Last night beterbiev won the wbo, ibf and wbc titles though he allowed himself to be covered in the WBC crap T-shirt and hat.

Why don’t fighters tell them to F off ??? There’s always suremaine or some other minion with sh it eating grins ready to pounce at the final bell with their rubbish.

Because they offer the service.

They bring the gear to the fights and put it on the boxers.

Other orgs just never do it.

There’s nothing stopping them from doing it.

Although the boxer might be a unified champion, as long as they hold the WBC belt, I don’t think they’re gonna tell them to F off.

Iv often wondered this. It must be a crazy clause in the WBC contract. If it wernt they would be wearing gear with there sponcers logos.

I cant belive its just "they produce a shirt so the boxer wears it out of kindness". Money trumps kindness, and people pay 1000s to have there brand in a prominant position, nothing more prominant in boxing than printed across a boxers chest and head while doing a winners interview.

The WBC are media savvy enough to realise that selling their brand to the mainstream masses not only increases awareness, but it also increases the prestige associated with their titles.

And to be fair, despite being an utterly rancid governing body (like the others are too), Mauricio Sulaimán and his cohorts are willing to put in the work to make sure the WBC straps and branded merchandise are included in as many media photos and videos as possible.

The reason why the promoters and the fighters allow them to do this is probably due to them trying to curry favour with the WBC, as a means to establishing an excellent working relationship that is mutually-beneficial (as per the phrase: “you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours”).

Most of us have watched boxing long enough to realise that boxing politics dictates all its major sporting decisions.

Noticed this had become more prominent in recent times. It's the battle of the orgs for superiority and the WBC have gone heavy on merch, making sure they get in there asap and drape them in their shit.
In the madness of victory, people pile into the ring, a fighter is euphoric and you can see everyone is trying to go and give them their congratulations it's all happening around him.
