Press Release | Alen Babic vs. Eric Molina Set

Alen Babic will battle former World Title challenger Eric Molina in a scheduled eight-round contest on the undercard of Dillian Whyte’s huge showdown with Otto Wallin at The O2 in London on Saturday October 30, live worldwide on DAZN.

‘The Savage’ (8-0, 8 KOs) continued his destructive run of form when he retired Mark Bennett in five rounds on the undercard of Kid Galahad’s IBF Featherweight World Title win over Jazza Dickens on the second week of Matchroom Fight Camp in Brentwood, Essex.

‘Drummer Boy’ (28-7, 20 KOs) gave Fabio Wardley the toughest test of his career at the Europa Point Sports Complex in Gibraltar earlier this year and heads into his clash with Babic on the back of a third-round knockout win over Alejandro de la Torre in August.

“The Savage calls upon his army once again,” said Babic. “The stage is The O2 Arena, the opponent is Eric Molina. The Savage is coming home. Pain is on the menu that night, let us embrace it. I don't want a normal fight, I want a painful one. Eric Molina - I hope you are ready because it is going to be a painful fight. Happy Halloween, Eric.”

“The Heavyweight division is on fire," said Molina. "These are the explosive fights that people want to see. I plan to use my size and experience to my advantage. This is a very very dangerous fight for Babic.”

Babic vs. Molina is part of a huge night of boxing in the capital, Dillian Whyte (28-2, 19 KOs) puts his Interim WBC Heavyweight World Title on the line against Sweden's Otto Wallin (21-1-0-1, 14 KOs), Northampton’s Chantelle Cameron (14-0, 8 KOs) meets the USA’s Mary McGee (27-3, 15 KOs) in a unification clash for the WBC, IBF and Ring Magazine Super-Lightweight World Titles.

So the show looks like….

Whyte vs Wallin
Babic vs Molina
Cameron vs McGee
Craig Richards vs Marek Matyja - average looking polish fighter
Khoumari vs Castenada - good 50/50 - I’m having a bet on Castenada.
Fights for Jonny Fisher, Ellie Scotney and John Hedges.

Not a bad show but not a good undercard either. Eddie will push the Cameron fight as it’s a title unification but in reality few people will care about it. If they’d replaced it or added to it with a good British title fight (like we had with Cheeseman/Metcalf) then happy days.

Ah apologies wasn't concentrating. :D Well good for us. I'm sure both these fights will be a 'great advert for women's boxing' and that we will be reminded of how wonderful and exciting women's boxing is...... every 15 seconds

My £1.99 introductory offer expired on Sunday so I managed to squeeze in the Liverpool bill and the Mikey Garcia show.

I'd quite like to see big Otto wallop Dillian but the undercard is absolute pants.

I'm still thinking about it, but if Conor Benn gets a decent test on the Chisora/Parker undercard and Haney vs JoJo Diaz comes off I'll probably re-subscribe.

They can keep Andrade vs Quigley though, that's shite.

They're doing just enough to keep me on board.

I'm more frustrated with the the absolute shit BT and Sky are churning out at the moment.
BT need to announce good fights for Dubois and Joyce soon and they better not be some PPV wank.

I listened to an interview with Frank a short while ago.

Dubois will almost certainly be on the Paul/Fury undercard.

Joyce won’t be fighting this year as they’re waiting to see what the WBO do. This is a joke really as Joe isn’t getting any younger. Why does it matter what the WBO do - AJ/Usyk dealt the WBO mandatory when they fought so, unless belts are given up, another mandatory won’t be called for at least 12 months and after the WBA/IBF are happy. He’s no spring chicken so they need to keep him active. He’s been fit all year and will have had just one fight.

Frank also said they offered Conor Benn £500k to fight Avanesyan on BT PPV - I think that shows where their mindset is now - all about PPV.

Has there been one really good regular BT Sports show this year?

The way I look at it is that I’d have almost certainly paid £20 for the Whyte show on Sky because I really like Whyte (rarely in a bad fight) albeit I would have hated the undercard if it was PPV. Now the £20 gets me the show, plus the poor Sheffield show, plus the Andrade card, Haney card, Lopez/Kambosos, the Chisora/Parker show and some others from Golden Boy, Mexico and Italy/Spain.

They've been saying for ages Joyce would fight again this year but we're late October and no opponent named.

I agree, I fear they will sit on Joyce now and wait for a mandatory. As far as I'm aware Joyce isn't even mandatory as yet, he's only ranked 1. By the time that mandatory is due, probably 2023, I'd imagine a final eliminator may be in order. We may even have Okolie/Briedis use their WBO cruiser to get a mandatory.

In the ring Joyce needs big fights he's basically in his prime right now. I mean in 2 years Joe would be 38, if he doesn't keep active and against good opposition now I don't see him posing any threat.

As for Dubois, yeah I'd agree looks like on the Jake Paul Tommy Fury undercard. But still no news on the Trevor Bryant fight or WBA ordering it.

This is reportedly off due to a Whyte shoulder injury. Hopefully they just make the Whyte/Fury fight in a few months time instead.

UK papers. I believe The Scum reported it first which does suggest it may not be the whole story though...

The fact that Hearn or Whyte haven't come out with anything suggests that they're trying to "save" the card. Wardley to step in? Chisora? The card would be unsalvageable if they don't keep the main event.
