Kownacki vs Chas. Martin heavyweight clash likely for 8/25
According to BS.com this match is very close to being signed for the undercard of the Garcia vs Porter fight. If so, it's a damned good test for both men. Kownacki has looked decent in his last two bouts since he stepped up in competition & could further his quest for a title fight by beating the former IBF heavyweight titlist.
As for Martin, Kownacki will be the first live body that he's faced since losing to Anthony Joshua two years ago. In fact, it could be said that Kownacki will be the best fighter that Martin has faced other than Joshua period despite his 25-1-1 record.

Aside from AJ, Kownacki is by far Prince Charles's toughest fight.
I'm interested to see if Martin can see his way through the barrage of punches that Adam throws, and try and catch him out. Both these guys seem easy to hit, I would be surprised if it went 10.
I'm just glad to see another HW fight where there are two live guys involved.

perhaps one of my biggest divulgences from popular opinion is that i actually dont think martin is sh!t. if he shows even a bit of heart i like his chances, he must know this is a must win for him

Battle of the Flabby Heavyweights. Charles was Heavy the last time I seen him, and I don't really expect he'll be rippling with 6 pack abs this time either.
I figure Kownacki can take him, but this is winnable for either guy if they're properly prepared. Especially considering that if 1 of them puts the work in, the chances are high that the opponent wouldn't have.

Martin should be a big punching bag and an easy win for Kownaki methinks. I've got my eye on Kow. I like what I've seen, including how he doesn't look the part.

I suppose either fighter could win. I've mentioned before that, given Glazkov's injury early in the Martin fight (and I suspect it may have even been pre-existing), Martin's best untainted win was Alexander Flores (and that's pretty bad). I recognize from watching him that he's tall, long, and powerful; but there's pretty minimal evidence that he can win against good opponents. Given that Kownacki and Martin are both regarded in the 8-13 ballpark by most boxing fans, this seems to be a good match-up and an important measuring stick for both fighters. The winner would not become a super contender, but he would become a proper contender.
Btw, I think Kownacki fights like the heavyweight version of Sam Soliman.

Evenly matched bout could go either way.
But on a personal note. I just don't care about this bout. Neither are upper level.

I love this match and the fact it's not top level is of no consequence to me. Both fighters are unproven. Kownacki obtained his rating / kudos by beating former contender Artur Szpilka, but Szpilka never was a formidable opponent, what he had left after the bomb dropped is debatable, but it's a fair bet he won't have improved. Kownacki looks soft and flabby and doesn't impress me much. He is a volume puncher and appears to have a very good engine.
Martin has suffered as a result of stumbling upon a portion of a world title and immediately losing in a meek and hapless manner to Anthony Joshua. The fact this followed his "I walk this Earth like a god" statement, his abject defeat, and his having been paid a king's ransom for his trouble, have served to heap scorn on this man.
Kownacki represents for Martin, a very beatable opportunity for redemption. He will need to overcome a man who probably has the advantage over him in stamina, punch volume, and mental toughness. These are areas in which Martin is at a fairly certain disadvantage, whereas areas where he might enjoy the advantage are by no means as obvious: He may have an advantage in speed, mobility, punching power and technique but Martin's advantages (or not) are far more speculative whereas Kownacki's are pretty conclusive.
Logic suggests Kownacki will be too much for Martin but I'm going to take a leap of faith and go with the unknown quantity, Charles Martin. Now where's my medication ?

painful night for martin
once Kownacki catches up with him he'll be stopped inside 5
Kownacki has been moved very slowly but is a real danger to the second tier.

By the way, don't judge Kownacki by how he looks, its misleading. The guy has an engine, a chin, a high and fairly accurate punch output, the sheer volume of offence from Kownacki will break Martin down. Should be good.
Re: Kownacki vs Chas. Martin heavyweight clash likely for 8/25
Thanks Kiwi. I was a fan of the Finnegan brothers so I know that it's often the most unimposing physique which has the most stamina and sometimes the best chin.
Up until Joshua's emphasis on no risk no glory safety first boxing, as pioneered against Takam, and fully deployed against Parker, he was knocking out everyone. Martin was caught cold. It could have happened to Wilder exactly the same (although it will be different when they meet because AJ will not engage in a shoot-out, that's what the safety first style is in aid of) and a part of me feels Martin was ripped apart by the press and the fans a little unfairly, and wants to see him show us he's not just a bum who won the lottery.
Guess I'm just a sentimental old fool.

I don't have either in my top 15.Lackeos wrote: ↑22 Jun 2018, 23:02 I suppose either fighter could win. Kownacki seems to be in quite many top 15 lists but Martin is usually left out.
Kownacki is way overrated at the moment.
This fight might help him to earn some more credibility.
They are kind of evenly matched so it should be good fight
