Think a repeat of the Saudi permonce wold be a ridiculous easy fight for Tyson.
I’ve gone off Oliver because of his bias on the podcast. I’m amazed he lets FW on! He does tip Tyson though.
It’s not long ago Boomer was 100% certain he’d be Tyson himself!

Joshua fought like a scared man in Saudi, against, lets face it, a completely out of shape Ruiz. He probably fears going in for a finish now when he's got a guy hurt. We will see if he's shaken off those demons against Pulev or if he's now going to be safety first in a massive ring.

Tyson, showed that he had no ill effects from the knockdowns in the first Wilder fight and bounced back emphatically.

I do think that Joshua believes that Tyson isn't a puncher, is easy to hit but I think he is underestimating his strength, versatility and skill. If Tyson does a similar job on Wilder again, then he has to be a big favourite against AJ.

Anthony Joshua and Joe Joyce will link up as sparring partners to prime each other for their high-stakes heavyweight clashes.

Joshua is expected to defend his IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles against mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev on December 12, and Joyce will meet his fellow unbeaten British contender Daniel Dubois.

Representatives of Joshua and Joyce confirmed to Sky Sports that they would share a ring again to aid each other preparations.

They have shared hundreds of rounds of sparring across many years as they came through Team GB's amateur programme, although Joyce has more recently sparred with Tyson Fury in the US.

"There've been many bruising sessions over the years," promoter Eddie Hearn told Sky Sports about Joshua and Joyce's history.

"Joe has been around for many years on the amateur scene. When AJ was coming through, Joe was one of the experienced guys and some of their spars have been fantastic.

"Obviously AJ went to another level, but Joe is still an outstanding heavyweight."

Joshua won the super-heavyweight gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics. Joyce represented Team GB four years later in Rio and took home silver after controversially losing the final to France's Tony Yoka.

Joshua and Joyce's paths will now cross again.

"I think the research will be in place to identify probably half a dozen sparring partners that will be the right style for Pulev," said Hearn.

"The sparring for Andy Ruiz, first time around, was so difficult because we had five weeks to find a short - sorry Andy - tubby, fast heavyweight with great movement. It's very, very difficult to find.

"We got it perfectly right for the rematch. We really brought in five or six guys that had the speed, had the movement, and replicated the style."

Arum: Fury-Wilder III No Longer Scheduled For 12/19; Could Occur Earlier

The date for the third Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder fight has changed yet again.

Promoter Bob Arum informed ESPN.com on Wednesday that Fury-Wilder III no longer is scheduled to take place December 19. The site for their third WBC heavyweight title fight still will be Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the new home of the NFL’s Raiders, according to Arum.

The date for Fury-Wilder III has changed for the third time largely due to the loaded college football schedule the night of December 19. Numerous conference championship games will be played December 19, later than usual because FBS programs’ schedules were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

ESPN and FOX, which will co-distribute Fury-Wilder III on pay-per-view, will air various college football championship games that day. Their executives advised Arum, whose company co-promotes Fury, and Al Haymon, who represents Wilder, to change the date of their third encounter in part because it’d have a better chance to attract more buys on another date.

Arum told ESPN.com it is possible Fury-Wilder III could take place earlier in December, not necessarily early in 2021.

“We’re moving off [December 19] because there’s five conference championship games that day and night, plus two NFL games,” Arum said. “So, we can’t go with the 19th. We’re looking at other dates right now because ESPN advised us, and FOX advised PBC [Haymon’s company]. … We’re looking at the schedule – PBC, FOX, ESPN and us – to pick a date.”

Fury, 32, and Wilder, 34, were tentatively scheduled to fight again July 20. The coronavirus crisis quickly shifted the date to October 3, which later was changed to December 19.

Their third fight never has been officially announced for any of those three dates.

England’s Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) stopped Alabama’s Wilder (42-1-1, 41 KOs) in the seventh round of their rematch February 22 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Wilder and Fury fought to a split draw in their first fight – a 12-rounder in December 2018 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Arum added Wednesday that the site of Fury-Wilder III won’t change.

“It’s definitely Allegiant Stadium,” Arum said. “The Raiders are on board, the city is on board, the [Las Vegas] Convention [& Visitors] Authority is on board. Everybody is on board.”

Joyce has no ‘take it easy button’. He spars as relentlessly as he fights.
AJ has sparred him loads before but there’s an element of danger sparring with Big Joe. Clash of heads or just spars turning into gym wars are inevitable.

I agree with that, but with the proviso it's because of Fury's size. I think Usyk's more skilful than Fury on the inside, but not as effective. Usyk can't deploy Akinwande's octopus, nor use his elbows as safely.

I suppose anyone wpuld fight scared against a lump who can't be budged and can do you with one punch, regardless of how atrocious his body looks.

Fury is the favourite for me but not massively. His two big wins are over one dimensional fighters, one of whom was old and chinny and the other amateurish and chinny. Joshua using both hands, trying to cut off the ring and work the head and body is more than either Wlad or Deontay did. Will be interesting to see what happens because Fury does go down.

That's a crazy statement. His two wins are easily two of the top 10 of the last decade.

Klitschko wasn't one dimensional. He was a boxer with excellent footwork, great stamina and carried massive power. Wilder you could maybe say was one dimensional, but not Wlad.

Fury can outbox Josh or go ahead and beat him on the front foot, Fury is just so much more comfortable in there. Josh can catch him and is a serious threat but Fury on his game has more tools to win it

Well done, that's the first time I have ever seen "Wladimir" and "great stamina" together.

He was notoriously one dimensional and his reign was diabolical. HBO stopped broadcasting him because he was so bad. His style was jab jab and grab, jab jab and grab some more, maybe risk the right if it was safe. His fights were slow and his output poor because he was scared of gassing.

Wilder can't jab, throw a left hook or punch in combinations, and he has two left feet. When Fury jumped on him he couldn't defend himself, because without room to sling a wild right he has no game.

None of this will be the case when he fights Joshua, which makes the fight intriguing to me.

I agree that it's intriguing. AJ is just a better opponent for Fury than either Klitschko or Wilder, to the point where you can make a good case for AJ winning (even if I don't think he will).

But I wouldn't say Joshua has none of their weaknesses. On stamina, after being hurt his output goes right down. Look at rounds 6 to 10 v Klitschko - he hardly throws a punch and gets soundly outworked by a 41-year old. Similar against Ruiz - after that disastrous round 3 his output goes way down while getting gradually worked over until round 7. Even against Whyte, there's a huge dip in rounds 3 and 4. Fury has a big edge there.

Chin is an interesting one - AJ can be hurt but Fury probably doesn't hit as hard with single shots as Ruiz, Klitschko or even Whyte. So it remains to be seen if Fury's steady accumulation of hard shots will have the same effect.

Otherwise it's a case of whether AJ's steady textbook straight shots and combos beat Fury's unorthodox and creative boxing. AJ has heart, so perhaps he can walk through that fire if he can take the shots. I think Fury takes it but it's closer than some think.

If AJ needs to get into a war to beat one of them , it's defo Fury. He's unlikely to outbox him in a measured fight and Fury can survive odd rough spots from single shots too. Josh needs to put shots together and go for it.

In fact my worry about AJ would be if his confidence is hurt a bit and he's now more cautious and wary of being aggressive, he'd play too much into Fury's hands
