As BS.com reported last week, Crawford will headline an ESPN televised date in October.
Crawford's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, advised Michael Woods of the Everlast “Talkbox” podcast, that he plans to "get the best possible opponent at the time” to fight Crawford in the fall.
One of those opponents is the recently returned Amir Khan (32-4, 20 KOs), who back in April snapped a near two-year layoff to blow away Phil Lo Greco in one round.
Khan has been calling for a bigger fight in the fall - and specifically for a world title fight.
Arum likes the idea of a Crawford vs. Khan showdown.
According to Arum, Khan is a "free agent" when fighting in the United States. Earlier this year, he signed a multi-fight deal with promoter Eddie Hearn, who is based in the UK.
“Amir Khan could be a possibility, I have to talk to him. He’s a free agent if he fights in the US. And I’m sure there are others,” Arum said.
Some of the other possibilities on Arum's radar include WBA "regular" welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (should he beat Manny Pacquiao next month), Jose Benavidez and Carlos Adames. Like Crawford, both Benavidez and Adames are promoted by Top Rank and would likely be far easier fights to make.
No chance! Khan would make more scratch fighting Brook and have a better chance of winning. If he faces Crawford he's getting ironed out in brutal fashion.
One the one hand, can be a good pay-day for Crawford and easy money, but, on the other hand, he probably shouldn't spend his time in prime on not very meaningful fights. Anyway no one will suggest him a unification in the nearest future, so...

That's my thought too.
Brook fight in the UK is much more lucrative for Khan and it might be considered about a pick em matchup.
Crawford would be a significant choice to flatten Khan, so it doesn't make much sense.
Arum and Crawford might love the matchup. Khan wouldn't.
Khan isn't going to get himself knocked out by Crawford before he fights Brook for the biggest payday he can realistically hope for at the moment.
Crawford's next opponent will largely depend on who wins between Pacquiao and Mathysse, If Mathysse wins, then Craword-Mathysse is the next fight. However if Manny wins, I'm not so sure he would want to get in the ring with Crawford. At that point it would probably make sense to fight a mandatory like Kavaliauskas or try to set up a fight with Jose Benavidez. Alternatively it might make sense to offer a deal to Broner. Broner would probably make more money in that fight, in comparison to the Vargas rematch so he would definitely consider it, plus it would probably be on PPV.

I’d like to see this to be proven right or wrong - that khan doesn’t have much in the way of boxing skill and is more a speed demon than anything else. Feel like Crawford could make him look as bad as he made horn look.

Khan would be fairly stupid to take this fight when like others have said the Kell Brook fight would be more lucrative, and more winnable for him.
Don't get me wrong though. If he winds up taking place I'm down to see it, just doesn't seem like the smartest career move for Khan.
Well Im not down to see it. An easy win for Crawford, if Im so obsessed with the fellow then why dont I just take a look at Crawford beating up a heavybag instead? Why would Amir need to be in the picture. Its a poo fight in a poo sport.
They could definitely find a better opponent for Crawford, but all of the names will be wanting no part of him for a while.
