Gennady Golovkin vs. Steve Rolls - June 8, 2019
Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Steve Rolls - June 8, 2019
It's a good come back fight for Golovkin to get back into the mix at world level and a strong showing will prove he's back to form again. Rolls meanwhile doesn't look like a world beater by any standards but coming off a national title win, this fight could show that he's at least ambitious to test his mettle against the bigger names in the sport.
I see this as a come back TKO/KO win for Golovkin in the middle rounds. Rolls might be looking to prove he can take on or last against world level opposition given his age (35) but against arguably one of the hardest punchers in the sport I don't see him lasting the distance.

He looked great in the open workout and it appears that he now has a strength and conditioning coach:

I think Sanchez was mainly a strength and conditioning coach. Now Gennady has a real trainer plus a a strength and conditioning coach.

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Steve Rolls - June 8, 2019
I’m actually a little flattered that so many GGG die-hard fans are utterly outraged about me showing a video of Gennadiy Golovkin explaining that he himself had handpicked Steve Rolls, a fighter he’d admitted to having never previously heard of, specifically because he was Canadian, with a view to attracting DAZN subscribers within that territory.
And these strange individuals are either claiming that Gennadiy is lying to save face and that DAZN forced this unheralded and unaccomplished fighter on him or they’re even stooping so low as to pretend that Steve Rolls is a legitimate world-rated foe, whilst also pretending that this bout is going to be intriguing to watch.
I accurately predicted the behaviour of the GGG die-hard fraternity and now they’re so embarrassed about being exposed, they’ve resorted to personal insults, because they’re utterly powerless to challenge the accuracy of Golovkin’s very own words or even the precision of my prophecy!
Absolutely fantastic! Bring on the insults! Your tears due to severe outrage taste delicious!

Re: Gennady Golovkin vs. Steve Rolls - June 8, 2019
Article that has just been pulished today:
"Billy Joe Saunders blasts back at ‘p***y’ Gennady Golovkin after GGG dismisses him as ‘not serious’"
Billy Joe Saunders has branded Gennady Golovkin a ‘p***y’ in response to the Kazakh dismissing him as a potential opponent.
Britain’s newly-crowned two-weight world champion named GGG as a foe he still wants to face following his title win earlier this month, despite the fact they were unable to make an undisputed fight happen back in 2017.
When asked by US reporters about Billy Joe’s latest call-out, Golovkin replied: “Let’s not talk about Saunders. Why talk about Saunders?
“If somebody wants to fight, we’ll consider it. They should all line up, form a line…
“Come on guys, he’s not serious. If you want serious, just ask me a serious question.”
GGG seemingly still holds bad feeling towards Saunders due to the fact their bout never came to fruition when he held three middleweight titles, with BJS at that stage owning the elusive final belt.
However Saunders has a different version of events and posted a screenshot of a private conversation he had with Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler.
The message shows contact between the two parties in 2017, shortly before Gennady’s fight with Daniel Jacobs, and suggests Billy Joe was pushing to get an agreement sent to him to make the undisputed bout happen.
Saunders tagged Golovkin into the image and captioned it: “Who’s the p***y now?”

Tom Loeffler had previously confirmed that Saunders had also agreed to a deal to face GGG had the Canelo rematch failed to materialise, meaning the Brit had signed-up for the Golovkin bout on two separate occasions, but it was the Kazakh that decided to walk away from taking the fight twice.
Thoughts?![[icon_e_confused.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif)

DAZN Unites With Mark Wahlberg, Film 45 For Multi-Series Pact
Ahead of Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin’s debut on DAZN against Steve Rolls at Madison Square Garden on June 8, DAZN announces a multi-series partnership with Mark Wahlberg’s Unrealistic Ideas and Peter Berg’s Film 45, which will begin with the latest edition of 40 DAYS featuring a behind-the-scenes look at Golovkin vs. Rolls.
Unrealistic Ideas, the non-scripted production company formed by world-renowned actor
and producer Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levison and Archie Gips, along with Film 45, helmed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Peter Berg, will executive produce 40 DAYS: GOLOVKIN-ROLLS ahead of their middleweight showdown, live on DAZN. Wahlberg and Berg are avid boxing fans with a well-known track record for success in the boxing world. In 2010, Wahlberg starred as Micky Ward in The Fighter and in 2012, Film 45 produced the ON Freddie Roach boxing docu-series on HBO.
"As a longtime boxing fan, I am excited to be partnering with DAZN to highlight Gennadiy and his unique approach leading up to a fight," says Mark Wahlberg of Unrealistic Ideas.
“It takes a lot of hard work to put on the Big Drama Show,” said Golovkin. “40 DAYS was in training camp from start to finish. Boxing fans will see it all, as Johnathon Banks and I prepare for war at the Mecca of Boxing, Madison Square Garden.”
The 40 DAYS documentary title is derived from the grueling preparation for a prizefight that requires roughly eight weeks of Monday-Friday intense training. 40 DAYS: GOLOVKIN-ROLLS follows the success of the first two editions of the series. DAZN partnered with LeBron James and Maverick Carter of UNINTERRUPTED for the Canelo vs. Jacobs middleweight title clash, and then teamed up with Meek Mill and Jay-Z’s Roc Nation for a look at the heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz, Jr.
“40 DAYS is a series that links world famous boxers with gifted storytellers to give fight fans a unique view of the arduous eight-week preparation for a fight,” says Jamie Horowitz, EVP Content DAZN North America. “When we visited GGG at his camp in Big Bear, we asked him whom he thought would best tell his story -- he immediately asked for Mark Wahlberg and Peter Berg.”
40 DAYS: GOLOVKIN-ROLLS will serve as the first endeavor between Unrealistic Ideas, Film 45 and DAZN. Additional projects will be announced in the coming months.

