Surely he'll do more than a short stint in the relentless Irish legal system for assaulting that woman?jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑16 Aug 2019, 06:05 He should do a short stint of jail time, straighten him the fck up. Clearly out of control, drunk on his own ego and fame.
What sort of a coward is he, punching an old man, and him a professional combat sports participant. What a pudendum.

Re: MMA
Conor should upload the video to YouTube under his account and count it as an official mma win, Charlie Z style.
Maybe Dana will include the clip in Conor's next fight promo.
Re: MMA
He clearly has a bit of a habit, either booze or Charlie. I'm not a huge MMA fan, but he always struck me as a cheeky chappy type who was good at playing the promotional game. Seems he's turned into a grade A cunthive. I think it's gonna end badly for him, and I don't mean careerwise. At this rate, I could imagine a victim's family member running the twat over.

I remember Dana letting Jessie Taylor go towards the end of TUF 7. He had made it to the finals. But was recorded getting drunk and kicking out the window of the limo ha was riding in. Dana told him that type of behavior is not tolerated by the UFC.

He does. Although he did something similar to the old man of one of Ireland's most notorious hitmen who is associated with the Kinahans.
Allegedly they had to act as middle men to stop the hitman from blowing his head off. Conor supposedly paid him 50k aswell.

Stipe is such a boring & odd character. I cant listen to him talk, I dont know why. Maybe its me but I usually could care less about a fighters "personality" but this guy just makes me cringe.
DC is also very cheesy & unlikeable

He was getting handled by Wonderboy up until the stoppage. And he was stopped by Scarface before that. I guess people are banking on Nate being in the same form he was for Conor. If he is, I'd favor Nate. His pressure and volume will likely be too much for Anthony. Pettis seemed a bit unnerved at the weigh in. But we also have to question Nate's hunger going into this one.
Lots of variables.

Wonderboy imo is much better than Nate... and is he not bigger than nate too?

Re: MMA
Not sure if he's bigger. But he is much more established at 170 for sure. Styles make fights. Wonderboy is more technical than Nate. But Nate brings extreme pressure. If one thing has shown to give Pettis trouble it's pressure and volume. The only reason I'm not confident picking Nate is his inactivity and the money he made off the Conor fights may have satisfied a hunger. If he's still in form, Nate should win. I can see Pettis taking the 1st. But the pressure will start getting to him in the 2nd.Ricky wrote: ↑16 Aug 2019, 23:43Impractical Poster wrote: ↑16 Aug 2019, 20:30

Re: MMA
First off, no matter how much the UFC wants to pretend Nate isn't a star he is. Secondly it's a good match up for Diaz minus the layoff and leg kicks. 3 rounds helps Pettis. I figured it would be a bit wider but not too much.

I don’t know what you mean by “behaved in a similar manner”. You mean talked trash? Do I have to list all the athletes that have talked trash? Let’s just say his faux bad behavior isn’t as bad as many American sports heroes and move on...because telling the crowd to shut up isn’t as bad as murder, rape, domestic abuse, etc etc etc.jujigatame wrote: ↑10 Aug 2019, 11:06You're moving the goalposts and muddying the waters. You said in another era Colby's behavior would make him an "American sports hero". Yet you're unable to name another athlete who has behaved in a similar manner who most people would describe in that way.punchoutsb wrote: ↑10 Aug 2019, 09:49
People look past poor behavior when they like someone. If enough people like you, you're a hero and you can get away with pretty much anything ESPECIALLY in sports. That's what the list I posted proved. Colby's trash talk, while disrespectful, seems tame compared to the behavior of real American sports "heroes" of the past: rape, domestic abuse, drug abuse, alcohol abuse, infidelity, murder, etc etc etc. If Colby didn't wear that hat, people wouldn't care nearly as much about what he said because he isn't saying anything worse than anyone else. It's called trash talk for a reason, and like it or not there is a lot of financial proof out there that trash talk works. Heck, in his own sport to two most popular guys today are complete dirtbag human beings.
Just admit you were full of it and we can all move on.
His little persona is a keep it real, no-nonsense, screw the haters patriot. If you can’t see that there were times in American history when that would have been popular then I don’t know what to tell you.

You are equivocating and changing your point more and more with each post. Not all trash talking is the same. Many fighters have talked trash, very few have insulted an entire country and its people, or made fun of a former champ with brain damage from a car accident.punchoutsb wrote: ↑17 Aug 2019, 10:01I don’t know what you mean by “behaved in a similar manner”. His persona is not a "no-nonsense patriot". It's an obvious, intentional troll operation where he's trying to be the biggest asshole possible and offend people for attention. This is apparently obvious to everyone in the universe except you.

That's debatable. But regardless, Ali was certainly not considered an "American sports hero" at the time. The lionization of Ali came years later when he was viewed in the context of the historical civil rights and anti-war movements.

I don't think it's remotely debatable. Has there ever been someone you'd consider an American sports hero? If Ali doesn't fit the bill color me confused.jujigatame wrote: ↑17 Aug 2019, 14:48That's debatable. But regardless, Ali was certainly not considered an "American sports hero" at the time.
