the spelling of east euro names seems to get changed a bit too, like sergey/serhei/sergei has changed for a lot of boxers

and i remember richard abril simply got changed to richar
The eastern euro names change because of different transliteration. For example if a fighter is named Sergey and lets say he can represent both Russia Ukraine and Belarus then:
-transliteration from Russian would be "Sergey" or "Sergei"
-from Ukrainian it's "Serhiy"
-from Belarussian it's "Siarhei"

Usyk is good example. If you use Russian version he is Alexander or Aleksandr but if you use Ukrainian version he is Oleksandr.

Also, different countries - different transliterations: For Example Sergey Kovalev in Poland is Siergiej Kowaliow (btw english transliteration of his name is very wrong, it should be Sergey Kovalyov, in Russian it's Серге́й Ковалёв, probably Americans who transliterated it thought that ё sounds just like e but it sounds like yo.)

Also there are versions of the same name from the same language used in english that are either more accurate or easier for english speaker like Yevgeniy/Evgeny.

Everyone knows Wladimir Klitschko but if you used his Ukrainian version of name he would be Volodymyr Klychko. In Poland he is Władimir Kliczko or Wołodymyr Kłyczko depending on which (russian or ukrainian) version you choose.
The translating of the names to different languages is fricking mental.

Vyacheslav Glazkov for same unknown reason is spelled Vjatsheslav Hlazkov in Finland. Took me little time to understand who they were talking about

We have to remember that Russian and Ukrainian are two different languages that are not even mutually intelligible. Russian almost never use the "h" (like spanish j) voice - for example "Hitler" sounds like "Gitler" in Russian. In Ukrainian it's reverse - they almost don't use "g" voice but they use a lot of "h" instead.

So in Ukrainian Glazkov or Gvozdyk are actually Hlazkov and Hvozdyk in Ukrainian but Glazkov and Gvozdyk in Russian.

Vjatscheslav Hlazkov is just to make it sound in Finnish as it sounds in original.

It works in both ways though - if you transliterate Anthony Joshua to Russian and it's alphabet then he's literally Entoni Dzhoshua and Steve Cunningham is Stiv Kanningem (Энтони Джошуа and Стив Каннингем respectively)

First face to face happened just now. Masternak looked as tall as Dorticos (it looked like Dorticos is 1cm taller at best). I always knew that the 183cm on Masternak's boxrec is wrong, he is 187-188cm.

I am 183cm and when i saw Glowacki he was about as tall as me. Maybe 1cm taller, no more than 2cm. When i saw Masternak he was clearly taller than me. I felt like he is 4 maybe even 5cm taller

Of course, Dorticos got longer reach which is far more important.

I put a little bet on Masternak. Odds were pretty good. And so is master :OhYes:

Looking forward to this one :box:

Dorticos when asked about Masternak replied: "Masternak? Master of nothing!". We'll see soon :box:

To be fair i am expecting Dorticos to take this one. Master is still definitely a live underdog.

I am expecting a tough fight :box:

Yeah Dorticos is a favourite. He is Cuban but his style is very "uncuban". He throws almost only straight punches, he is open, his footwork is far from great. He is not such a terminator like some people try to make him to be. Some people forget that until the late KO his bout vs Kalenga was very even, arguably even Kalenga won more rounds. Masternak now is better than Kalenga was then and his chin seems to be more durable too, i have no doubt in Masternak's heart as well.

Masternak would be Dorticos' best scalp.

i think masternak might be a bit physicall basic. no real good speed or power or reach etc. hes a steady well schooled boxer but i get the feeling hell be overwhelmed eventually. not necessarly knocked out but buillied at least, maybe after winning some rounds

Well it was Masternak's problem in past that he was good at everything, in every aspect but great at nothing. It seems though that he has his prime now and he's better than ever. He sparred with Usyk and Oleksandr said a lot of good about him. Also there are rumours that Masternak looked good, better than others on those sparings. Anyway, tomorrow we will know everything, i can't wait!

Masternak wears shoes in the face off and looks taller than Dorticos. He's probably ~188cm.

You are right, that's what i said before - i'm 183cm and when i was next to Masternak i felt like he's 4-5cm taller.

Yes good card, evenly matches, not like most of cards where you know the results before it starts.

big second round for dort as he has masternak rocked and retreating near the end. masternak is moving and picking spots like gassiev was vs dort, but hes getting hit a lot already , whereas gassievs guard was very tight
