I though Garcia won
I though Garcia won
No disrespect to Porter....I like him. But I thought Garcia won that.
I loved seeing Porter beat the snot out of Broner. I just dont think he mugged Garcia
enough to win that fight. Garcia has real good defense. I never really liked Garcia but
I gotta give him his due..........I thought that he won the fight.

Re: I though Garcia won
No way Garcia won. Porter clearly landed more & his shots pushed Garcia back. Garcias punches were clean but had little effect on Porter.
Re: I though Garcia won
There's a poll, and the majority of fans agree Porter deserved it. I'm with the majority on this one. I thought it was about even as far as clean shots landed, Porter outhustled him, and edged some of the closer rounds due to his pace.jewboypgh wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 15:15 No disrespect to Porter....I like him. Basically he wanted it more, and he got it.
Re: I though Garcia won
It was nip and tuck every step of the way. I never saw either of them really hurt the other in a significant way, but Porter did more by just enough to get the W in a close one.
Re: I though Garcia won
Re: I though Garcia won
danny garcia showed me his defense is real good.
i didnt think porter mugged him enough to earn the w. maybe im too old and my eyes aint good no more.
i dont know.

Re: I though Garcia won
Porter landed more and threw more. That's what wins fights. Defense can win fights if you completely shut the guy down, but even then you gotta do more on the offensive end too because that's what wins a fight.
There were a lot of swing rounds in there so I definitely can see how some would've leaned toward Danny. It was a close fight no doubt so I don't think anybody is wrong necessarily for having it the opposite way from which it was scored, but it damn sure wasn't a robbery or anything. Just a close one.
As close as it was though I was pretty surprised when it was a Unanimous Decision. I was thinking it'd be a Split or Majority Decision whichever way it went, but the official scores were all reasonable.
Re: I though Garcia won
I’m with you bud. I don’t understand what a boxer gets credit for anymore. Most times, the clear effective puncher gets the win over a caveman but Porter already had an agreement in place with Spence so Boxing does what boxing does again.jewboypgh wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 15:15 No disrespect to Porter....I like him. Re: I though Garcia won
I was most impressed with Porters chin. He withstood some serious vicious shots that would have had other opponents stumbling.
I scored the fight a "Draw". Garcia did not get the win, but he also didn't deserve the loss. He'll probably come back even stronger, only because it seems that both he and his father hate losing.

Re: I though Garcia won
Close fight, but Porter was the one who wanted to win that fight more.

Re: I though Garcia won
Wtf were you watching? Porter boxed Garcias ears off in the mid rounds. Handspeed, jab, combos, chin, accuracy, defense & footwork. All areas in which Porter was clearly superior to the 1 dimensional predictable flatfooted hooker Danny Garcia.caldo2025 wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 20:33I’m with you bud. Ur high. Try watching the fight objectively and you will see how wrong you are. You shouldn’t get points for headbutts and wrestling remember. Any caveman can run head first into a guy for twelve rounds while windmilling punches that never cleanly landed one significant punch. It was a gift decision. Call it what was and save SOME credibility.RKY wrote: ↑11 Sep 2018, 06:31Wtf were you watching? Porter boxed Garcias ears off in the mid rounds. Re: I though Garcia won
The poll says you're wrong. I was picking Garcia to win the fight 115-113. I had it 115-113 Porter. I'm not a fan of either fighter so I was watching it purely objectively because I really had no dog in the fight. If anything I would've preferred Garcia win so that my prediction would've been right.caldo2025 wrote: ↑11 Sep 2018, 20:25Ur high. Re: I though Garcia won
Aw cmon, his headbutting wasn't nearly as bad as Ward or Bradley who both came forward quickly in straight lines like Porter does. Landing a couple of accidental butts isn't in the scoring criteria. Clean punching is though and Porter scored more shots, with his punches having more effect.caldo2025 wrote: ↑11 Sep 2018, 20:25Ur high. Re: I though Garcia won
I’ll give porter this, he has 1 hell of a chin. Back in the Thurman fight he took some huge shots and kept coming
Re: I though Garcia won
I agreed with the decision. Very good fight though and Garcia certainly played his part. I thought Porter was pulling away in the second half.
Re: I though Garcia won
Like I trust any poll on this site full of dopes that think GGG is an overrated MW. I don’t look to this site for intelligence, that’s for sure. There are more dopes with usernames than people who’s opinions mean anything to me. I’ve always appreciated your opinion though so I’m not putting you in that wagon.gilgamesh wrote: ↑11 Sep 2018, 20:26The poll says you're wrong. I was picking Garcia to win the fight 115-113. Re: I though Garcia won
Lol. If clean punching is ur criteria then you really need to get your eyes checked. Garcia snapped Porters head back consistently. I didn’t see Porter score anything resembling clean effective punches. The fix was in. Just admit it peopleRKY wrote: ↑11 Sep 2018, 20:29Aw cmon, his headbutting wasn't nearly as bad as Ward or Bradley who both came forward quickly in straight lines like Porter does. Re: I though Garcia won
Giving Garcia the benefit of the doubt every round, I can see it happening. I think, at most, Garcia deserved a draw. To me, it seems very, very generous giving Garcia the fight. I wouldn't call it a robbery if you did, though.
Re: I though Garcia won
Porter landed several significant shots. Neither fighter appeared particularly hurt at any point, but both landed their share of good shots.caldo2025 wrote: ↑12 Sep 2018, 19:04Lol. Re: I though Garcia won
Yeah that's the way I see it. If you give it to Garcia you're giving him the benefit of the doubt on basically EVERY close round. It was a close fight either way, but the judges got it right, and it's reflected in the Public opinion as well.
Re: I though Garcia won
I thought it was a fair decision. I was pulling for Garcia to win because I prefer his clean boxing much more than Porters swarming and mugging tactics. I was actually shocked at how well Porter took Garcia's counter left hand, Porter was hit by it throughout the entire fight and never seemed to flinch. As soon I seen Porter was going to be able to take the counter left hook, I knew my prediction that Garcia would win by stoppage simply wasn't going to come to fruition and Porter would most likely win the fight. Even in my prediction I believed Porter would be up on the cards at the time of stoppage, but I also wasn't expecting Garcia to land his counter left hand so early in the fight and Porter eating it like a champ.
Garcia's power although still decent at WW, he's simply not a one hitter quiter at WW.
