Showtime's Charlo-Hogan Telecast Peaked At 275K Viewers

Fewer viewers watched Jermall Charlo’s stoppage of Dennis Hogan on Saturday night than tuned in for Charlo’s previous fight.

According to figures released Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research, viewership for Showtime’s telecast peaked at 275,000 toward the end of a middleweight title clash Charlo won by seventh-round technical knockout at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. An average audience of 249,000 watched Charlo’s victory over Hogan.

Charlo drew a peak audience of 434,000 for his prior appearance, which Showtime aired June 29 from NRG Arena in Houston. The 30-year-old Charlo’s 12-round, unanimous-decision victory over Brandon Adams was watched that night by an average of 379,000 viewers.

Showtime’s viewership could’ve been impacted Saturday night because its tripleheader aired at the same time as college football’s Big Ten Championship game on FOX.

No. 1 Ohio State’s 34-21, comeback win against No. 8 Wisconsin was FOX’s highest-rated college football game this season. Nielsen’s numbers indicated an average of 13,550,000 viewers watched the Buckeyes come back from a 21-7 halftime deficit to remain unbeaten.
