Hearn planning DAZN show on Jan.18 with Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller headlining

Post by oogiebe »

Trying to push Miller's name into a title shot with AJ, Hearn will matchup Miller to headline a card on January 18 with perhaps a fight for Demetrius ‘Boo Boo’ Andrade. No word on potential opponents. I can't see anyone too good as Miller's history of old soft touches will probably continue. Thoughts?

could see it being zhang zhilei, the guy who was supposed to fight ustinov on the dazn monaco card for some wba trinket but couldnt get his visa on time

or maybe they use hunter again? hearn also wanted hunter to fight on the whyte-chisora card i think

I can't see Hearn throwing Hunter into that sort of matchup (Miller would walk through him) and I've heard his name mentioned for the Whyte/Chisora card as well. Not sure how much interest Zhilei Zhang would drive. I'd like to see him against a top 20 first. I've heard names like Bryant Jennings in the past, but nothing for this night, and Jennings has a fight already on the 18th against Oscar Rivas, whom I think can take Jennings out. A good one would be against Pulev, but his new promoters would never be able to work that one out.

im not sure if hearn is really looking to push hunter on his own as much as he is setting him up to be an opponent for one of his bigger names though. i could see him matching him with miller.

That would be less then two months after his last bout. Unlikely. But your points may be true.

well hunter was on the dazn card a month after his previous fight and hearn wanted him to be on the dec 22 card a month after that. jan 18th would actually be an extra months time from whyte-chisora, which he doesnt seem to be on after all. i think hearn said he wanted hunter-takam on that

To contradict that, Hearn offered Hunter Carlos Takam for December 22. He just fought on Nov 24th, so I just don't know.

I had heard the Hunter is hoping for a rematch with Usyk, at Heavyweight. Maybe a good start for Usyk at the higher weight.

i feel like usyk should fight a guy full hw sized, a type of guy who couldnt make cruiser, or at least one who may not be a big hw but is established as a top hw, like pov. hes already fought hunter and beat him widely. a rematch isnt really that interesting yet or useful imo

I've said before, I'd love to see Parker. He's perfect for Usyk. We'd see how he reacts to a bigger body, but not one with too much thunder.

Hunter could beat Miller.

Hunter could beat Miller.
He could theoretically, but he won't. Miller is the best top 10 HW on the inside and has become terrific at walking a man down and cutting off the ring. I'm not saying Miller is all world, but he beats Hunter.

I'd make Miller the favorite, but it would be a step up in competition for him. Can't say that for hunter.

It's a step up in competition at HW for Hunter. And just to say it plainly, Usyk beat him convincingly at CW, so it doesn't speak to what level Hunter is actually at.

Well, whoever Miller fights, let's prepare for disappointment :verysad:
Just one guy in the top #15 would let us know how good he actually is...

Usyk is better than Miller. Hunter was also a well travelled Olympic amateur. I'll be equally Frank, Mike is better than Miller, just a matter of overcoming the size. 50/50 to me. Jarrel shows glimpses but hasn't proven anything. He struggled with a 1 armed wach, it's not like it's Riddick bowe.

Miller/Ortiz would be a really good fight but the reality is that we'll probably get some garbage Dinu-level opponent to let Miller keep his undefeated record while he waits for his AJ payday.

I wouldn't mind seeing him step up and fight Hunter. It's actually an enormous step up for Miller. Not a huge step up for Hunter as he already fought Usyk.

Yes of course Usyk is a better fighter than Miller. Whether or not he can transition to facing full sized HW's is a question until he actually does it. Miller has shown glimpses of what he may become, and his size and combinations, as well as ability to fight inside will serve him well. All of that makes Hunter less likely to have success v. him, IMHO. I still think Miller walks through Hunter. I'd like to see Miller face a top 10. If he continues to better how he presses the action and cuts off the ring, he'll be dangerous to most HW's.

that would be a joke, hard for me to see tbh, 11-1, coming off a stoppage loss a couple months ago, and shoulder injury ?

I'd have to see him cut off the ring against a legit fighter. His last fight was so bad I never bothered to turn on my phone to play it in the background. He hasn't faced anyone that would trouble hunter.

Millers good, he’s gives anyone in the top 5 a tough fight but doesn’t necessarily win. I see him around 6 or 7 in the world maybe on the level of Whyte.
