True. Thank goodness this ref chose not to. It was an amazing rise from the ashes by Fury.tiny_acres wrote: ↑08 Dec 2018, 15:20The refs could not of done a better job.
But if any ref would of stopped the fight the way Fury went down and looked going down I doubt too many would of complained

dont matter if it was a little slow(and it weren't over top) , in a fight like that the fighter deserve the chance to fight on , i thought the ref was fantastic because i cant remember him in the fight
Re: The Count ... Did Wilder put Fury down for 10 ?
Don't mind. I think he could've put him down? Was great stuff! Doesn't bother me lol....

Can't believe this is still being discussed, especially after the extra 20 seconds Wilder got to recover vs Ortiz.
Fury got up before Reiss hit 10. Nothing else to see here. No controversy in this fight. No controversy in the Ortiz fight either.

If the referee didn't reach 10, then Fury obviously wasn't down for the 10 count.
A 10 count isn't necessarily the same as 10 seconds. But it's often mistakenly construed that way.
But it's not. Ask Mike Tyson and Buster Douglas.
If it was possible, you could also ask Dempsey and Tunney.
All you have to do is haul your ass up off the canvas before the referee tolls 10. How much time has actually elapsed is irrelevant.
Re: The Count ... Did Wilder put Fury down for 10 ?
Look, I’m already tired of this BS. Fury can only use the count that he’s given to make it to his feet. If Ries was a little late than that’s on him but this maniac was getting up before ten no matter who gave the count. Don’t diminish the incredible fortitude this guy had to make the count. It’s one of the best displays of heart I’ve ever seen in the sport so let’s give Fury his due. That was absolutely heroic.

What a fûckîng bûllshît thread topic, there’s no controversy here. The ref did a great job.
Re: The Count ... Did Wilder put Fury down for 10 ?
No I thought he did very well. He told them beforehand how he'd handle any knockdown and was as good as his word. I think the draw was fair. Somehow calling robbery against a fighter dropped twice and very nearly wiped out doesn't sit well with me. Sets it up very nicely for the rematch. Fair play to Fury he wasn't crying about it.
Anyone who says Reis isn't a good referee just doesn't know Jack.
Re: The Count ... Did Wilder put Fury down for 10 ?
If you want to get out a stopwatch, yes he was down for more than 10 seconds. Rules clearly say the fighter has to beat the referees count of 10, which Fury did so no controversy in my eyes. Fury is very fortunate he even got a count, because he looked to be clean out.

Wilder on Rogan’s podcast is worth a listen.

Classic Sesame Street Count!
BTW - Fury could've gotten up earlier than he did, IMHO.

That's a good point.tiny_acres wrote: ↑10 Dec 2018, 21:53I'm glad the ref let it continue.
But no one could of complained if he stopped it.
Great job by this ref
Reiss could have looked at a seemingly dead Fury and stopped the bout without a count to get him quick medical attention.
I don't know how much the lateness of the bout played into the ref's decision. If it was 3 or 4 rounds earlier, would he have stopped it without a count.
But in the 12th did Reiss make a conscious decision to give Fury an opportunity to show that he could finish?
