David Benavidez vs. David Lemieux | Showtime - May 21, 2022
Re: David Benavidez vs. David Lemieux | Showtime - May 21, 2022
What does step up mean at 168, though? It's not a very good division atm, and I think he'd make easy work out of Plant.

plant would be a vast improvement on the likes of lemieux, kyrone davis, ronny ellis , ronny gavril, and romer angulo. let's not act like benavidez just simply has no better options. fights gotta be won in the ring too, not hypothetically
mall-benavidez should happen too. get mall up to 168 for his next one.
even uzcategui would be a top 2 opponent for benavidez. same goes for john ryder, danny jacobs, etc. jesse hart is back at 168 too i think
christain mbili too, easily shutout one of dave's last opponents

deadly.... between that and strategic dick punches i think i could be a real coach. but really point is it wasnt a jab.skanksta wrote: ↑22 May 2022, 00:45A lead longish, shovley uppercut ? Charlo just fought some unknown Mexican that I remember fought Barrera on Boxeo Azteca years before he somehow went up two divisions to 160. Now he's fighting Sulecki. Why even bring it up like it's an option?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑22 May 2022, 00:50 plant would be a vast improvement on the likes of lemieux, kyrone davis, ronny ellis , ronny gavril, and romer angulo. let's not act like benavidez just simply has no better options. fights gotta be won in the ring too, not hypothetically

People still give Ramirez crap for having his best win be over Hart. Just no win with boxing fans, and last I saw of Uzcategui, I would consider Lemiux a better scalp. Dude lost to journeyman Thompson. His punch resistance looked completely gone. He's seems to have gotten shot overnight after the Dirrell fights.

charlo and benavidez are 'beefing' and charlo has little to fight at 160, and should move up. he's a much better fight than david lemieux in 2022. they are both with pbc too so it could happen.
lemieux barely f@cking beat max bursak and got dropped twice, was in his prime 8 years ago at middle and doesnt have a single half decent win at 168. and he's not even as bad as it gets for benavidez. guys like ron ellis, ron gavril, kyrone david, roamer angulo, etc.....utter crap. might as well rematch dennis doughlin. let's not act like benavidez simply has nothing else better out there for him.
there are many guys who would be steps up on these. ppl dont give zurdo crap because he beat hart, they give him crap for the continual stream of sh!t he's fought since.
hart, mbilli, plant, charlo, ryder, jacobs, hell, even marcus browne at 175 is better. his opposition is so weak that even the likes of lerrone richards and carlos gongora are steps up on his usual

Another f*ckin' mismatch as expected. Formally, a bit premature stoppage, but it didn't really matter, a legit KO would be moments later anyway. It looked like a drained LHW bullying a fat MW. Who needed this sh!t?
Benavidez must fight a living body. Him vs Plant sounds good.

Re: David Benavidez vs. David Lemieux | Showtime - May 21, 2022
The broadcast commentator was saying Benavidez is now 3 time world champ at 168, totally ignoring the fact the win today was just for Interim Champ. Be interesting to see how long the WBC take before calling for the mandatory fight to take place. Does anyone know the order that the ABC Orgs have agreed ?

poor boxing match.
If no Charlo, Plant or Andrada then move up to challenge Zurdo Ramirez, Buatsi, Callum Smith, Pascal or Marcus Browne.
Canelo ain't gonna fight these guys if they don't fight each other.

it's also lol at hyping up benavidez being a 3 time champ when him losing the title each time was due to his own lack of discipline.

Tbh I think this charade about a very avoided "champion" that nobody wants to fight him is just a marketing gimmick.
In reality these fighters like to stay safe, hyping up their profile with cannon fodder opponents, hoping they would get a big payday.
BJS did it with success but also he was very lucky that Canelo wanted his paper title.

Ok I’m convinced, Benavidez is a bad ass. And Lemieux is one very brave warrior. No quit in that man.

Also watching the midnight showtime extreme replay, just before the main event it switches back to the movie that was on beforehand, halfway through. What the hell ?
And it did the same thing last week, one minute I was getting ready to watch Charlo, the next minute I was watching a softcore porn movie.

