Not heard too much about him recently and hope he is in good health. My favourite British boxer,be great to have a chat with him. Followed him from day one when he was wind milling his way around the small halls, right through to his world championship title wins. Great champion and very under rated.

If Dennis says you're not coming in,then you had better listen to him,I watched a lot of his fights, the Harding fights were brutal.

The two Harding fights were as brutal as anything I've seen but that's just a small portion of his career. No question,my favourite British fighter, ever

I was in The York Hall in the late 90’s and met Dennis. He looked one hard MF.

I recall after his final fight he was still doing high level sparring. Helped prepare Eubank for Carl Thompson.

I believe Dennis is working on the Crossrail link in London and it's hard to believe that the Hackney Rock is now 66. I watched him fight a few times and his sheer physical strength was incredible, along with his longevity. He took a brutal beating from Tommy Hearns in Detroit in 1987 but came back to win the WBC light-heavyweight title twice in big upsets I still don't know how he managed to beat Jeff Harding in Oz in 1990.

Even as an amateur, Dennis was a hefty bugger. He was outscored by Battersea's Devon Bailey in the London ABA light-heavyweight final in 1978 at the Albert Hall but Bailey, who won five London titles in all, sustained a broken jaw and it was Andries who moved on to the ABA quarter-finals at Gloucester where he was outscored by the brilliant Vince Smith of Birmingham, the eventual champion. Six years later, Andries and Bailey met again in a British title encounter at Shoreditch and Andries wore Bailey down and finished him in the very last round. Sadly, it was a bad knockout.

I remember the Hearns fight well. It was impossible to keep him down. Then after the fight Andries trained at Kronk and won the title again. He was amazing, a fighter through and through.

Strong strong man , For his weight built like the proverbial shithouse ,, Had the pleasure of meeting him once , and it was a pleasure , very aproachable , very freindly ,, Which when you think about it ,, so many people would want to meet him it would be easy to get sick of them ... But he seemed to me just a normal guy and we had a normal conversation , to him and his trainer at the time the great Emanuelle Steward , its no big deal and something and someone , they forgot probably has soon has it happenned , but to us people who were and still are big fans ,, Its a big deal and something we talk about . .

Too be honest i'm not and never have been a hero worshipper , if Brad Pitt said to me , you want my autigraph i'd say no you want mine , , but them two were just nice guys too meet . and say hello

Think Dennis's win over Bobby Czyz is often overlooked, Dennis wasn't brought in to win, they looked at him as a quick route to a title shot for Bobby, all 3 judges were from Bobby's home state as well, so for Dennis to go along and outpoint Czyz in a close fight was a big surprise.

Dennis developed a jab for that fight too, very impressive win taking into account Andries style when he first won the title against JB Williamson
