Americans have paid little attentions to heavyweight boxing since the end of the Tyson/Bowe/Lewis/Holyfield era.

The possible 400,000 figure is about in line with what I expected. Latino fans bought the PPV because of Mikey Garcia.

It won't do quite as well as Pac-Broner even though it promised a bit more intrigue.

We’ll have to wait and see.

FOX promoted this fight well.

I guess it will fall a tiny bit short of co-promoter Richard Schaefers's 1 million estimate.

He'll blame it on illegal streaming.

I wouldnt be at all surprised if Spence-Pacquiao would do 1 million buys on PPV and (if they fight at AT&T where Spence-Garcia drew a live crowd of 47,000+) get close to 60,000 live crowd. That would make it the biggest live boxing crowd in US in the past 40+ years, ever since Ali-Spinks II did 63,000+ in 1978 at New Orleans Superdome. :TU:

If that is true - I am happy to eat my word I estimated barely touching 300k fair play to both boxers and FOX !

Good numbers. Hopefully Crawford/Khan follows suit and maybe we can get the best fight in boxing in a couple years.

Crawford-Khan.

Not PPV stars. No Latino fighter.

A good figure for that fight will be 250,000. I think it might struggle to top 200,000.

Sounds about right

Khan is the attraction here. He’s more known in US than Crawford.

Shame it will be a PPV in UK too.

Crawford is as known as Spence. Khan more so than mikey. We'll see.

Khan might be more known overall than Garcia. But that doesn't necessarily make him an attraction.

Garcia was able to pull in the Latino fan base. Does Khan actually have a fan base in the US?

Canelo-Khan did about 600,000 US PPV buys. I think it would be agreed that Canelo is a "bit" more popular than Crawford. So maybe the upcoming bout draws a third that number.

I see that Arum is predicting 1 million buys for Crawford-Khan. Just like Richard Schaefer forecast that same number for Spence-Garcia.

Promoters must believe if they trumpet a certain buy figure, then it's somehow going to happen.

Maybe if the PPV price was $15. I don't know what it's being sold at. But if it's near the $75 that Garcia-Spence sold for, it will bomb badly.

The fight is viewed as a mismatch. What kind of appeal does it have that will compel fans to order it in high numbers?

I didn't say he was an attraction. Just interested to see the buys and I hope it does well to increase the very small shot of my top fight ever happening.

I really dont think Khan has much of a fan base to speak of in the US. If Crawford-Khan does 1/3 of the PPVs that Canelo-Khan got as you mention, that would be about 200,000 which sounds reasonable.

Hypemeisters like Arum and Schaefer love to predict 1 million PPV buys in an attempt to make potential buyers feel left out if they dont get in on the action.

You would think that the media would hold them to their ludicrous predictions, and ask what these fights fell so short of the magic million mark.

Of course the promoters will sadly say that illegal streaming "unexpectedly" cut into the numbers big-time.

But Arum and Shaefer aren't naive rookies at this business. They're well aware that illegal streams are rampant.

Since PPV began, piracy has also been around.