Agreed.
As Benavidez put it afterwards, credit to Lemieux for taking the fight when so many others wouldn't.
By now the whole world will know that Benavidez is a serious threat at 168.
Let's see who wants him next.

why's it on everyone to make a fight with him? why doesnt his team sort out a half decent opponent on their own for once?
he's been fighting absolute trash for years, and twice lost his belt due to his own lack of discipline - first cocaine, then being a fat ass. mind boggling that people treat this guy like he's some victim. he's done things that usually make people sh!t on a fighter
he was like a 40-1 fave in this fight, vs a guy whose prime was 8 years ago at mw and even then couldnt win 10 seconds vs ggg or saunders.

Good stoppage from Lemieux's corner, he was taking an absolute pasting in there, should've been stopped in the 1st probably, Benavidez rocked him bad with a left hook and battered him in the corner, incredible how Lemieux never went down he took big shots there before the bell went then Benavidez put him down with a left hook come uppercut in the 2nd, Lemieux had heart left if not much else, some bravery, Benavidez continued to put a beat down on him before the corner threw the towel in the 3rd

Its the same ol' story. They try to hype him up like being the boogeyman of smw division that everyone is avoiding him, so that the public and the media to put pressure on Canelo to fight him. It's a marketing gimmick to get that big payday/cash in vs Canelo.
Indeed Lemmy was just another washed up opponent fighting for a cheque.
Watch his next opponent being announced!
Re: David Benavidez vs. David Lemieux | Showtime - May 21, 2022
Benevidez said his team reached out to Plant, Charlo, and Canelo, so it's not like he doesn't want big fights.
Dave Morell, ranked 5th, said he'd fight, and Benevidez said he'd take that if offered. Morell is 6'1" Southpaw with good skills. It would definitely be better than Lemieux.
Maybe Janibek will move up? He seems to be avoided too, that would be good.

Morrell seems keen and that might be next for Benavidez on November.
After last night's demolition of Lemieux I can't see any of the others queuing up. No way is cautious Caleb Plant letting himself in for any of that.
If Benavidez had carried Lemieux for 12, then it might have been a different story.
In today's business of boxing where every opponent is carefully chosen it's refreshing to see someone like Benavidez prepared to storm the gates.
Even better, Benavidez has plenty of time to do it. Its high time we had a top 10 of the currently most feared and avoided fighters.
If we did, then we might find Benavidez right up there with the likes of LH Artur Beterbiev, and WW David Avanesyan who's apparently so feared that I hadn't even heard of him previously.

Again, these guys won't fight him, and why does Benavidez need to move up when he hasn't even unified or gotten his belt back?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑22 May 2022, 01:16 charlo and benavidez are 'beefing' and charlo has little to fight at 160, and should move up. he's a much better fight than david lemieux in 2022. they are both with pbc too so it could happen.

I already showed you who Charlo was fighting. I've not heard a peep from Ryder, who I honestly think is a step down from Lemuix. Lemuix had a punchers' chance. Ryder doesn't even have that. He's a Euro level dude. Again 168 isn't that great, and dudes in and around don't take risks.
I honestly think it's either Andrade, Charlo, or Plant that Benavidez needs to fight. Outside of this, I don't really care.

I think Plant and Charlo will continue to avoid fighting him, an Andrade has a fight signed to take after he gets healed up. Morell is an option next.
I'd love to see him and Andrade face off and winner gets Canelo. Morell is very good, and would be a perfect tune up for Andrade, who is also a southpaw. Both Andrade and DB would fight if Canelo could be next.

do you really think benavidez is fighting the best guys possible - ron ellis, roamer angulo, kkyrone davis, lemieux, etc
yes, lemieux is so dangerous at smw that he beat the great max bursak by 1 point on a hometown decision, after being dropped twice. that great win is why benavidez was only a 40-1 fave over lemieux
Re: David Benavidez vs. David Lemieux | Showtime - May 21, 2022
Call Lemieux a stay busy fight if you want, at least he had the courage to fight. DB couldn't get Mall Charlo, Plant, or Canelo. Give him a break. At 25 he is seeking the top guys out there. He beat Dirrell, good win, and wants to take on the best out there. Canelo/Benavidez would be a barn-burner. The hand speed on display would be insane.
