Correct ,,, in this case the apple certainly has'nt fell far from the tree
Chris Eubank Jr
Re: Eubank jnr
You've got more chance of winning the lottery four weeks running, shagging every supermodel on the planet, winning the noble peace prize, bringing Elvis back to life and then running the 100 metres in a second and a half than you have of seeing Chris Eubank taking himself away from the limelight.
Said really. It's him who is knackering his son's career. Not sure Jr. even realises.
Re: Eubank jnr
Not pinning it all on his dad because Jnr is his own man but it certainly doesn't help his development. I think there's a fighter in there somewhere.
Re: Eubank jnr
seen all sorts of these guys in the gym at lower levels. its a personality quirk. they just cannot do things the right way because there too vain/superficial to do it. and every few seconds there looking around to see if anyone watched them as they threw 4 straight hooks on the heavybag etc. and then it means they havent put in the proper work for the fight, and this stuff ends up getting found out in the fight itself
i imagine jr to be like one of these guys, though obviously more talented
im not sure if he improved at all from the bjs fight. i had thought he wouldve but i really didnt see any sign of it. i mean, jr got a lot more experience in, and he had a brief amateur career so youd think all the extra time and fights wouldve really helped, but its like he was the same fighter he was years ago
thing is, he has A LOT of natural gifts. yet hes just still so amateurish, and that will keep him out of the top level i feel

Re: Eubank jnr
On England squads in the amateur system, if you are told to spend a round throwing a certain combination or selection of shots on the bag, then you deviate from that instruction, you get marked down for not being able to follow instructions.
Chris Eubank Jr strikes me as someone who simply cant follow instructions. Regardless of his talent its a massive fault in his make up, equally comparable to a physical flaw.

Re: Eubank jnr
He's 29 next week. I think his teenager vernacular deceives folk about his age.
Re: Eubank jnr
A lot of negativity about young Eubank again. He actually has done alright so far and probably made a good wedge. He‘s still young and all with a future in the game.

He's 29. By the time he goes back to the drawing board, gets a new trainer, learns the basics (the things he needs to do to succeed) he'll be 31/32, when most MWs should be considering retirement. I mean, he's a year older than Canelo who's fought in nothing but title fights since 2011
Re: Eubank jnr
More negativity, right. He‘s not exactly not been a success so far. People seem to think he could do better than he’s doing, maybe that’s true who knows. Personally, I think he‘s better suited to MW. As far as getting a new trainer, that’s just conjecture.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 10:40He's 29. Eh? How is stating facts negativity? He hasn't got the boxing IQ to compete at world level, as Billy-Joe and Groves exposed. He'd need to learn the basics from scratch, which he's too old for. He's cocky enough the think he's some God gifted elite fighter who doesn't need a trainer. If he hasn't got the balls to tell his dad to fvck off, then he doesn't deserve to be an elite fighterNoxy wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 10:48More negativity, right. Agreed, he hasn’t got the skills to beat the likes of BJS. I‘m saying he won’t necessarily do better by changing his set-up. He was with Booth and we all know what didn’t happen there, although I‘d love to know what did happen.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 10:52Eh? How is stating facts negativity? The fact is CEJ is now young, rich and famous through boxing. Very few fighters achieve that. It’s too simplistic to say all he has to do is ditch his dad to take his career even higher. He may do that and, if he does, it may work for him but it’s a big call.
When I think of CEJ, I just think he should go back to MW. As for the rest of it, I’m not so sure.

lol he's young, rich and famous because of his old, rich and famous dad. Average Joe with the same boxing skills wouldn't have had half the opportunitiesNoxy wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 11:21Agreed, he hasn’t got the skills to beat the likes of BJS. Re: Eubank jnr
well tbf hes defo quite talented. he breezed through brit level and handily beat euro-ish level operators like chudinov and yildirim. he just seems to lack the refinement to get it done at top level and showed a surprisinging lack of improvement to me
Re: Chris Eubank Jr
Any word on an opponent for the WBSS card? Or just a knockover job? Both he and Cox should go down to MW. They could even fight at 160 with the winner (probably Eubank) then moving towards world level.
Re: Eubank jnr
I think that's a fair comparison. Especially if you want to go around saying you are the greatest fighter out there (in fairness it was his dad that said it of Jr but he didnt challenge it) then you have to be doing what the other greats of your generation are doing, not losing to the two best fighters you've faced.danconnollyeire wrote: ↑10 Sep 2018, 10:40He's 29. Adam Booth would have been perfect for him if he had been able to stick it out—Booth, not Jr.—and at least would have made him play to his strengths. Any lateral movement whatsoever completely takes him out of the fight and his comfort zone. It is a shame as he has some decent tools (mostly in his team).

The things that have got him where he is are his downfall - premature fame, cash and opportunities.
To be fair it must be hard to learn any kind of discipline or humility growing up as Chris Eubank Jr.

Dunno, until the WBSS I don't believe he had any massive paydays, I think CES was a disciplinarian and growing up through a public parental divorce and father going bankrupt isn't the golden youth that some people seem to imagine he had.sharpei_louis wrote: ↑11 Sep 2018, 18:51 The things that have got him where he is are his downfall - premature fame, cash and opportunities.

Re: Chris Eubank Jr
Two schools of thought here ,
1---- The obvious one , Chris has been held back , could of been better with another trainer , his dad has ben bad for him ect ect ect .
2---- Senior has took a very limited junior , got him superfit , bullshitted and pranced his way into the publics eye , then through clever matchmaking , lots of rubbish talk and keeping the focus on both , created a average boxer into a household name , something Junior would'nt of been able to do without daddy ,
So has Senior been good for a son with limited talent and got him well paid and probably a millionaire ,
OR
Has he held him back and ruined the carreeer of a kid who could of gone further and earnt more without him
Suppose it all depends on what side of the bed you get out of

Re: Chris Eubank Jr
He's apparently expected to sign with fast car after Groves v Smith. His sister is engaged to Hearns right hand man Frank Smith
Maybe a Tony Jetta rematch

Re: Chris Eubank Jr
He'd be a great signing as he sells, but what an absolute ball ache for Frank Smith. The inevitable fallout with Senior/Father In Law will not be good for his relationship!!
