Haye & his weigh in weight

Post by SAPFO »

Anyone hazard a guess what helll come in at? I think anywhere under 215lbs and he’ll be in good shape. It’s just if the rest is there. Anything over 220 especially and he’s done IMO.

What you reckon?

No more than 218 I think.. Bellew came in at 213 the first fight I believe. I expect him to come in around that again..

At his heavyweight peak I think he was usually coming in between 214 and 218 if memory serves me correct. His legs are much bigger than they used to be tho so who knows.

I think he will be heavier than people think... a bit lighter than the Bellew 1 fight but I think he will be around 220 mark. He looked trim in the build up to when the rematch was first announced, but he doesn't look any leaner in the face since. Obviously still time to lose a few pounds but I think he has been at fighting weight for a while now. Looking at his reign as champion - he comes in heavier for smaller opponents and light for bigger guys usually - but that was obviously at his pomp and he might think he needs to be lighter to be at optimum speed. He's a bit sluggish north of 220.

Wonder which body part will breakdown as fight time approaches? He can't take the training required at this level. My guess he'll tear a calf muscle about 10 days out, will get physiotherapy and injections , start limping as soon as he strains it in the first round.

I think both should come in lighter. Haye looked sluggish at 224 and Bellew seemed to slow down from a combination of punching himself out and maybe being slightly heavy himself. Bellew will expect Haye to come in lighter and faster so I think he might try and do the same himself to keep the speed disparity as close to last time as possible i.e. if Haye was 20% quicker at 224 vs 213, he'd likely be 50% quicker at 217 vs 213, so Bellew might try and get down to 207 or similar to keep the speed differential at 20%. No doubt that maths is complete bollocks but I'm sure people will get my point.

Haye needs to be as light and agile as possible, but i suspect he will come in around the same, based on recent photos.

If he somehow comes in at 210 and injury free, Bellew will be writing another will.
