinkered to make the connection

Robinson looked bad when he got old

From what we can see even then it's clear he must have been spectacular when he was young, sadly the footage doesn't exist

THe footage does exist, however, that shows Eubank to be a boxer of inferior skill and not at all 'smart' never mind one of the smartest in history as you were foolish enough to state

Still you fail to equivocate the stupidity of that statement

Stupid as you are it's no surprise you keep trying despite the futility of your efforts

My dad and my uncle both drilled into my head that Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest and smartest boxer ever from the time I was in single digits through the 70's. I've fought that for years with current fighters of the time etc. and it's impossible to name another. Most of what we know about him from films are already past his prime. Like another poster mentioned, Robinson's prime was as a welterweight. His loss to Joey Maxim for the LHW belt was an incredible attempt, as Robinson was ahead in the fight and succumbed to the scorching heat.

Read this you inbred moronic piece of pond life slime, and try to learn, even though it is NOT within you subhuman capabilities.

Sprinters have tremendous upper body, and cardiovascular strength, ( look at the sizes of Usain Bolt, Carl lewis, and Ben Johnson's upper bodies in proportion to their legs ) and THAT is what makes them brilliant sprinters.

In comparison to skiers, and fighters their legs are relatively weak.

I have no more interest in the opinions of verminous know nothing creatures like you, than I do about your Walter Mitty version of you telling the US Marines that your worthless cowardly opinion of the Vietnam War was more important than your government's. Suffice to say you are a know nothing kunt of the first order who should be exterminated.
