I thought he's supposed to be fighting in Sep or Oct. Why isn't it listed on Boxrec? He might clean out the whole heavyweight div. Or he might not. That was profound, wasn't it?

Maybe I'm a bit jaded, but I am prepared to be disappointed.
I would like a boxrec top #15 opponent ideally. Someone either fast and mobile like Parker and Kownacki, or a hard hitter. Someone who can prove Usyk belongs in the division.

I don't think Usyk's team will want to fight Parker in his first bout at HW - could be Takam

I think the best possible opponents would be the likes of Hammer, Price, Kabayel, Dawejko

Interesting. I think Price would actually answer some questions without a tremendous amount of risk.

Is it no longer Takam? That was a pointless fight anyway. Hell, any fight against anyone outside the top 5 is pointless. Usyk vs. any non-elite HW will be completely one-sided.

Takam just signed with a new promoter so they have to renegotiate.

It's starting to feel like Usyk's first HW opponent is gonna be named TBA.

Is there anyone else who just wants him to fight a decent, not great HW, so he has actually fought a true pro bout against a HW?

Then for fight #2, someone like Hunter or Takam, sure.

Then for fight #3, a full-fledged top 15 or top 10.

Otherwise, if he fights a top ten first, how long will it be before he can arrange another fight? A full year? more?

I'd rather see him active and fighting a lot of top 30 guys than waiting around years to get a crack at the top 5.

For his Heavyweight debut I don't care much who he fights. Given his career trajectory, and how little time he wasted becoming the Undisputed Kingpin at Cruiserweight I can't imagine he's gonna frittering his thumbs too long as a Heavyweight either. He'll be in the big fights sooner than later. Within 3 or 4 fights he'll be fighting a big name Heavyweight. Possibly within 2.

Too much time wasted. Most of those fights would be total mismatches.

Agreed. It appears that he wants one little showcase fight as a heavy and then go right for the top.

Well here Wallin is getting his shot at the "lineal title" without ever even fighting any opponent ranked as high as #200!

What if Wallin wins!? Talk about cherry picking gone wrong!

HW but he Still didn't made his debut there. He had to fight Takam in May but it was postponed due to Usyk's injury. Can't wait to see his HW run, Fury vs Usyk would be a fantastic fight skill wise.

It is not pointless to fight adjustment fights when moving up a division. That is how it is most wisely done. And we spectators enjoy watching them.

Yeah i liked the Takam fight too. The replacement opponent will be most likely worse than him.

Considering Usyk's injury, I wouldn't expect his first foray against tough competition and that's just fine.

For a guy of Usyk's caliber, someone like Povetkin would be a fine "adjustment" fight. Someone like Takam is just a waste of time.
