Maybe if they didn't DEHYDRATE at all and fought in the weightclass where they actually weigh like Pacquiao and Mayweather do and fighters before then did,, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Instead, they want to dehydrate just to have a size advantage. Roberto Duran didn't get brain damage from fighting at his weight.Ricky wrote: ↑02 Nov 2019, 17:08
So let's simplify this;
I want fighters to be fully hydrated, because if you are dehydrated your brain (made up if mostly water) shrinks inside your skull. It therefore makes blows to the head significantly more dangerous.
You want fighters to be dehydrated so they don't hit as hard.
10 pound rehydration clause, will it effect Kovalev?

Mayweather and Pacquiao drained like crazy. Particularly pac at 120-130. Floyd cooked himself down so badly he needed illegal IV drips to rehydrate.
I agree in principle though, it's a practice I don't like, i want to see evenly sized fighters compete. But it's a complex problem and same day weigh ins aren't the answer. Promoters already pull dirty tricks in short-noticing journeymen so the A side doesn't lose. Making these guys dehydrate on the same day is too dangerous. 30-day, 14-day amd 7-daybweighins is a better solution.

If you feel you’re telling the truth about your claims about Mayweather and Pacquiao, you’d take me up on my challenge instead of demanding that I receive a ban!
You’re a funny dude! Weak-minded, but a funny fellow.

He hates his life that's the saddest part. He used to be called Fergus. At least he came back with a slightly less pathetic name
Re: 10 pound rehydration clause, will it effect Kovalev?
EO gets very emotional and irrational. Gets wound up easily, like a teenager. But in his defence, he acknowledged that the last time Kovalev weighed around 10 pounds over LH he faded and was KOed by Alvarez. He also acknowledged that this same situation happened with the Ward fights, in terms of fading late. I have to give him credit - these points are valid. Clearly this weight clause is an advantage for team Canelo, no question. However, I was unsure how it would really effect Kovalev. According to EO it may play into this more than I thought although I credit the level of competition as the paramount factor.
Regardless of this all. I’ll give Canelo credit (if he wins legitimately) for taking this fight which is a risk to him even with the stipulations. Not only that I feel it’s a very interesting fight. Looking forward to it.
Re: 10 pound rehydration clause, will it effect Kovalev?
There’s now a rumour that there’s a second rehydration clause lmao. Can anyone confirm this. Kovalev can’t be higher than 190 during the fight.

Re: 10 pound rehydration clause, will it effect Kovalev?
OK, so there was a rumour about an alleged 10lbs rehydration clause, but this was never officially confirmed and nor did we receive any news about Kovalev being weighed on the morning of the fight.
Kovalev’s cited only one excuse for his stoppage loss, which was due to it being too close to the Yarde fight.
So it seems that a lot of fuss was made about a non-issue, whereby Canelo took criticism about something that may not even be true.

If this is true, I thought that Canelo would not do that but there is certain reason to do that. To weaken your opponent. He learned from FMJ to have every advantage possible.
Any official source/ link?
Re: 10 pound rehydration clause, will it effect Kovalev?
Is it just me or isn't it odd to see a middleweight come into the ring ripped 25lbs heavier? Tell me it is all natural. I need a good laugh.

It's an ancient aztec recipe based on meat and ginger that aztec warriors from Tenochtitlan used to consume before their fights.

Re: 10 pound rehydration clause, will it effect Kovalev?
Canelo claims he only weighs between 178lbs to 180lbs between bouts.
A lot of fighters, such as Terence Crawford, Lamont Peterson and Jarret Hurd, claim their out-of-competition weight is about 30lbs heavier than the official limit of their respective weight class.
Canelo was also far less ripped in last night's bout than he was for the Jacobs contest.

Re: 10 pound rehydration clause, will it effect Kovalev?
lol so true.Ol' Fergus.
User Datsue described very well this type of attention seeker-troll like E.O :
" Intelligent or not, he's a complete disingenuous arsehole who cloaks his own opinions in a veneer of bullshit while pretending that he's in fact impartial.
Yet watch him when it's someone he doesn't have a gaping wide-on for in the dock...!
It's like listening to one of those right-wing media types who thinks that saying the word "fact" can simply make inconvenient things that they don't like go away, & that if they keep thrashing things out in a long-winded convoluted fashion you'll lose sight of consensus reality & accept their Byzantine version of events that—despite their constant appeals to some sort of "objectivity"—is only supported by their opinions & their bullshit rhetoric. "
Almost everytime when EO is posting he's leaving a 'maneuvering space' to have a momentum in a possible arque with other posters. He's just fishing or he creates some online disputes to get some kind of weird joy and satisfaction when he is 'winning' them. lol
