Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Fury vs. Whyte
Are some people dropping Whyte low because they don’t like him perhaps?
He ain’t my favourite, but for the sake of being fair, I think he should either remain #5 pending the winner or Joyce-Parker and Ruiz-Ortiz, if they ever fight.
No lower than #8 for me personally.
None of the other boxers have even done anything recently.

Of course we vote in different ways.
Overall resume vs. Recent win/loss vs. Only as good as your last fight.

The poll is looking quite shocking.
What’s many reasons for below 10?
I know Kiwi says he’s on par with Chisora Euro gatekeeper or what he was saying.

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Fury vs. Whyte
Whyte to 9 for me. Fury toyed with him, but he beat Parker and would probably give Ruiz a run for his money, a fat slob who nether the less got a win over legit top 4 Joshua (I think Wilder would beat Joshua, but that's nothing to do with this poll: I also think Fury-Usyk is a 50/50 but we'll see what happens in the AJ rematch)
I'm a confirmed Joyce believer, who I think would beat everybody outside of the top 4 (I actually think he'd grind down AJ but let's not get too excited) but until we get the result of the forthcoming Parker-Joyce fight, I can't rank him 5th no matter how much I think he deserves that place. I think he'll beat Parker up.
I think a rejuvenated Parker does Whyte in a rematch, and until Ruiz loses he has to hold his position as a solid top 10, but Pulev and Ortiz are old men who have done nothing recently to hold their positions as better, and even at this point Whyte despite being dominated by Fury would knock either out.
Whyte is still top 10.
Fury keeps the top spot, Whyte to 9. There's my vote.

Whyte to 8 for me. Seems a very easy pick to me, although noone can agree haha.
Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Fury vs. Whyte
Sorry you're right. Whyte to 9 would push Ortiz up to 8, no? Whyte would beat Ortiz, so Whyte to 8. Ortiz stays at 9 and Pulev at 10.gregregegg wrote: ↑25 Apr 2022, 19:16 Whyte to 8 for me. Seems a very easy pick to me, although noone can agree haha.
Bit of a miscalculation on my part. Sorry for whoever collates the stats.
Whyte to 8.

I think we will need a complete revote soon. the voting up and down goes alright but every couple of years i think it needs a redoo. knock out some of the dead wood.
p.s the TBAs are pretty grim.

Gonna keep this one open for a while.
It’s not as straight forward.

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Fury vs. Whyte
I think the main reason to keep Whyte at #5 would be, he’s been recently active. At least.
What have the other guys below him done to be over him recently?
Fair enough we have some fights nearly scheduled over the next few months. And it those fights take place and Whyte doesn’t fight for the rest of the year then naturally, the winners of the said bout will overtake Whyte anyway right?

Fury stays at #1
Whyte stays at #5 (until the 3 guys below him fight next)

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Fury vs. Whyte
He got dominated and stopped. Granted, he was up against Fury, who is very very good, so there should be no shame in it. But he should take some kind of demotion, as he hadn't fought for over a year prior to that. If he carries on fighting and gets another good win under his belt, then he can move back up.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 05:39 I think the main reason to keep Whyte at #5 would be, he’s been recently active. The next few months will be very interesting for the HW division. We've seen our number 1 fight our number 5, our 2nd ranked fighter will be fighting our 3rd, and it looks like it's on with the 6th and 8th ranked (well, before this poll closes) as well. All we need is for Fat Andy to sign to fight Granpa Ortiz and a couple of the lads in the top 15 to notch at least an impressive win and then we might actually have a solid looking top 10 by the end of summer.

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Fury vs. Whyte
I'm going to buck the trend in the voting and put Whyte down to #6. I was really impressed with Parker's last performance, so I think he deserves to be nudged up one spot. In contrast I wasn't too impressed with Ruiz Jr. and Ortiz. However, I fully expect the eventual winner of their long overdue fight to displace Whyte.
Oh and Fury stays at #1, but that might change depending on what happens in the Usyk v Joshua rematch.

Depends on how long he should move down tbh.Cyclops wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 06:24He got dominated and stopped. Granted, he was up against Fury, who is very very good, so there should be no shame in it. If he goes below both Parker AND Joyce, but then Parker loses to Joyce, are we then moving Parker back below Whyte? Does it depends how the person wins?
We have potential fights scheduled and in the next 2-4 months as well, maybe we should see how each of them perform. The rankings aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Pulev, Hrgovic, Yoka and Bakole are all fighting soon as well.
Possible Ruiz and Ortiz against each other.
Should help clear the whole list soon.
Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Fury vs. Whyte
It's all subjective but yes, to me, if Parker loses to Joyce and he is not even remotely competitive, looks awful, gets KO'd in 2 and cries in the ring afterwards he could potentially go back behind Whyte in the rankings. If he loses a close one and looks good doing it then he doesn't. That's not unreasonable, is it? Joyce has a string of respectable wins and has only ever gone the distance with Jennings which was yonks ago. Parker looked improved away from Kevin Barry and beat the snot out of Chisora.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑26 Apr 2022, 09:17If he goes below both Parker AND Joyce, but then Parker loses to Joyce, are we then moving Parker back below Whyte? When I said he can move back up, I didn't mean he can go back up to 5. If he looks good against somebody decent, I'll consider his position against everyone else. But unless he takes on another top 10 guy and beats him taking his ranking, the most he'd move up is one place. If he fights some top 30 guy next and looks bad in that, I'd have to consider whether he should be top 10 at all.
It's good how annoyed this heavyweight top 15 makes people isn't it?

Don’t some people think he lost to Jennings? Or it was close?
Also the Takam fight wasn’t that good a performance apart from the ending that he stopped him.
