Middleweights: Gennady Golovkin vs. Emile Griffith

Post by scorpio83 »

15 Rounds Middleweight Bout

Would GGG swarm all over Griffith with his jabs and punching power to take a decision or vice versa for Griffith who would out-box GGG on the outside behind his jabs and combinations to take a decision. What do you guys think and who do you got?

Griffith was almost always sturdy as all hell so I don't think Golovkin can stop him. I expect we'd see a very competitive Boxing match here with either Griffith or Golovkin winning by a narrow margin of 8 rounds to 7 or 9 rounds to 6.

I'd favor Golovkin as he's a more natural Middleweight, but Griffith at his best as a Middleweight (the version of him who beat Benvenuti lets' say) could certainly hold his own in this fight.

GGG would be too strong. It would be Carlos Monzon all over again.

Same. Griffith was amazingly durable. I just don't think GGG could dent him and Emile would do enough to win a close decision. The difference with a Monzon, for instance, is that Monzon was brilliant at using his size advantage. And even then, Griffith gave him a hell of a tough fight in both bouts.
