PLEASE READ: Catastrophic Energy attack disrupts Sim!!

Post by BoxBuzz »

The history of this season is in dire straits, as the database has been attacked and apparently compromised.......Goldenbuzz engineers, and high tech experts are on the case, and we may find ways to move forward with or without the ongoing historical record.

This damn software is most compatible with the old XP Windows. And I have discovered that Windows 10 does allow for "compatibility options". I have learned much as this season has unfolded, and I believe my next Sim Universe will be devoid of such fragility.

SADLY THIS season has always been a giving me fits and challenges. And we may have lost our shared history.

Let's have a moment of silence....for all that was.....in this "almost post covid" season, should I be unable to revive the brave pugilists who may be trapped in the Data Mines for eternity.

OK.....enough sentiment.....moving on.....

I will spend a bit more time to resurrect the carnage AND at the same time will be working on creating a new universe, which will allow us to continue forward together into a better sim future. I am fairly sure I can create separate but equal "Zombies" which will carry much of the essence of our former sim fighters. The departed will have lost their memory....but their ability to carry on....(perhaps in a refreshed state) appears to be within reach! This new variant of fighter will likely be harder to defeat...as the only way to truly beat a zombie pug is to eat their brains.

Here is my suggestion for the immediate future.

1. We use the MDT to finalize the pre Zombie outcome. Jem's belt could be placed back into contention at this point....(basically hitting the ball from where it lies). What's past is past......and the WBA is placed back into the mix.
Leading us to a unified champion in rather short order. And that could be the end if we choose to leave it there.
THE MDT champion would have bragging rights for the first section OR for the entire FW season.

However

I have an idea for a "post zombie apocalypse" BDT..... Where we pick up from the MDT to the BDT. Higher stakes..... ,using the MDT format. With all belts once again in contention. (The Unified champ does not lose status, as the "Z-Belts" are on a different level, and represent post season activity.) If my math is right.....A BDT would take us to having approximately a 30 fight full season. Despite the pandemic of pugilic interruptus.

At any rate.....this is my pandemic recovery plan should it be needed....(and it looks like it will be) ......should it be acceptable to the public at large.

Please look for the sticky for a vote on the next weight class to begin sometime in July. And one for the Z FW.

Do you want to try the newer version of the sim out?

I'd be happy to give it a try.....thinking more of using it for the next season IF i feel it can be truly stable. And honestly, I think I've worked out many of the bugs....but once you start a "universe" you are bound by your original mistakes. Which is what happened here in this season.

You have to choose your media, computer, and backup systems carefully before you begin one of these little endeavors.
It's gone corrupt on several commissioners through the years, and I have become pretty familiar with it's foibles. So I think I can stay a step ahead.

Want to shoot me a PM, and I'll test trial it?

The crash is a sh1t one, no doubt about it... But it's the same for all of us.
All we can do is keep moving forward...

This will probably be a 30 week season, so The Super Six will begin in Week 26.

Unfortunately not, we can't just change the rules halfway through a tournament. Besides, by rights - Azumah Nelson is the rightful WBA World Champ, if we are going to go down that road.

Jem made the decision not to risk his belt, so he will gain nothing in return... As such, regardless of result, Henry Armstrong will remain our WBC World Champ come Week 21, regardless of result...

I think you misunderstood...completely. I had intended to toss the belt. Placing the WBA in contention for others......but I'm fine either way.

Ah right, i get you now. So the WBA Championship will be available until the final, but not before... Azumah will go along with that.

Have any of the last 4 or 5 seasons actually came to their conclusion or do they always get interrupted?

Some of them do come to their natural endpoint... Personally, I detest it when it gets broken up prematurely. Makes it feel like all the work that I've put in is for nothing...

And after BoxBuzz's recent stunt of awarding himself a title shot (which he won) I think I may have to stand down as a Commish next season and let someone else pick up the ball and run with it.... It's definitely affected my confidence....

Just toss in the towel for the season IMO. Restarting it from scratch wastes all the time and effort previously. My motivation is sunk on it. Armstrong after the reset isn't the same one I built up prior. You get no true champion, HOF voting is unrealistic, etc.

Maybe next season we just aim for 20 week seasons. Seems to be the stopping point the last 2 or 3 seasons.

For the second time Crease....... you misunderstood..... it was my intent to put it up for grabs and had no designs on Armstrong's title. ....but your response is a good reason that no one should be Comish and manage fighters. Any good luck I have is purely suspect. I don't blame anyone for that....and to be fair, for anyone who was keeping up, I had offered to jettison my fighters more than once for that very reason. But trust/faith is not the way of the world.....I'm a bit of sceptic at time myself. So I'll not play such a dual role again.

Hope some folks had some fun....and I'm willing to go forward if anyone is interested.

If no one objects, I'm inclined to just run a final tourney with the current roster...and just see where it all lands. I would slightly prefer to take my guys out....because if Bobby Chacon should win.....I'm sure it would ruin someone's day. And I understand it would be rather stretching of credibility. Though if I was just a manager I would celebrate it and rub it in to the 'enth degree.

I'll host another season beginning in July, I won't have fighters in the mix. And a splendid time is guaranteed for all.

I'd begin before that IF there is interest.

Geto, I do believe a new season would be more stable because I think I know where the issues exist. And I'm willing to test drive the new version in a way to determine it's stability before the next season begins...if you are still of the mind to share. For those keeping up, I was being transparent about the issues with the software.

AND........ if anyone else feels the wish to host....I'd love to just participate as a manager.

That is all.

I have absolutely no problem with you managing fighters during the season ‘Buzz, you’ve always been on the level. Crease, I feel you’re being a little out of order in this matter.

Personally I’ve really enjoyed this season. It was a bit bonkers, but what isn’t these days? I’m 100% in for the next one.
