(not as exciting as going to the shows I know - did I tell you I know one of the cleaners at the Dome as well? :D )
How's Jason doing these days, hope he's okay?

He's doing OK, chimp. He gets out and about, he's got a social life and loads of people like and admire him - his dad is a diamond as well and very supportive of him.

'Chi(m)p' ... clever stuff well done.

Why do you ask this question, have I said anything remotely derogatory about any Sheffield fighter?

(Rhetorical question as I KNOW I haven't)

I assumed your put down regarding venues fought at was a dig - if not my apologies.

I used to read BN religiously at the time when Abrams took over as editor and remember somebody writing in to ask if this spar had actually happened. Abram's response was an abrupt "See issue bla year bla"; I don't know him as a man but as an editor he definitely lacked any of his predecessor's easy charm.

No apology needed Sir, it wasn't intended as a slight when I mentioned the 'less glamorous' venues I assure you.

He had a hard act to follow in Harry Mullan who oversaw BN's highest selling figures of all time (so far); I had a couple of long responses to letters from Mullan that showed he really had time for the ordinary fan; sorry but Abrams never came across as contributor-friendly in the same way. Maybe he suffers in comparison to Mullan but he could come across as curt & having no time for fans he disagreed with. He didn't invite discussion in the way the much missed Mullan did, and that's part of an editor's job so I think it's a valid criticism.

Met them both myself and indeed Mr Mullan was warm and approachable to the fan/fighter and Claude in comparison could seem aloof and I remember one BN report when Claude critisised my apparent lack of shape, I promptly phoned BN to complain, got put straight thru to Claude who took some serious verbal licks off me self with diginity! Next fight Claude did report and was favourable in reguard to my physical condition. Good boxing man in my eyes :TU:

I remember the article. I think Claude said he got hit once with a big shot to the stomach early on and it really hurt. And generally he was impressed by how hard Naz was to hit.

He looks very basic and self taught but to be fair Hamed made world class fighters look clueless and way out of their depth.

Its common knowledge that in Brendans day there was body sparring only as a matter of course and the pros would do 'full' sparring for a few weeks towards the end of camp.

Yeah, so they do full spar there . Plenty of videos of brook sparring I’m sure, also remember Eubank knocking Graham over with an uppercut in sparring there

Didn’t there used to be a sign on the wall?

I think it has changed of late, head sparring happens, for pros at least.

This tread made me google Claude Abrams, looks like he’s now a strength and conditioning coach.

Funnily enough his successor Tris Dixon is similarly running a cross fit franchise (I think).

Both look in brilliant condition.