Steve Rolls is probably having an enormous amount of difficulty believing just what is happening in his world these days.
I doubt he'll be overwhelmed but I do really hope he's gets to enjoy it, come what may.
Once in a lifetime head spinning stuff.

..what GGG said regarding Billy Joe Saunders leads me to believe that Saunders is not on DAZN priority list at this pont..

Or anyone else's. His last stinker of a fight won't help either, he needs another Lemieux type victory. That night he looked as good as anyone in the division.
Now its hard to see where Saunders can go next, I wonder if Lemieux would fancy a rematch after his less than gracious comments about that night.
“Well, revenge is always what I want... I had my problems leading up that fight. I took the fight, even though I shouldn’t have taken the fight, given the injuries I had. But if it happens, I do have unfinished business with Saunders.”

How utterly stupid can people be? They’re actively ignoring GGG’s own words in order to defend this blatant mismatch!
Look at my prophecy and see how it came to fruition by reading through some of the bizarre posts in this thread:

I would agree with you about what I said not really mattering, but it mattered so much to others (not us I might add) that it triggered outrage amongst several others.
And I like rubbing salt into the wounds, even of I’m not really bothered about the subject matter itself.
Some choose to defend GGG at all cost, by pretending that certain things didn’t happen, even when he openly admits to doing them.
It’s funny! And I like to laugh at those hideously upset about trivial matters!

What would matter to us is if you left this forum forever or change your shrink and get better medicine.

If the truth hurts you personally, then that’s on you.
What can a forum moderator do? Ban me for telling the truth and providing video evidence from the proverbial horse’s mouth to justify and support my claims.
Is that what trolls really do? Is telling the truth contravening the rules of the forum?
Do we really live in a world where feelings are more important than facts?
You can’t prove me wrong about anything boxing-related I’ve said in this thread, so you may as well keep insulting me.

I want to put my foot down and refuse to watch gross mismatches like this and Fury-Schwarz but I’m weak and I know I’ll end up watching them. I don’t know anything about Rolls. Hope it’s not a bloodbath.

It is possible that Golovkin will be toying with Rolls for a while testing his "new" boxing skills. Otherwise, it would be nice and short like against Wade.JohnMcMinn wrote: ↑30 May 2019, 18:28 I want to put my foot down and refuse to watch gross mismatches like this and Fury-Schwarz but I’m weak and I know I’ll end up watching them. Gennady Golovkin vs. Steve Rolls - Undercard Information
Title fights, battles between unbeatens, and crosstown rivalries highlight the undercard battles of Gennadiy "GGG" Golovkin vs. Steve Rolls – taking place Next Saturday, June 8, at Madison Square Garden and streamed live on DAZN beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET / 4:00 p.m. PT.
"Ali Akhmedov and Brian Ceballo have earned their way onto this undercard, but now they have to earn their right to move up and that won't be easy since they are both in deep. They are in wars," said Tom Loeffler of GGG Promotions. "The fans should see a lot of fireworks on June 8 from Israil Madrimov, Nikita Ababiy and Charles Conwell, as well. They have a combined record of 15-0 with 13 of their victories coming by way of knockout."
In the co-main event, scheduled for 10 rounds, undefeated super middleweight contenders Ali Akhmedov and Marcus McDaniel will face off for the vacant WBC International Super Middleweight title. Ahkmedov (14-0, 10 KOs), from Almaty, Kazakhstan, and one of the rising stars on the GGG Promotions roster, enters this fight having claimed six of his last eight victories by knockout. McDaniel (15-0, 2 KOs), from New Orleans, enters this fight fresh from an impressive unanimous decision victory over Brian Vera in February.
In a battle of undefeated Brooklyn brawlers, Brian Ceballo (8-0, 4 KOs) and Bakhtiyar Eyubov (14-0-1, 12 KOs) will be slugging it out in an eight-round welterweight battle for borough supremacy. Ceballo, who has already fought twice this year, extended his undefeated record on April 10 with a third-round stoppage of Ricardo Garcia. Eyubov also seems to be gaining strength. His last victory was a seventh round TKO of once-beaten Nicholas Givan.
Matchroom Boxing's highly-touted prospect Israil "The Dream" Madrimov (2-0, 2 KOs), from Khiva, Uzbekistan, who has only fought in 10-rounders since turning professional, will risk his top-10 world-rating when he takes on battle-tested Norberto "Domino" Gonzalez (23-12, 13 KOs), from Monterrey, Mexico, in a 10-round super welterweight bout.
Former U.S. Olympian Charles Conwell (9-0, 7 KOs) from Cleveland, promoted by DiBella Entertainment, will be taking a big step up when he looks to end the three-year unbeaten streak of Brooklyn's Courtney Pennington (12-3-3, 5 KOs). Scheduled for 10 rounds, they will be battling for the vacant USBA junior middleweight title.
The DAZN live stream will open with Matchroom Boxing's power-punching middleweight Nikita "White Chocolate" Ababiy (4-0, 4 KOs), from Brooklyn, in a six-round bout. So far, only one opponent has made it to the second round, but not by much -- :26 seconds! Ababiy's opponent will be announced soon.
The card will open with a non-televised four-round welterweight bout between local favorite Johnathan Arroyo (3-0-1, 1 KO) from Brentwood, NY and Jordan Morales, a veteran of 10 fights, from Sunbury, Pennsylvania.
