You don't win an olympic gold against the best crop of amateurs by being a cheat personally felt Ward was never appreciate enough for his accomplishments!
Froch claims that Ward's fighting style is borderline cheating. Do you agree ?

Or maybe if Kovalev was simply the Krusher that he claimed to be, he would've dominated a blown up super middle.adislav123 wrote: ↑06 Sep 2019, 16:04 kovalev would've got the decision if fairly judged in first fight vs. ward.
ward vs. kovalev 2 is one of the stand out examples of total corruption of the sport.
still find it crazy how obvious the poo was they pulled off, not giving a fvck about the fact that everyone with an ounce of brain is aware of the corruption.
Ward said it best. He couldn't stop a smaller fighter, he dropped in the 2nd round.
Kovalev is simply a bully type fighter who folds once a fighter starts to fight him back.

You are a worse loser than Kovalev himself, who is resigned to the fact that he never beat Ward and he never would if he had fought him ten more times.
He has made a super comeback. His fans are still crying like babies refused the tit.

I've seen running backs make borderline touchdowns. They were borderline out of bounds. But it's still a legal touchdown.

I am not a fan of Kovalev, as he is an inferior human being, but he won about 8 rounds in the first Ward fight completely outboxing the alleged slick boxer.ironbeard wrote: ↑06 Sep 2019, 22:49boxing_rocks wrote: ↑06 Sep 2019, 22:42
No. Major boxing countries including Eastern Euros and Americans agree how to split medals. You are so utterly deluded when it comes to Ward that if someone brought up his victories as a 9 year old you would contrive a criticism.

blown up super middle, yeah sure, kovalev a couple of centimeters TALLER, how exactly is he bigger than ward?
yeah, kovalev is a bully, an alcoholic and mentally EXTREMELY weak. his fighting spirit practicly vaporizes the second a real fighter like ward starts hitting back.
weak bully type fighter, Like tyson, like duran. FOLDS under REAL PRESSURE, not a real man.
yeah, exactly rocks!!!

It was a close fight that went Ward’s way. Get over it.

It was not a close fight. A pretty wide win by Kovalev.ironbeard wrote: ↑06 Sep 2019, 23:34About 8 rounds?boxing_rocks wrote: ↑06 Sep 2019, 23:00

Seriously man, where do you get off on pretending everyone’s life is ruined by the kovalev /ward fight? This thread is expressly about Ward’s style, so SURPRISE people are going to talk about ... Ward’s style and the fights he was in. The only one getting emotional about it is you.

+1. And fact he never became superstar of boxing despite how good he was is indicator that boxing fans really dislike his dirty tricks.Riddick Blowe wrote: ↑07 Sep 2019, 03:02Seriously man, where do you get off on pretending everyone’s life is ruined by the kovalev /ward fight? I like Ward’s winning style. It is a style that never lost in the professional ranks. It is a style that was in only one close fight. But, what I like most about Ward’s professional style is that it has left so many whimpering naysayers in its wake.
It was a perfect style.

I disagree. Head butting as he did against Kessler, and punching low, as he did against Kovalev, is the result of not being able to win any other way. We all know head butts and low blows are not consistent with boxing rules.

Head butts and low blows happen in boxing. Kessler could not handle Ward’s inside game. It was not a close contest. Kovalev also landed low blows in his second fight with Ward. Ward did not curl up in a ball and quit while attempting to get a DQ. Ward clipped Kovalev and swarmed him.sturm vogel wrote: ↑07 Sep 2019, 07:33 I disagree. 32-0. One close decision in his career. Maybe perfect is a bit too much; Ward had an almost perfect style.

Boxing fans do not get in the ring. A majority of boxing fans prefer brawling, high risk styles that lead to exchanges of clean head shots.Cent0089 wrote: ↑07 Sep 2019, 04:33+1. Ward has a style that earned him a perfect record, financial security, a lucrative post boxing profession that requires lucid communication skills, and a balanced personal life. That adds up to a damned near perfect sum of a style.
Re: Froch claims that Ward's fighting style is borderline cheating. Do you agree ?
His style was undoubtedly effective. Unfortunately it was just also boring a lot of the time. Usually his fights played out like you're watching a more athletic John Ruiz type. Obviously Ward is levels above Ruiz, but I mean his fights would often be similarly ugly and boring...he was a lot faster, and able to take advantage more of the in-betweens than Ruiz.

Nah, not at all. For an overall account of the competitivness of the fight, you have to count every part of it. I single out the first 2.5 because I think they show it can be a different fight if AJ isnt hurt, and I think the manner in which he first got hurt (rushing in for the kill) is avoidable
But if you asked me to give an overall account, all rounds matter, you also have to mention with Andy bossing it too of course.
